《My Cerberus Girlfriend》Book Two: Chapter 19

Persephone carried a torch while walking down the stone stairway, swirling along the wall. Roger followed behind her, being cautious not to trip and fall upon her. One wrong move and Hades finds out he could lead Roger to his doom. Although he wasn't sure how Hades and Persephone's relationship was like, he couldn't afford to ruin it, since they were gods. And the people said angry gods to be the worse. Right now, the only thing he should worry about was freeing Hades so he could rescue Katina, Labda, and Cilla.

As they descended, Roger noticed the goddess was moving pretty slowly. Taking her time as her toes touched each step.

"Should we be moving faster?" Roger asked, forcing his patience to keep him calm so he wouldn't sound rude.

“My apologies, but there might be traps here,” Persephone answered.

“Are you sure?”

"To be honest, I never walked down here before." Persephone giggled. "But I can feel my husband's presence down there. We are very close."

"Okay." Roger sort of doubted that, but he had no other choice. "So….. How did you and Hades meet?"

Persephone stopped, biting her lower lip. "It'ssssss sort of awkward….."

"Really? You can tell me."

Persephone cleared her throat and continued down the stairway. "Okay. It all started when I was picking flowers in the meadow alone. Then I saw a strange chariot riding toward me. It was Hades, who I recognized. He offered me a ride to the Underworld to show me his garden, which has more flowers than the meadow. So I joined him and visited his garden. After that, we had dinner, learned more about each other, and….. We just happened to fall in love. And our love was great!"

Roger watched his steps. "So he abducted you?"

"Oh, no no no! He didn't abduct me. I followed him on my own free will. But my father and mother assumed he kidnapped me. My mother journeyed to the Underworld and demanded my husband to free me. But to prevent a devastating war, my father proposed a deal to my husband. Hades must allow me to stay on Earth for six months each year. For the rest, I must stay with him in the Underworld. Indeed, it became a fair deal."

"Okay then." Roger still thought that was weirdly messed up.

It was like Hades was a stranger to Persephone, offering her candy to come into his creepy van. No smart woman would ever do that, but judging by Persephone's child-like personality, she wasn't bright at all. Maybe it was her choice, but Hades still abducted her without her parents' permission. And speaking of parents…..

"Who are your parents?" Roger asked. "They should have been furious when Hades took you."

Persephone smiled. "My parents are-"

One slid sent her tumbling down the stairway like a rag doll.

Roger dropped his mouth. "Persephone!"

He races down the steps, following Persephone's moaning cries. If anything happens to her, Hades will raise hell on him.

At the bottom, he found Persephone laying on the floor. But she rose to her feet and brushed the dust off her green dress. No bruises or blood leaked on her gorgeous skin.

"Are you okay?" Roger asked.

Persephone giggled. "Of course, silly man. I am a goddess."

She is clueless, Roger thought.

Persephone rubbed her head. "Oh-yes! Zeus and Demeter are my parents. A lovely couple too! Hehehe! My mother didn't improve my marriage to Hades, but nobody can say no to my father."

“Wait!” Roger held up his finger. “Your father is Zeus?”

“Yes.”

He moved his finger toward his lip. “Then….. That means Hades is your uncle?”

“Yes.” Persephone shrugged. “I didn’t know until my mother arrived to fight him. But our sex was amazing!”

Roger felt like his brain was about to fall out. “And you don’t care?”

“Why should I? We may be blood-related, but I saw him in my life before. And my parents didn’t care. I can marry whoever I want.”

Roger’s skin crawled. Jesus….. Gods are weird!

Persephone giggled and pointed her finger down the corridor. “This way. We should be close.”

“Okay.” Roger swallowed hard as he followed the goddess’s lead. He never thought the Greek gods had incest relationships in their family. But realizing that turned his stomach. Perhaps they didn’t care, or there weren’t enough gods to procreate tother.

Still, incest was disgusting.
