《(Dropped)The God Of Apocalypse》Chapter 14 Siege Part 2

Site-YOD Heavy Containment Zone.
I was sneaking around trying to catch any Insurgency soldiers off guard. It had gone moderately well. You see when I actually find some of them usually the girl decides to go all Rambo and runs up to them. Ignoring any bullets that actually hit her. She only killed with neck snaps or strangulation and seemingly did not like blood. Why? No idea but I'm not the type to ask.
Problem was, I couldn't really reprimand her for killing my enemies. But hey! I was also looking for a fight you know. As I was lamenting the fact that I haven't been able to shoot anyone. Which was quite morbid now that I think back, the girl started a conversation again.
"Why are you protecting them?"
"The foundation? Well... I suppose you could say that's more or less my best bet right now. If I want to survive."
She went quiet after that. However I wanted to actually ask her a few questions that had been nagging me for the last few hours.
"So why are you even here? I mean, why here of all places?"
One of her eyebrows twitched. She didn't seem like she would answer the question. She did however after some seconds of silence.
"The energy... I felt it coursing through my veins for just a moment. But that moment was enough. I managed to escape the Jailors cell because of it. The energy was unfathomable in a way. So I wanted to find it. Harness it or atleast get a small amount. I wandered the prison and found a friend of mine that had also been imprisoned by them. I asked him if he could send me where the energy came from. He said yes but he himself didn't want to. He seemed more scared than curious. He said "Reality has been stolen by it" I can understand his feelings. The energy was chaotic but at the same time so natural. Like it had always been there. Neither friend or foe. I was sent here and now I am trying to find it. It led me here..."

I nodded kinda hoping that the energy wasn't of my creation. Knowing my luck however that seemed very unlikely. She spoke up again before I could lament my situation.
"You have a faint trace of it. The energy I mean... It's hard to notice but if you look close enough you can see it. Where did you get it?"
Now this is kinda hard. Telling her that I am the guy that probably created the energy doesn't seem like a good idea. So what to do? I can probably tell her something mysterious and vague. That way I wont have to elaborate on the subject. I cringed a little when I spoke my words.
"The one that holds the energy is..." Suddenly I got a name that popped up in my head when I was about tell her my bullshit line. "The judge, he judges a world for what it is. He is as you said neither friend nor foe. His job is to see if a world has broken the old laws of the cosmos. As for how I got some of his energy is a secret that only he knows."
She tilted her head a bit.
"So are we guilty?"
When I was about to answer her, I once again got the feeling of something telling me to say otherwise. I let it. It felt natural but strange at the same time.
"I... I don't think it's decided yet."
"Really?"
I nodded as an answer and then glanced at the girl, she was scratching a part of her skin that was black. I never asked why she had black skin. And I don't mean just black, charcoal black. Not all of her was like that but it was almost like spots at seemingly random places along her skin. I ignored it however as the ever increasing sound of gunfire could be heard.

I had taken a gun from the Insurgency as I forgot my own when I fought the girl. It was a HK121/MG5 that was used by NATO way back. Luckily I was a bit of a military nerd so I knew the weapon. I kinda understood why this was the standard issue for normal foot soldiers in the Insurgency as SCPs are not easy to take down. Heavy however making it hard to be mobile. Well not like you would be able to out run a SCP for that matter.
We finally rounded a corner and was greeted by 4 Insurgency soldiers trying to open a containment cell. Probably to spread chaos or something similar. They never noticed me as I lifted the gun and sprayed them all to gore. The girl almost threw up because of the blood. She glared at me but I shrugged.
I patted the MG pleased at the firepower of the gun. There hadn't been much of a revolution in the arms industry after all this time. The neo nazi war brought some new models to play but no laser weapons or stuff like that. I was kinda happy when I realised that I could probably utilise laser weapons with my powers. Almost like some SCI-FI movie.
I checked the containment door and disarmed the C4s that had been strapped along it. If that had gone off then shit would have hit the fan. I would have ordered a retreat right away. I was pretty sure the director had some hidden passage out of the facility and I would lead my boys there. And even if there were none I could just use teleportation.
The Insurgency started to irk me more and more. What good was blowing the place up? So many SCPs could go crazy and kill a bunch of civies? Nothing was good with that. It made me question the sanity of the lot.
As I disarmed the last C4 I sighed. I grabbed my radio to check the situation. What I got to know left me less than pleased with the situation.

Embarrassed by their mistake, the mages threw him in the library where he read books and tutored the mage students for a bit of money. All the while, he can’t help but envy the the students who are living the life he had so eagerly awaited. But when an object of great and malevolent power promises to make good on all the promises the mages broke to him Mar is thrust into the world of magic. Mar will find that fate had something more than a life confined to the library planned for him after all. Authors Notes: I consider this to be a comming-of-age Sword and Sorcery story based mostly on the style of classic western fantasies. So if that's your thing then I encourage you to take a peek. Something I want to mention though is that the main character starts of pretty wimpy, and that might not be your thing. That being said, if you stick with him he's got a long way to grow. Also, while this version of the story is meant to be fully readable, more dicerning readers may want to wait until I move out of rough draft phase. There may be some inconsistancies with character and plot while I am still in the rough draft phase. I'm sorry for this, but this is my first web novel and from what I've read the best way to get a good novel out is to write write write, and then edit ruthlessly after you're finished with the book, so that's the plan I'm going to follow. Again, this is a rough draft. Everything you are reading is subject to change, including the name, title, and cover photo. This may no longer be the case once I've decided I know where this fiction is going and I have a reasonable understanding of the characters and their behavior. You're reading what comes off my keyboard as it's made, with very limited editing. There will be mistakes in the text. I do a quick spell check to take out the worst of the errors, but there will be some I miss. You can point them out in the comments if they are particularly confusing or glaring and I will try to fix them, however I am not overly concerned about minor errors as this is not the final draft by any means.

Everyone knows how the general story is supposed to go. A man, unwittingly going about his normal and ordinary life, is suddenly whisked off to a game style fantasy world where he is expected to become the unwavering hero of the realm. That is until the summoned hero throws a Hail Mary and gets himself transported to a tutorial world before the summoning can be completed. Add in a clumsy goddess and a broken planet and that is just where our story begins... Greetings all, thanks for taking the time to read this. This is my first story here on RRL and it's becomming one of the things I look forward to working on each day. As of June 2020, the story description has been updated (now that the characters have told me what was actually going on this author thought it prudent to update this) . Updates will be sporatic as i have time to juggle real life with writing. You the readers have become an integral part of the story helping to decide how things will progress, so enjoy the story and please leave a review or rating so this author can continue to improve the story. New chapters coming soon with edits to existing ones in process As a side note, I wish I could add a science tag to this. While this is still fiction, I have been incorporating real life scientific theories and explanations for how things could be *plausibly* explained. (No, I will not lecture on these points, but they are added to author notes) ~badw0lf
8 133The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.
