Chapter 13 - master it.
We had R.A. It stood for either resident administrator or resident assistant. One was assigned to show me around. His name was Eliar. He was son of a rich merchant, he came from far away and his father didn’t trust him to live alone so he had ended up in dorms. He was in his 3rd year of studies. He had magic as his major and was focused on public administration. He wanted to work for province government while his younger brother run the family business. He was kind of a guarantee for their family business’s future.
[Eliar]: We have 4 floors in each building. Freshman to senior year students live on each level accordingly. You are going to be living in 1st floor while I will be on 3rd floor this year. There are 20 rooms that can host up to 2 students in each level. Sometimes you won’t get a roommate. Each room has its own bathroom and shower; we eat our meals together in dorm kitchen where girls and boys are mixed. You can visit girls sector until 6 p.m. You have to be back to dorm by 10 p.m. or you will have problems.
[Me]: Which room am I assigned to?
[Eliar]: We will go to administrator’s office for that. They will assign a room to you and will sign you as the owner. By the way, are those real?
[Me]: You mean tattoos?
[Eliar]: Yeah!
[Me]: I got them when we were at 3rd bridge. Commander of “Band of Elas” ordered it to be drawn after a warrior from same group brought up the idea as a reward.
[Eliar]: Have you really got out of Devil’s Canyon?
[Me]: Yes.
[Eliar]: I was told that you killed an army of demons and wounded Demon Lord, what about that?

[Me]: T-t-that’s a lie.
We reach administrator’s office.
[Eliar]: Missy we are here to get Aslan registered to receive permission to use a room.
I was assigned to room 108. I had no roommate, and all the room to myself. By 5, I had my stuff packed into cupboard and dressers. The funny thing was, if I didn’t have to use a key to open or close the room. I just had to give a command and door will “act” accordingly. Magic is a great thing.
Knock. Knock.
[Me]: Come in.
Door opened. Mariette came in. Her eyes got teary. I stood up. Tears came from her eyes. I took a few steps and she hugged me closely.
[Mariette]: I thought I lost you.
I patted her head.
[Me]: I didn’t know you feel…
She put her finger on my lips. We began to kiss. 15 minutes to 6 she left. Eliar came by after 6 and we went to kitchen to eat.
I saw Mariette sitting with few other girls and winked at her. She smiled. We got our meals and…
[Me]: Eliar thanks for everything. I’ll be leaving now.
[Eliar]: You got friends here?
[Me]: Yeah.
[Eliar]: All right, then after meal, I want to introduce you to some of my friends.
[Me]: No worries.
I went to table where Mariette and girls were sitting. I sat in front of Mariette. The other girls looked shocked.
[Me]: You feeling better now?
[Mariette]: Much better!
[Mariette]: She is Sylph, my roommate. They are her childhood friends.
[Me]: Nice to meet you Sylph. Hey, girls! I’m Aslan.
[Sylph]: Is he your boyfriend?
Mariette blushed.
[Mariette]: We are just friends.
Girls grinned.
[Me]: What classes are you going to attend?
[Mariette]: Magic, public administration, philosophy and law. You?
[Me]: Art of War, Magic, history and philosophy. We are going to attend Magic and philosophy together!

[Mariette]: You got tattoos!!! Congrats!
[Me]: Thanks.
[Mariette]: Did you kill an army of demons and wounded Demon Lord?
[Me]: Who spreads that BS?
The other girls gazed in awe. I finished my meal and left them. Went back to my room. Sat on ground and began to
meditate. Close to 11, went to bed and slept.
I was dreaming of my village and parents. Everything went dark. Wolf appeared out of nowhere. “How’s life treating you?”. I didn’t know what was happening. “Enjoy while you can, as there is not so much time left.”
I woke up unaware of what had happened. Went to main school building registered for classes. Next Monday, school was officially beginning studies. Days passed by fast. First three days of week we had theoretical stuff to learn. Thursday and Friday’s were practical lessons. Magic was the first lesson for day to all students. Next two classes were the elective ones for me. The last one was art of war. I tried my best to study hard.
In magic class, first thing was to get official results to know which kind of mana affiliation we had. I had wind and fire affiliation. I showed them how I engulfed my in mana, everyone was shocked but not even teacher knew how could it happen. I teleported and they told me it was categorized as a sage level magic and most would not even dream of being able to teleport. Philosophy and history were informative classes. Art of War was different though. They asked us to choose what we wanted to use as a weapon and divided students according their weapons and instructors for each weapon had their own classes. Art of War didn’t have much theory classes on first and second year of studies. We were told everything would be as practical as possible. First few days we just practiced handling our weapons efficiently. Ulfberht’s size was too massive to be used in a same manner as a small blade would so instructor told me to check out normal moves and apply those moves while using Ulfberht. The difference between any blade and Ulfberht was that it weighed close to nothing in my hands. It was like moving my leg or arm. The problematic part was I had to train a lot to be able to master it.
