《Is there a day after tomorrow》Ch 24 First dungeon (7)

Nadia and Nick approached Richard with full grins on their faces.
The source of their joy was of course the necklace they looted from the avatar. Occasionally glancing at their loot, they arrived next to Richard and handed the necklace with great expectations.
''Here you go Richard, tell us the good news!'' Nick passed the necklace to Richard for inspection.
''Here I go. Inspect''

''Wow, it really does seem that you did hit the jackpot.'' Richard told the team the stats for the necklace and then dejectedly said afterwards.
''With this necklace, my worth has now dropped dramatically'' ಥ_ಥ
''Don't worry Richard, you are still a valuable member of our team. You don't have to be worried about any of that!'' Nick told Richard while patting his shoulder.
''Yeah, no worries there.'' Nadia replied with a somewhat thoughtful expression, but that quickly faded as she shifted her attention to the other lizardmen that had not yet been looted.
''I think we should loot everything else now, Richard, you should stay here and rest for a while. We need to recuperate as soon as we can so that we can continue forward.''
Richard nodded his head and the duo went back into scavenging mode and disappeared from his vicinity.
''I really thought that they were drop-dead tired, but maybe it is true that even the devil works like an oxen if the price is right.'' Richard thought for a while, but then focused his attention to the job/class notification.
''Now let's see. I really do wonder how the job class system works.''

Calling up the system notification for a job in his head, the familiar announcement window came to his sight.
Barely containing his excitement, he had wild fantasies running through his head.
''I hope it is like those web novels. Main character with insanely cheat job that others envy, here I come!''
Clicking yes on the notification he got a list of possible jobs available for him.
Available jobs for player -
Richard Morrison Warrior Necromancer Spiritualist Harvester Voodoo Doctor
Richard pondered his options and tried to get more information about them from the system, but nothing came up.
''Hmm. In novels necromancer is always pretty op, but I can't imagine myself surrounded by tons of rotting zombies and skeletons. How would I even travel with all of them? And my social life would be gone like poof. Pass.''
Continuing to narrow down on his choices he thought that Voodoo doctor sounded quite nice, but he had no idea how that works. It would be quite a risky gamble if he took it.
''Spiritualist? Hahahah nope nope nope. With my luck the job would most likely be something like drowning the enemies in essential oils and heal my allies with healing crystals made of quartz or something.''
Wondering between the last two options Richard was in dilemma.
''Harvester sounds so cool, but warrior seems like a reliable choice. Maybe I am infected by chuunibyou disease but the harvester seems attractive''
Imagining himself in the battlefield for a brief moment: Amidst tons of enemies reaping the foes like grass, the enemies tremble in fear hearing that the harvester has come for them.
Richard was excited to dream again and let loose his imagination. He often dreamt unrealistic scenarios in head to escape the stress of being jobless and now that the world had gone from normal to shit show, he let all of the pent up stress loose in multiple ways. Delusions of grandeur might sound like an excessive term for his thought process, but it was close to it when he started to daydream.

''Yup, I think Harvester would do just nicely. I always knew that I am special somehow and will not settle for the ordinary warrior job.''
Making up his mind he focused his mind into Harvester job, clicked select and heard a familiar ding in his head.
Job acquired:
Harvester Staff mastery → Scythe mastery Stamina +3 (18→21) Vitality +3 (18→21) Strangth +3 (25→28) Skill Reap and sow acquired Skill Cull aquired Skill Harvest acquired
Staring blankly into the system notification, Richard's mind was in shambles.
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
''WTF! Where is my overpowered job? What is all this farming shit?!?''
Slumping on to the ground, Richard seemed like he lost his soul.
''Harvester, well the job name is absolutely accurate... Waiting for the expectations to grow and bud and then cruelly harvest my everything away with shitty scam of a job.''
Nadia and Nick were returning from looting and saw Richard suddenly slumping into the ground.
''Hey Richard! Are you all right? Talk to me, don't go towards the light!''
Rushing towards Richard the duo saw that his chest was heaving as if he was having hard time to breathe. Preparing for the worst, Nadia opened up her backpack to pull out medical supplies in full sprint.
Hearing Richard muttering something along the lines of '' I'm done...This time I'm really done.'' They prepared to help Richard in any way possible.
''Richard! Hang in there, we are here now. Is it hurting badly? Do you need pain killers? Nick, get some water, disinfection tools and bandages ready.'' Nadia said her orders to Nick in a hurried manner.
Waking up from the commotion the duo was making, Richard sat up and tilted his head asking them ''Who is hurt? Did something attack us right now?'' Trying to hurriedly stand up, Richard was preparing for battle.
''Were you not hurt and on your last legs now Richard? What is going on?''
''Uhh... I'm fine, it was just a stomach ache. No reason to worry about it.'' Richard lied with a straight face, cold nervous sweat dripping from his forehead.
''You are sweating too. Better take cold medicine just in case. Fever is nothing to joke about.'' Nick said in a concerned manner while eyeing Richards' pale face dripping with sweat.
''I am fine with little rest, no big deal, really. What did you find from the lizardmen by the way?''
''Few healing potions, oversized shoulder pads and some useless junk. I tried out the necklace inspect and the shoulder pads should fit in on Nick just nicely providing intelligence.'' Nadia answered in a dejected tone.
''So I assume that you have already decided who takes the necklace?'' Richard asked in a serious manner.
''Well yeah we discussed it, I think Nadia should be the one to use it since inspect would be useful on melee fighters and it provides stamina too. Besides you already have Inspect so it would be best to have it on her.''
Grudgingly agreeing with Nick's logic, Richard nodded his head and asked for a health potion.
''We should set up a small camp nearby, we should be ready to continue the dungeon tomorrow. There is always a chance that there will be another avatar or worse and before recuperating our power I would not like to take the risk. '' Nadia analyzed the situation objectively and the group agreed to it after brief discussion.

Lifestones of Lebreima
Lottica and Nick probably could have dealt with the sudden death of their parents. They probably really could have coped. IF. IF they hadn't had to deal with foreign grandparents who wanted to whisk them off to Lebreima, a small Old World country thousands of miles away from their friends and neighbors. IF they weren't being pursued by a sinister figure in a cape (a cape of all things!) who may have killed their parents. IF, in the ruins of their house, Lottica and Nick hadn't found what their dad had hidden there, along with secrets that were about to change the universe as they knew it. IF (and this deserves the all caps) THEIR DEAD PARENTS HAD JUST STAYED DEAD.

The Supernormal
In a world where fantasy has become everyday, one man stands against absurdity. The local Tower stomps through the streets. Any hedge could contain a witch. Walls regularly crumble, though none more often than the fourth. In the magical city of Blackpool, all ridiculousness is possible, and it takes everything for Jack Of All Trades to survive. Badly, at that. Perpetually late with his rent, he'll take up arms for any paying customer in order to fulfill his quest. His obstacles include polka-loving ghosts, card-game playing vampires, and the most vicious monsters of all: copyright lawyers. When he's joined by an arrogant magus and an insecure vampire, his life gets even more complicated, but no matter what kind of infuriating choose-your-own-adventure he finds himself on, one constant remains—his rent is due at the end of the month. On second thoughts, maybe he should stay in bed. The Supernormal isn't your average web-novel. It's an urban fantasy parody that saunters through a world full of the absurd, delighting in poking fun at popular media, widely-accepted ideas, and often itself. Story arcs only loosely connect through the characters, who are themselves slowly fleshed out as the story continues. Think of Discworld meets The Dresden Files meets Gintama. This novel won't be for everyone, but if it is for you, you're in for a hell of a ride.
