CHAPTER 8 - Messing up once again.
His words were resolute and thundering in Azyl's ears. He did not exactly register what was said to him for a second.
"What do you mean to say? Is having a dream that bad of a reason? I might not have a reasonable cause, but is admiring something that wrong? How can you say that, as if you have any good reason." Azyl shouted at him.
He felt stupid outbursting like this, but mainly inside he felt frustrated that Zewoulf wasn't really wrong entirely. Maybe the way he phrased it was harsh, but he had realised by now that Zewoulf was much more mature than his peers. But unlike him, Azyl was just a kid, who liked lazing around, so the harsh words were like a bucket of cold water turned on him.
"Don't sulk like that. What I say is something that you need to be aware of. I don't know what you might have been told up till now about Elementalist. But there are some rules that don't change no matter which world you are in. A simple rule is that the real world is a might makes right place. The stronger fist is always correct. And second is that when you decide to set out in pursuit of the said strength, no matter your reason, you risk yourself getting entangled in this world of fists."
"Which is why you need to become aware of this. It is not all fireworks and magic. This academy is just going to train you to be sent to the front lines as fodder once you pass out. Unless you can become capable enough to take your future into your own hands, this isn't a path for you. So yeah, you need more than a fairy tale dream as a reason to go about that." Zewoulf said, in the same cold voice.

Azyl could feel the sting in his face, but after a moment he tried to calm down. He understood what he was saying and the concern he was showing. Although it was thrown straight in his face, Woulf was probably trying to make him think of a second plan for himself. He couldn't even be sure of getting into the Elemental class, so he had to consider other possibilities. And also what he said about the might makes right thing, that made a big impact on him.
But just like a kid, unwilling to accept his defeat, he barged out of his dorm. He had no idea where to go, so he just made his way to the Dining hall. After he was done with his lunch, he would go and grab the first seat in the theory class before anyone. He wanted to avoid Zewoulf for now, and think about this on his own, as too many thoughts were running through his mind.
After he had his fill, he rushed like before and sat down in the empty classroom before anyone was even there.
With all his thoughts going haywire and nice food in his stomach now, he started to feel drowsy and dozed off. Before he realised it, he had already dozed off. This time it was just a normal light nap as he did not have that dream again.
A little while later, a light coughing sound woke him up with a jolt as he immediately remembered where he was. He looked around him to see that the students were still not there. There was only one person standing in front of him.
"Teacher, I... I did not mean to fall asleep again, I was just too tired after the combat... and then too many thoughts ... and I dozed off" Azyl stammered as he got up in fright.

His teacher waved at him to calm down.
"I thought that you would wake up if enough time passed but you really seemed to be in a deep sleep so I had to disturb. Lets have a talk now." The teacher said as he took a seat infront of Azyl
"Can you tell me why is it that you always fall asleep in my class?" His teacher calmly asked him.
"I do not mean to fall asleep in your class, but after the tiring combat session, it greatly tires me out and then the quietness in your class makes me doze off." Azyl lightly answered after he observed that his teacher wasn't shouting at him yet.
"It is mostly because I have been lazy in everything as far as I remember. Falling asleep comes naturally to me, especially when I am tired." He explained. He could not really tell him about the strange dream, but what he said was not a lie either. He might have still fallen asleep, at least for half the days even if it wasn't due to the fatigue due to combat class.
"Is that so? Why does it sound like you are just making excuses?" The teacher asked with raised eyebrows.
"No, in fact I came here in advance so that I could take the first seat and focus in the class this time, after yesterday. Today was also the most important and last class too." Azyl quickly said.
"That is indeed true, but you see when I came to the room and saw you sleeping, even so on the first desk, I thought,
'There is no way I will have him sleep through the most important class right in front of my face.'
"And hence I changed the location of the lecture at the last moment. So unfortunately, you have already managed to miss that class" The teacher replied to him. Once again his expression was of calm. It was as if he no longer cared about Azyl at all and already knew this student would be expelled.
When Azyl heard this, he was dealt the second shock of his day. He could not believe that he had already slept through the class. And even so in such a manner. He had already told himself yesterday that he would make sure to pay attention and then apologize to his teacher for his actions. But now that chance was already gone.
Even as he dropped back down in his seat, Azyl realised that tears had started welling in his eyes. He did not want to bawl in front of his teacher, but the more he thought of what Zewoulf had told him and how he had messed up, he couldn't stop the tears from falling.
