《Is there a day after tomorrow》Ch 20 First dungeon (3)

Ecstatic from the level up, Richard quickly focused his attention on the two remaining lizardmen.
One was hot on Nick's trail, and another flanked by him and Nadia.
''Nadia let's quickly take care of this and help Nick with his pursuer.''
Richard swept at the flanked lizardman's legs and Nadia kept thrusting her spear towards the lizardman's chest in a frenzied manner.
Completely overwhelmed by the duo's assault, the lizardman could not properly dodge attacks from front and back.
Failing to dodge the sweep from behind, the lizardman quickly fell down to the ground.
Now laying on its back on the ground, desperation entered its eyes as it was waiting for the duo to begin their onslaught.
Richard swung his weapon forcefully at the lizardman's arms, who was trying to protect its head.
Hearing cracking sounds coming from the helpless lizard's arms, Richard and Nadia knew that it would soon be dead.
Nadia kept stabbing its torso a few times in quick succession, and the lizardman made its last stand after coming to a conclusion that help would not arrive.
Abandoning all defense, it tried to use its tail and legs to spring itself towards Nadia. Hoping to bite at least a chunk off from the attacker, it opened its maw and revealed neat rows of sharp teeth dripping with its own blood.
Reacting quickly, Nadia was prepared to meet the lizardman with her spear before it could take a bite of her.
Throwing her spear vertically upwards, her spear pierced through the lizardman's head from its chin to the back of the skull neatly without much resistance.
Nadia nodded at Richard, as if indicating that she received system notification for experience and they were done with their foes.
Looking over at the final enemy, they started to make their way towards the one chasing Nick.
''Hold on just a little longer Nicholas! We are coming to help.'' Richard yelled in a loud voice in hopes to attract the lizardman's attention for a brief moment.
Hearing the loud yell, the lizardman chasing Nick glanced briefly towards Richard and Nadia. Seeing that the other tribesmen were already dead it pondered while chasing Nick: Whether to continue the chase or flee to warn others. It came to a decision to try to take the cowardly human down swiftly and flee immediately afterwards.
Richard and Nadia were already sprinting towards the lizardman in great vigor. until they saw that the lizardman was about to throw its spear towards Nick.
''Take cover! It's about to go all in by throwing the spear!'' Nadia yelled and prepared to throw her spear as well, in hopes to buy some extra time for Nick to take cover.

Hearing this Nick glanced over his shoulder. Indeed that lizardman looked like it was ready to go all-in on its gamble by throwing the spear.
Startled, Nick threw himself on the ground with a spin, and fired a continuous spray of fire towards the lizardman in a hurry before hitting the ground.
Landing on his back, Nick watched as the spray of fire made contact with the lizardman's right arm.
''Phew, this should give me some time for my teammates to help me.'' He thought briefly and turned his head to observe how Nadia and Richard were doing.
Just as Nick turned to check out his team's situation, he saw Nadia throwing the spear. Cutting through the air, the spear pierced the lizardman's right bicep neatly.
Roaring in pain, the lizardman dropped the spear it was wearing.
Looking at damage the thrown spear had caused, it should be obvious that the lizardman's right arm was now incapacitated.
Making use of the opportunity Nick quickly got back on his feet and spewed his Blast Burn in overwhelming quantities, with all the might he could muster.
Richard and Nadia walked leisurely next to Nick, who was still roasting the pile of ashes that was formerly a lizardman.
''Dude, stop overcompensating for something. It has been reduced into ashes few tens of seconds ago, save your mana.'' Richard placed his hand on Nick's shoulder and spoke calmly.
Nicholas, eyes bloodshot and filled with fury, started to cancel his spell in a reluctant manner.
''That fucker just had to chase me for so long. I'm not a mobile mage, what I should be doing is sitting back and blasting them to hell like US army bombs middle eastern countries. If I can't vent my pent up frustration on it, I don't think I can sleep well at night.''
''Calm your nipples man, we are in a dungeon. There should be plenty of targets for you to let loose.'' Richard continued calmly and thought to himself.
''Jesus fucking Christ. Nick is fucking scary when he's angry, I'll have to watch my mouth next time when I get the urge to tease him.''
Nadia intervened in a timely manner, telling the boys to turn their attention towards the loot.
''There is bound to be something good with them! I can feel it in my bones!''
''Yeah, I suppose you are right, my love. Let's see what we got this time.'' Nick responded, now looking a bit more calm and collected: Befitting his previous status as businessman.
Shrugging her shoulders Nadia started to walk towards the corpses to search for anything useful, skipping happily every now and then.

The group started to search the lizardmen bodies and quickly Nick exclaimed out loud a question for Richard.
''Richard, when you are done with your search, could you inspect what this stone is? My system notification tells me it is some sort of weapon enhancement stone, but it's quite vague in its description.''
Richard looked over to Nick in amazement. Holding a smooth surfaced, glowing stone with some markings on it.
He could not see that far what the markings looked like, but it should be extraordinary.
Continuing his search of the lizardman's corpse, Richard found a few bottles of unknown substance, spear and armored bracers.
''This should be pretty good, right?Inspect.''
Minor healing potion Rating: Common [ Consumable ] Effect: Heals 40 hp over 5 minutes Additional effects: None Weight: 0,3 kg Durability: 1/1 Lizardman's Armored Bracers Rating: Uncommon [ Wrist ] Defence: 32 Additional effects: Vitality +3 Strength +2 Weight: 1.5 kg Durability: 122/150
''Nice! I have some quality goods here as well.'' Richard yelled out loud with a smug look on his face.
Nadia and Nick gathered next to Richard, done with their scavenging.
''Why the smug face Richard, don't tell me you found legendary artifacts from that trash mob's corpse.'' Nadia looked at Richard with a bit of a dissatisfied face, feeling envy and cursing her own luck.
''Not legendary, but at this point it is quite good.'' Relaying the effects of the potions and the stats from bracers, he already was about to equip the bracers on.
''Hold up, you still need to inspect the stone I found.'' Nick eyed the bracers greedily, feeling bit down about his own looting luck.
''Oh right. Hold on, Inspect.''
Weapon upgrade token Rating: Uncommon [ Consumable ] Effect: Upgrades any weapon to uncommon quality. Small chance of Higher upgrade if certain conditions are fulfilled. - Works on all objects classified as weapon, may alter appearance depending on the specified weapon. Weight: 2.1 kg Durability: 1/1
Richard's eyes shone brightly as he saw the description and thought about his own weapon.
''Oh Curtain-kun if I could have this, you might be useful again...''
Comparing the usefulness between weapon and defense in his head, Richard observed the facial expression of Nick and honestly told the couple what this stone was capable of.
Making up his mind about trying to barter the stone for the bracers with Nick, Richard's mind started to work at full speed. How to make the argument to make Nick trade his stone?
As soon as Nick heard the effects of the stone, he burst out dancing and cheering.
''Nanananana I should have not doubted my luck, it was a stroke of fate I tell you! '' Still dancing and cheering, Nick rubbed his luck in Richard's face.
Clearing his throat, Richard interrupted Nick's little celebration.
''Say, you are a mage of the team. So what are you intending to use the stone for? You really don't have such need for it, right?''
''Uhh, it's true that I am not a melee fighter. Still I thought it could be of use to me if the weapon were a pistol. That way it should become a lot more powerful?'' Nick told his honest thoughts to Richard.
''But don't you need bullets for the guns anyway? It's not the gun that does the damage, but the bullets.'' Richard continued with poker face, leading up to his proposal.
''Since it's the bullets that do the damage, why not trade the stone with me? You get the bracers and I can upgrade my trusty weapon. It is a win – win situation.''
''Uhm, Nadia what do you think?'' Nick asked for an opinion from Nadia, feeling a bit lost after the continuous arguments from Richard.
''It's true that you don't need a main weapon like me and Richard, so that bracer might be better for you to use. That way you should be more safe, and you can still deal magical damage from afar. Also you could lend it to me every once a while depending on the situation.'' Nadia winked at Nick seductively, clearly desiring the bracer for herself.
''Okay Richard, We'll trade.''
Trading the stone for bracers, Nick equipped the wrist guards and Richard went to pick up his curtain pole.
Looking at the curtain pole, now the upper part of it bent out of shape, Richard focused his mind on the weapon upgrade token and picked Curtain-kun as the target.
Do you wish to use Weapon upgrade token on the designated target. Yes No
Mentally pressing yes on the system notification, the stone melted in yellowish, black hue and floated towards the curtain pole.
Now completely enveloped by a thin layer of the (now) liquid upgrade stone the pole started to straighten and the bent part kept bending more.
Completely stunned, Richard and the team watched as the ordinary curtain pole was starting to resemble a scythe.

Searcher
I was just like everyone else. At least, I thought so. Everyone grew up in a mansion with servants, trained to be a debutante, had a traveling archeologist for a father, and gave it all up to do whatever the hell they wanted. Right? Well that’s what I did. I was happy. As happy as a single twenty four year old girl can be living in an apartment selling shit online to pay the bills. Not actual shit, that's gross. No, I bought stuff from garage sales, thrift stores, and junk shops, and resold it in my online store. I was pretty good at finding stuff to peddle to my customers. I made rent every month and didn’t have to strip. I’m a bit too chunky to swing around a pole anyway. Life was great! Until two sexy men broke into my apartment and woke me up from the most erotic dream my sexually depraved mind could come up with. One was between my legs, the other was... Oh well, it was a dream and I didn’t even get to finish it. Those bastards! Now I’m supposed to believe my dead father wasn’t an archeologist, but some kind of paranormal agent working for a secret organization called The Guard. My ability to find items for my customers is just a perk inherited from him. And I’m supposed to use my inherited powers to save the world. All while these hunks of man flesh guard me from other paranormals out to get whatever the hell they think I have. A certain body part is dripping with excitement, literally. But my mind is saying “Hell No!”
