《The First Rabbit Dungeon》Chapter 5 - First Room
Advertisement
Waking up from a daze of 'happy thoughts.' I quickly start to think about how I need to increase the size of the room some more.
When I last looked at the first rabbit during the growing of my dungeon crystal, he was about thirty centimeters long. Which is a average size for a rabbit in my old world.
I can guess that it is on the smaller side of this world because of it being my first rabbit. Since I doubt a 'starter' monster would be on the bigger side of its race when I first make it.
With that in mind, a nine meters squared room is not going to be able to handle more than a few of these rabbits. That is if I am ever able to make more than one rabbit.
Cause I almost killed myself most likely because of me making that first rabbit. The fear of that is actually over powering the emotion of me freaking out because of me just making life. Which isn't of the making a son or daughter kind of new life.
This kind of making life, is the kind where there is nothing. Then BAM! There is a living creature next to you, breathing and living. That could have sounded better, but I am not the most poetic person in my short seventeen years of human life.
So for now I will not be making anymore rabbits until I am certain that I won't die from having the mana light shrink up on me.
Any ways, let's increase the size of the floor before I increase the height of the ceiling. Now, how big should I make the floor now? Well since I am guessing that I won't be thinking about making any more rabbits for quite a while. I might as well just make the room twenty five meters squared.
Which is five meters wide, and long.
I am really glad that I was able to learn mental math during my years at school. Not that the teachers ever actually wanted us to learn or practice it once we got into high school.
Also glad that taking the time to learn it paid off in the end, even if it is in a different life.
Since every time I remove a portion of the dirt around my dungeon crystal, the size of that portion always ends up being one meter cubed. I am going to have to have fourteen light shows that happen after I successfully remove dirt from existence.
Looking at a random corner that I can't see because of the lack of light reaching that far away from my dungeon crystal, I start to focus on wanting to remove the dirt that is there.
After a minute or two goes by, I feel the drain happen again. Then another light show happens, and then another light show happens after I focus again on wanting to remove more dirt from the walls.
With my mana light being back to its original size I should only be able to do two dirt removals. So right now I should be feeling quite crappy, but I am not for some reason.
If I had to compare how I feel to anything, it would be like how I felt when I did my first dirt removal. Which would make it so I am now at my half way mark until I need to refill my mana light again.
Looking at my mana light inside my dungeon crystal, I notice that the whiteness is actually only half the size of the full mana light's current size.

Now, I just got to ask myself how? And like usual, I don't have the answer for this question.
Wait! I should just ask the voice!
"You know that isn't going to work you idiot." A unknown, yet somehow familiar male voice says to me. This voice sounds like it is a guy, so I know that this isn't the same voice that has been talking to me before now.
"Who said that?!" I yell out to make sure that the new voice can hear me.
"Stop yelling, I can hear you just fine without that, thank you very much." He then does a small sigh. "If you must know, my name is Wade."
"That is my name too! What a weird coincidence that both of our names are the same. Wait! Who are you calling a idiot?" Man, that really is weird. Who would have thought that two different people would end up here and both of them have the same name.
After a few seconds Wade starts to speak up again. "I am calling you a idiot. Who else is there to call a idiot? The reason is I know that you know that the girl voice won't answer any of your questions. So why even attempt to ask her?"
Another few seconds go by while I process the information that Wade has given me. "Man, why are you so right? I just want answers to my questions, and for some reason there isn't some all knowing person here to answer my questions."
The Wade that isn't me takes a small sigh before he says his final words to me. "Well if I had to guess the reason why you have more mana in the mana light. I would say that there is some left over mana that stayed in the mana light when the mana light was super big compared to what it is now."
"I don't know much about this world, so that is a good a guess as any. Thank you Wade." Once a few minutes go by with no response back from Wade. At which point I speak out to try and get a response. "Wade... Wade are you still there?"
Ten minutes later nothing else is heard.
So with that happening, I start to realize how much I miss talking with people. But the even sadder thing about this whole thing is the fact that I am not in any kind of position to just walk out of my house and talk to someone.
No. I am trapped in this dark room that has no exit, and the only other thing that is in here is my first rabbit. If you don't include the dungeon crystal, but I won't be counting that.
Looking at the only rabbit in the room I start to voice my thoughts out loud hoping for Wade to hear them. "Wait a second. Didn't the rabbit look different before?"
Looking at it now, it is a brown rabbit with two different sized ears. The difference in the sizes is only something that one can notice if they look hard enough, if someone doesn't, they will never notice. The main difference that I am talking about though is the size of the rabbit.
If I am remembering correctly. The size of Steve, which is this rabbit's new name. Was about thirty centimeters long. Currently though, Steve is now about half a meter long.
And if my mental math is correct, that means he has grown almost double in size.
In my current state of mind, I am able to think of two possible reasons on why he has grown this big. The first thing is my initial theory of the thirty centimeters long for a rabbit was on the smaller side for rabbits. And my sense of time is so messed up that it has been months since I first made him.

Which makes it possible for him to grow this big.
Although if I wasn't focusing really hard on this matter to make it so my thoughts don't wander too much, I would have normally gone with this theory. Right now I just can't for a very important reason. How does something grow, or even live for that matter without food for a long period of time?
This thought leads into my second theory on what happened. My second theory deals with the mainly unknown energy source known as mana.
Now, I don't know much about mana, and the only thing that I know is I, and the rabbit are both made out of it. The only reason why I know that the rabbit is made out of mana is, the rabbit was made by taking mana from my mana light.
I have heard of stories, where mana or other types of energy similar to mana can be used to replace other necessary items to live. For example, food, or water. So I will just assume that Steve and his soon to be brothers and sisters, don't need food or water because of all the mana in the air.
The reason why I think that is I know that it has actually been quite a while since I made Steve. But he isn't actually dead, even after not having any food for who knows how long.
At least that is one less thing that I have to worry about. It would suck if I had to make a stable ecosystem in my dungeon because without a bunch more things available to me, it is neigh impossible.
So I guess it is time to think about why he grew so much, in a seemly short period of unknown amount of time. In the end, I think that since mana was able to make Steve, why can't more of it make him bigger?
And there you have it, girl voice, and Wade. The theory on why I think Steve is so much bigger now compared to before. "You only explained how Steve could have gotten bigger, you didn't say anything on what happened to Steve to make him so much bigger."
What?! Wade actually talked back to me again! Don't mess this up, Wade! "Oh, Haha. I guess I forgot about that part. The mana light isn't completely white so I am not in my perfect mental state right now. It makes it so I can't focus on all the details."
Then more silence for the next few minutes. Man! Why does he start talking for a short bit, then just stops talking again. It makes me so mad at him.
He is lucky that he is the only other person here that will talk to me. It makes it so he is safe from me actually taking my anger out on him.
For now at least.
The most amount of mana that I have seen, would have to be the mana cloud during the growing of my dungeon crystal. So his growth must have happened during the time that the mana cloud was still here.
If the normal amount of mana in the air is enough to cause Steve to not need to eat or drink at all. Then the amount of mana that was in the air then must have been enough to allow him to grow in size really fast.
For a small animal like Steve, a size increase like this is a big increase in his strength. So if I ever get another chance to have that much mana near me again, I should probably make sure there is a lot of rabbits near my crystal so they can get super big like Steve.
Okay. Right now I am currently not feeling the best because of the mana light not being at its peak, so I should probably start working on my room again. I still have twelve more light shows until I can start working on increasing the height of this room.
After focusing on wanting to remove more dirt two times. I finally feel weak enough that I need to refill my mana light again so I can remove more dirt.
During the refill for some reason I was actually able to allow my thoughts to wander somewhat. Maybe it is because my dungeon crystal is bigger now? But I was actually able to enjoy the feeling of refilling my mana light a little bit.
In the end though it is still a far shot from being able to do multiple things at the same time.
And now I can't wait to increase my dungeon crystal's size again since it made me able to see some real progress in terms of doing multiple things at once.
Then once the refilling was complete, the usual fast growth started again. And the size of the mana light has again increased in size by about ten percent. That feels so much better, no more feeling super weak.
Too bad it is only for now though. There is still much more work to do before I can relax.
A unknown amount of time later...
Watching another light show after another dirt removal, I instantly feel good about myself. The reason for me being so happy right now?
It is because I am finally done the third layer of my very first room! In other words, that means that I have completed my very first room. At least the first version of it.
Now it is three meters tall, and five meters wide long and wide!
At this point I have no idea how much time has actually pasted since I started working on the first layer again after that short talk with Wade. All I know is it is most likely been a long time.
During this time I even started to call each meter of height to the room a layer. Since I am working one meter cubed each time, and not increasing the height at all until I am finished one whole meter tall section, I just call each section a 'layer' to make it easier.
Get it? Good, cause I am not explaining it again, Wade.
"I didn't even need that explanation." Wade replies back to me.
At this point I don't even talk back to him because I know that he won't reply again. The only times he says something is if there is a opportunity to say a single mean thing. Then he just keeps quiet until the next opportunity comes around.
So in the end it took about nine refills of my mana light to be able to complete the first room. And before I refilled my mana light the last time, before I actually needed to do that last refill, I was able to do nine dirt removals before needing that refill.
That is a insane increase in the amount of times that I can do before I need refill compared to the very beginning where it was only two dirt removals.
I actually feel that it is time to make another rabbit.
With the discovery of how much dirt removals I can do per each refill of the mana light, I still want to make sure my mana light is at its peak before I attempt to make my second rabbit.
And right now I don't really have anything to do, without just making a small hole in the wall. I would do that if I didn't have a mild case of OCD just like everyone in the world.
Don't try and say that you don't have a mild case in at least one aspect of your life.
Mine just happens to become active when I am making things even, when there is the possibility of making it even. It didn't affect me with Steve because of how much better he looks with the slanted ears.
Can I just send my mana out of my dungeon crystal? Like empty out the mana light so I can get the full effect of recharging it. It would help Steve since it would be basically giving him a bunch of mana.
Might as well try it out. So I focus on wanting to empty out my mana from my mana light until there is barely any white left in the mana light.
After a few minutes, I feel that oh so familiar draining feeling happening again. This time it felt much larger compared to the dirt removal draining, but it is still nothing compared to what I felt when I made my Steve.
Once a few seconds go by, I feel quite weak at the same time as the draining stops happening. Which can only mean that I am now able to start refilling my mana light back up to its peak.
Within about fifteen minutes I think I am finally ready to make my second rabbit. I am still kind of scared to do this because I have no idea if I will be able to do it successfully. Which is why I took five minutes of my time to pump myself up mentally.
So with me wanting to get it started already, I start to think about wanting to make a rabbit appear in front of me. This time though I make sure that his ears are the same size, so I can tell the difference between him and Steve.
And then about five minutes later, I start to feel a drain happen on my mana light. This drain though is massive compared to what I have gotten used to with the whole dirt removal thing.
Even the emptying of my mana light was not as big as this feeling. Watching the white part of the mana light go smaller and smaller, is a very scary thing.
I really hope that it stops soon. Cause right now the white part of the mana light is already only half the size of its peak size, while there seems to be no signs that it is stopping!
