《Into the void》Chapter 10: Set pieces

Once again, I found myself hovering high up in the Sky. The two people had reached down on the planet with no complications. I really should find out what their names are, but for now, I'll call them Mary and Bob. They hadn't yet realized that they had powers, but they would eventually.
With most other animals they could use their titles almost instinctively. Unless human intelligence messed with that, then they should be doing the same pretty soon.
Currently, I was on my way to attend to some other creatures. This world was teeming with life. Life that had adapted to use qi. Every creature on this planet interacted with it in some shape or form. Some were more skilled than their peers at it, but not a single creature couldn't interact with qi at some level.
Due to this interaction, many of these species had started the journey to acquire a soul. On Earth, for souls to come into existence a certain level of consciousness needed to be reached, which is why only a few species had them.
That brings me back to life on this planet. In a world of supernatural strength, it's hard to stand out but when you do, a legend is born. That was the purpose of meeting these creatures. They all stood out some less than others, but they all had the potential to be legends. I was here to make sure that potential was a guarantee.
There was no way in hell that I was going to give those two titles and not my creations. What kind of creator would I be to show favoritism to those not my own?
I had four candidates in mind for the titles. They would all be granted titles for distinct reasons. Some got titles so that they could walk the path of mythic creatures while others would kickstart civilizations.
I used the power granted to me as the creator to spread out my senses and locate the four. It took me less than a second to successfully track them all down. Then I took the form of Mazzain before warping space. In one instance I was high up in the heavens and in another, I stood in the nest of a giant bird.
The nest could fit a queen-sized bed. It seemed to be made of rather large branches and sticks intertwined by supple vines. It was covered in a layer of fur that seemed to be from various species. The skulls and bones of dead animals decorated the meter-high walls of the nest.
In that nest were a dozen Eggs the size of basketballs. Up above me, their guardian flew in circles in the sky looking for all who dared come too close. This was the species of birds I had taken to calling Thunderbirds.
This was not because they had some incredible abilities to do with lightning. No, rather it was because of how incredibly loud they were. This species was one with incredibly powerful sonorous abilities. They were massive in size with a wingspan stretching over 3 meters, covered in Brown fur and armed with razor-sharp giant talons.
Their feathers were as hard as metal, and their beaks looked incredibly cruel. On their heads, they had several flexible protrusions that ended with a ball-shaped lump of flesh. This was used for echolocation and for their mana sense.
Their beady white eyes could see perfectly, in fact, better than perfect they could see insects from kilometers away. However, when in combination with their echolocation and mana sense it made escaping their view nigh impossible for most other species.

They had evolved to be the apex of the avian species. Their qi like others was used instinctively for body refinement. However, somewhere down the line of evolution, they had acquired incredibly loud and powerful voices.
Their screeches traveled far and were deafening to other creatures. In the mountainous regions that they inhabited; they went unchallenged. This lack of challenge along with surprising intellect had led to the creation of clans, a rudimentary form of trade, and even a rather simple form of speech.
They were also partners for life and this unfortunate male thunderbird was currently widowed. Unlike most members of his species, his feathers were black in color. This color change is caused by the stress of losing a partner. It would eventually turn into a red color which would signify to others that it was no longer grieving.
Other members of its clan would then approach it to offer aid in raising the eggs and socializing them. That would not be happening for this particular bird.
A singular mountain of average size could host up to 50 Thunderbirds and a small grouping of mountains such as the this could house a clan with numbers in the mid-hundreds.
This angry father ruled these mountaintops alone. He had a massacred his entire clan.
The members of the clan had socially ostracized his mate and eventually killed her. This is why they are all currently far below on the mountain floor bloodied and dead.
The eggs in the nest were his and so too were the eggs in all other nests. He had been unable to massacre the unborn young of his clan and now he would be the sole protector, provider, and caretaker of over a hundred young.
He had thoroughly impressed me with his raw power but even he could not take care of a hundred young. If there were a beast that deserved a title, then that would be him.
He circled above me; the instant I had appeared he had sensed me. I even had a hunch that he had felt the space warp before I arrived. He was assessing me, seeing how much of a threat I was, after all, he had never seen Mazzain.
One round.
Two rounds.
This was a patient bird. We both waited for one to make a move. It was only a couple seconds later that I realized that he didn't want to fight me so close to the eggs.
So, I jumped off and instantly I heard a loud screech.
The mountains shook and air vibrated.
The winds howled and a wave of sound visible to the naked eye exploded outwards. I hadn't been prepared and for that, I plummeted to the ground.
Mazzain's form didn't have ears but I could feel my bones and organs reverberating in my body. My mind was thrown awry, I was having a hard time orienting myself.
In the next instant, he was upon me, talons outstretched and ready to kill.
I warped instantly and I was above the eagle. Only to be slammed by its wings as it rolled in mid-air and reoriented towards me.
What the fuck was this Bird?!
It had already oriented itself and was heading again towards a still very disoriented me.
"Okay, fuck this."
In a moment as it reached me it was halted in its movements. Everything for kilometers was halted. I had locked space; nothing could move including me. That was one of the limitations that had been set up for me but with a thought I teleported on the back of the thunderbird.
Even though I disliked being slapped around I couldn't help but be impressed. Not many beings can claim to have slapped the creator of their universe.

I looked in its eye and could see nothing but cold calculation and worry, but not worry for itself. It was worried about the eggs.
Man, father of the year right here. I had planned on giving it one title, but it deserved two. I spoke into its mind "To you, I grant the titles [The Great Annihilator] and [History's Greatest Father].
It understood me and I could tell that he was relieved that I wouldn't be harming his young.
I teleported away before unlocking the space, no way was I risking getting slapped again. Though now that I thought about it my body didn't hurt at all. Benefits of being a creator I suppose.
Once again, I teleported to the next candidate. This time having learned my lesson I instantaneously locked space the moment I arrived before the creature.
I was currently underwater and in front of me was the oldest living being on this planet. The giant lobster-like beast that had managed to attain biological immortality. I now called this particular species furnace lobsters.
This particular immortal was the longest-lived, it had after been the first to discover this ability. Other members of its species had eventually managed to stumble upon the process but that had been only 25 thousand years ago. This Furnace lobster had been refining its body for over 75000 years longer than its nearest competitor. Though it hadn't grown much in size it was still 3 meters from head to tail.
After having lived for thousands of years it had its own micro-ecosystem located on its shell. Various oceanic plants and creatures lived and died on its shell. Some had even started to use the molting sessions as energy for their growth.
This species usually molted every 2 years which means for something of its age it had refined its body tens of thousands of times. It was the single most powerful being on this planet and I could feel it. The insides were probably far more durable than the shell now.
All that refinement led to its very blood being refined. There was probably no part of its body that hadn't been forged in the molting. If I were to guess I would say that this beast was probably thousands of times stronger than the thunderbird. Yet it was here at the bottom of the ocean minding its own business and eating some random fish.
A simple life indeed.
"To you, I give the title of [The Undying One]."
On to the next species. These ones I wasn't as impressed by it was only by the virtue of their forefather that I was giving them titles.
They were descendants of the first-ever being to use qi. They were the smartest species on earth but that potential they once had was now scattered. Wars, plagues, and idiotic leaders led to the fall of the wood lizards.
The current lizard was a subspecies that had adapted to live in the deserts and plains. In the past, they had numbered in the millions but now they consisted of only 4000 members. Even the current leader who was stuck in space wasn't all that impressive.
They had slowly started to become more bipedal and managed to build basic huts. They were in the stone age, but they always seemed to lose their progression due to stupid decisions.
So, the title given to him was [The Wise King]. Hopefully, this kept them from wiping themselves out.
I was very disappointed; these lizards had once been feared across these lands. Now they were nearly at the bottom of the food chain.
I looked in its eyes and saw only fear. The thunderbird had been calculating and the lobster had been curious. The fear disgusted me. It wasn't like the woman's fear, it wasn't a great performance just a weak being unable to live up to its potential.
It was an insult to the other two to even lock it in space. They were powerful this thing was not, but the potential was still there.
"This is your last chance. If you don't take, I'll wipe you out myself."
Finally, I arrived at my last stop deep in some jungles far away. This was home to the 2nd species with potential for civilization. They were primates, or the least looked like them.
I wasn't surprised that primates managed to develop to this point. We humans exist after all, but it was a bit dull. Nevertheless, they had high potential and so they would be given a title.
They weren't at the top of the food chain but with their teamwork and tree hopping abilities, they were a force to be reckoned with. The primates were small at around 4 feet tall. They had yellow fur, but their skin underneath was usually was Brown. Their eyes resembled those of chimpanzees but what set them apart was their tail. It was extremely long ranging from 4 to 7 feet.
The tail was the single most powerful part of their bodies that in combination with their opposable thumbs meant that they managed to create wooden houses high in the trees. They had just entered the stone age but were already advancing faster than the lizards.
But I need them to progress faster. I found the largest group of them looked for the one in charge. When I found him, he was sleeping which made things simple.
"To you, I give the title of [The Uniter]" It stirred in its sleep but didn't awake.
I was finally done with creatures, time for the storyline.
With only these two humans there wouldn't be much going on in the world. There wouldn't be ancient tombs or civilizations to discover. There were a lot of civilizations and artifacts to be uncovered in the universe after all the Yinnesin had been a thing.
They had been an advanced spacefaring civilization that infused concepts into their weapons, their ships, and their clothing. Everything they used had been infused with concepts so even after their destruction they had left many things in the universe.
This planet was no exception, there were some artifacts to be discovered and some had already been uncovered. The problem was that they were too unstable and powerful for the species to use currently or anytime in the next couple million years.
One of the reactors of a civilian vessel reactor for a ship that had been discovered by an insectoid race underground. They had actually been the 5th species on my list but unfortunately when they found the unstable reactor things didn't go well.
The reactor had contained fragments of the concept of space and gravity, so when it detonated the insects and everything in a 100-mile got caught in the blast.
It had formed a dome-like structure where space and gravity weren't working properly, and the race was currently stuck inside.
There are many such items around the world around the universe find but they were the background items that would most often lead to the death of whoever found them. What I needed was an active storyline and what I wanted was the Eldritch in nature.
None of the races would be able to contact the [The Never-Ending Ones] for a hot minute. They would have had to be at least as powerful as the Yinessin to make it out of the universe and establish contact. A time frame that was way too far for me.
I wanted eldritch abominations and eldritch abominations I would have.
The plan was rather simple. I would build a temple close to the humans. It would be an ancient temple filled with books that were written in the language of the [The Never-Ending Ones]. These humans wouldn't be able to read the book but eventually, someone down the line would discover the secrets that hid within. I also had to get them started on cultivation so there were some items created to get them started
It wasn't a large addition, but it was what I needed to get the ball rolling.
