《Just Flip a Coin, Otherworlder》Chapter 50: The Otherworlder and Ifcarus (1)

The Otherworlder stared down at the dying Holy Water with a quiet gaze. Everything around him tumbled and swayed from the quaking earth, but his footing remained the same.
“What a stubborn bastard. I had already told you it’s futile.”
“HAHAHA! What’s futile is your empty threats!” A giant tremor spread through the ground they were standing on.
-CRACK!
A terrifying rip sounded in the air as a crack spread through the ceilings of the underground channel. Dust and rocks fell down right above the Otherworlder and Holy Water. Alongside the sounds of the earth breaking apart, the sensation of something gigantic coming closer filled the air.
“Our Great God is coming to destroy you! Pay for your sins!!” As if on cue, the crack above them grew bigger.
“Tsk,” the Otherworlder clicked his tongue and looked up. The tremors grew intense as the snake god came closer and closer.
Unable to withstand the quakes anymore, the crack finally broke off. The ceiling above them caved in and swung open. It seemed as if it would fall right down on them, but instead turned away. The iron rods used to rebar the concrete above were being pulled towards the metal plates spread all over the place as the electric flux from the broken power source turned them all into temporary magnets.
The Otherworlder instinctively whistled as he saw the falling road above them to avoid him.
Just then, the ground below cracked apart. A breeze brushed past his back and pushed up his hair. The feeling of the ground had left his feet. Before he could even blink, the dark and suffocating sight of the underground channels had disappeared and a veil of sparkling stars in a wide, dark sky filled his sight.
Something had tossed him up in the sky, passing right through the hole above him. Still in the air, the Otherworlder’s eyes rummaged all around him before peeking down.

Sharp fangs reminiscent of the barricades of a dam, a long slithering slitted tongue stretching out from a deep void of flesh. The Snake God Ifcarus had made its appearance.
“GRAHHHH!!!”
Ifcarus roared as its head pushed out of the hole in the ground, followed by the rest of its body.
The wind spread past the Otherworlder again, his waist, then his shoulders. He was being pulled back down by gravity, straight towards Ifcarus’ open mouth. He looked around again to see Holy Water far below him.
“OH! GREAT GOD!! YOU ARE SO MAJES–”
–CLACK!
In the blink of an eye, Ifcarus’ mouth snapped shut. A small glint passed in the air as Holy Water’s bleeding body was split in two by the fangs and swallowed whole by Ifcarus.
“FUCK!” the Otherworlder cursed out loud as he got closer and closer to Ifcarus’ now shut mouth.
“GRAHHH!”
Once again, the Snake God’s earth-shattering roar boomed through the air, almost pushing the Otherworlder away from the pressure alone. He inched closer and closer each second.
A dark miasma covered Ifcarus. Just before the Otherworlder could fall on the Snake God’s face, a staggering wave of mana pushed the air itself away.
The Otherworlder was launched into the air again from the burst of energy. He flipped through the air, almost stopping midair at one point. Then he formed a beautiful arc against the ground and flipped back down at terrifying speeds. Before he could fall down, a well-cushioned chair swooped him up. He perfectly crashed against the chair at just the right angle to end up seated on it.
The chair zapped through the air and landed with its feet first on the terrace of one of the many small buildings in the town. The cushions of the chair absorbed most of the impact of the fall as it slid back and stopped only after hitting a safety railing at the edge of the building’s roof.

With a hand on his chest, the Otherworlder leaned back a bit against the chair. After taking deep breaths for a few seconds, he stood back up. Though he looked calm on the surface, a sea of curses spread out in his mind. The Otherworlder slowly walked to the other edge of the roof and looked at the gigantic snake in the distance.
The roads around had been torn apart and the walls in all the buildings around had cracked from the burst of mana. The yellow of the broken lights illuminated the town in a dim hue. Despite the destruction, not a single person was in sight in the ravaged town. It seemed they had successfully evacuated the town.
In the distance, Ifcarus’ miasma slowly disappeared, as if being sealed into its skin. Then, all the magical energy that had lingered in the area around it slowly started moving towards Ifcarus. The mana seeped into its skin, and the enormous magic stone on its forehead started to increase in size.
“Just one more person’s blood... That maniac...” the Otherworlder’s golden eyes narrowed as he saw Ifcarus bellow out loud again. The miasma, the blood, it was definitely familiar. One name passed into his mind.
Necromancer Shil.
The bastard that had landed him in a ton of trouble. Whether or not these two had any connections... the Otherworlder was almost sure the answer was no. But Holy Water had not revived any dead god...
... This was nothing but a nasty product of necromancy. A senseless zombie in the body of a terrifying existence.
“I am glad I took enough precautions...” Shaking his head, the Otherworlder took in a deep breath. He brought his hands near his mouth in a cup. Pulling up all the air from deep in his stomach out to his neck, the Otherworlder leaned ahead and screamed out loud.
“OVER HERE DICKHEAD!!!!”
All the sounds seemed to have disappeared for a split second as the Otherworlder’s scream spread through the air. The Otherworlder had seemed to have shouted at just the perfect moment as Ifcarus’ head was right against the ground. Snakes picked up sounds from their jawbones after all.
Ifcarus’ face perked up from the ground and turned towards the Otherworlder. It hissed once. Then its eyes narrowed and its mouth scrunched into an otherworldly frown. The snake smashed through the dozens of buildings and lunged towards the Otherworlder like a speeding rocket!
“GRAH!!!”
The Otherworlder’s eyes widened as he saw the snake crush through the rows of buildings like castles of sands and rush towards him. He shuddered at the super effective provocation, his eyes stuck on the closing figure of the snake.
“Fuck.”
