《Just Flip a Coin, Otherworlder》Chapter 13: The Otherworlder and the Imperial Knights

"I see. So he is the one." The person at the forefront of the group stepped towards the Otherworlder at the girl's words. With sharp long ears and beautifully sharp features, the elf in full armor walked with an air of respect and authority.
Hanging from the waist of the elf was a modern pistol. A .50 Desert Eagle, to be precise.
"Is your name Iatra Fors, sir?"
The Otherworlder looked the elf up and down. Observing him with his gaze. The Imperial Knight silently increased his presence to pressure the Otherworlder.
The Imperial Knights and the adventurers around them gulped in fear, but the Otherworlder didn't as much as bat an eye at it.
'Hm, he can withstand my aura to quite the extent.' The elf thought.
The Otherworlder continued observing the elf with eyes as serene and boundless as a lake. He didn't seem to have even noticed the elf's increased aura, let alone been affected by it.
Using aura was, in a way, a mental attack that directly affected one's psyche. So, the reason the Otherworlder wasn't affected was simply because his mind was in more of a panic than the elf could induce.
The Otherworlder's head was running at peak speed. He was observing the elf to find anything that could help him identify him, but didn't find anything. This meant the elf imperial knight was not one of the people he had studied upon with Vera earlier today.
This also meant that the kingdom did not plan to give him as much trouble as one would assume for being connected to the death of a hero. That thought gave him some ease. After a few seconds, the Otherworlder had calmed himself enough to plan his words ahead.
Seeing the man completely unfazed, the elf knight realized the futility of his actions and gingerly retracted all his aura back. The people all sighed in relief, but the Otherworlder continued staring at him. Only after a few more seconds passed did the Otherworlder speak up.
"Yeah. That's me," said the Otherworlder.
"And were you the one who claimed the bounty for Necromancer Shil?" the elf asked.
"Who are you?" And the Otherworlder answered the question with a question.

The elf knight's eyes slightly widened, but he didn't seem offended at all. "Yes, my apologies. I am Sir Raeran Yllafir, leader of the Seventeenth Platoon of the Imperial Knights."
"I see. Yes, I turned his bounty in."
"Then, Iatra Fors, I would have to ask you to accompany me for a few questions." Raeran stepped ahead as the rest of his platoon alerted themselves and followed his steps. A simple way to build pressure.
Should he go right between his possible enemies' jaws, or should he resist and make a certain enemy of these people?
"Wait," the Otherworlder said.
He reached into his pockets and pulled out a coin. The adventurers and the knights stared at the Otherworlder in confusion as he rolled the coin over his fingers and landed it right on the back of his thumb.
'Please guide me, lady luck,' the Otherworlder thought.
-Flick!
With a sharp sound, the coin sliced through the air as it soared into the sky. Flipping from end to end, the coin curved over the Otherworlder's hands and arced back down.
The world seemed to have disappeared in those moments for the Otherworlder. The knights, the adventurers, the looks, the place, the worries, none of those existed. Only the coin moved in that time frame.
The coin came down from the air, and everyone's eyes followed. Everyone in the room had their gazes locked into the coin when a hand came in and snatched it midair. The Otherworlder gracefully grabbed the coin and placed it on the back of his palm.
Without hesitation, the Otherworlder moved his hand, bringing the chosen side of the coin to full display.
"Heads up…" Raeran unconsciously muttered. His eyes shifted from the coin to the Otherworlder, who had the same indifferent look as before.
"Guess I'll come with you."
"Uh, understood. Then, please follow me." Raeran seemed a little flustered at the Otherworlder's decision-making process but didn't point anything out. Much like himself, the Otherworlder's taciturn nature and unclouded eyes made him naturally gain others' respect.
In a similar manner, the Otherworlder only nodded and let the knight pass him by first. The adventurers could only watch as the seventeenth platoon and Iatra, the destroyer, came inside and left like a storm.

First Raeran, then the Otherworlder, followed by the remaining dozen or so soldiers of the platoon. In this order, the entourage stepped out of the adventurer's guild. The platoon came out and took position at the flanks and rear of the Otherworlder, encircling him as they made their way through the stone-cold streets of the town.
Night had arrived as they stepped out.
**
The entourage navigated their way through the town with quick feet. They trailed over the small town in almost no time at all as they passed through the town gates and got outside the town walls. They were now making their way through the rough forest roads, covered with tall grass and trees from the sides. The moon and the stars were clear and bright, making it possible for them to navigate through with no torches.
"Please be at ease, Sir Iatra. The platoon will protect you from whatever comes out here." Raeran said as he adjusted the gun at his waist. The leader of the platoon kept his position as the one at the forefront, even in the forest, as he guided the group through the forest, pushing away the branches and bushes whenever needed.
"Where are we going?" the Otherworlder asked. He assumed they would head to some military base, or since they were from the Imperial Knights, he would have to make a trip to the capital. But they wouldn't take him to the capital with just a 'follow me,' would they? It would need a lot of preparation.
"Oh, we are going to the capital."
'Motherfucker. You are taking me to the capital on foot?!' The Otherworlder cursed in his mind but refrained from showing it on his face. As if sensing his thoughts, Raeran turned his head back with a gallant smile and spoke up.
"Don't worry. You will not be inconvenienced on the trip at all."
The Otherworlder had thought he would have to camp, but maybe these people had brought horses and wagon along with them they couldn't bring into the city? That must be the case.
"I see…" The Otherworlder left it at that as he continued onward. Just then, one knight from his side stepped a little closer to him. The knight with slightly long brown hair was the person he had saved a while back, and the start of all the trouble.
"Um, thanks again for saving me that day," she said.
Saving her had become a slight hassle, but the Otherworlder did not regret it for a second. And while he wondered how she was able to roam around so easily as one of the people in Andata at the time of the hero's death, he didn't quite hold it against her.
"Yeah," the Otherworlder answered.
"I will never forget the grace you have shown me, Sir Iatra. I swear on my name as a knight that I will repay you, even if it costs me my life." The brunette knight bowed and spoke with a voice full of gratitude.
The Otherworlder was just given a promise of a knight from a person he didn't even know the name of. It was an awkward situation.
"Alright. When the day comes, I shall be sure to turn to you for help," The Otherworlder said.
The brunette knight had a smile on her face as she heard his words before a look of determination took its place.
"Yes, I will assist you on that day, even if the sky falls down."
A knight's promise was a heavy one. It was only natural that the Otherworlder meet it with sincerity and acknowledgment.
With another bow, the knight girl went back to her spot in the platoon. Though he hadn't turned back, Raeran had been hearing the interaction with his long ears. He lightly smiled as he continued leading the group.
After passing through rows of trees and taking thin, uneven roads, the group had finally reached its destination. They had arrived at their mode of transport to the capital.
The Otherworlder looked ahead of him with widened eyes. He couldn't help but feel that this was completely out of place, to the point he closed his eyes, rubbed them, and opened them again just to find the same sight.
It seemed they were taking a train to the capital.
