《Ancient Cultivator in Modern World》Chapter 85: Mercy and Ruthlessness

Inside a manor decorated with numerous colorful and luxurious designs, a faint silhouette of a middle-aged man clothed in a noble attire could be seen before a small table, his complexion indiscernible, yet the majestic aura that surrounded him indicated his incomparable strength.
Before him, stood a man that wore a formal attire, the man's expression contained apprehension and fear towards the middle-aged man, especially when he felt the undulations that came from surging emotions within the latter.
"What did I tell you about touching them? Do you really think that even with my Diamond Class Strength and a Divine Ascendance Realm cultivation that I could hold a candle to towards them?" The man spoke in a heavy tone, his expression turned strange as he remembered the events that happened at Perpetual Greed General Hospital, especially the horrendous sight of the Chief Executive that he assigned and the dissipated memories of the guests that eventually became retards.
Back then, he warned everyone that they should not touch those people, yet his subordinates felt indignant and tried their best in recovering at least a single footage from the dissipated room, thankfully, the black box of the Monitoring Room that was embedded inside the walls wasn't included among the destroyed ones.
In little time, they managed in obtaining the image of the perpetrator, but to their shock, they found that it was a young man whose age looked like he was in his late teens, but no matter how much disbelief they felt, the reality had presented itself, it was him alone, that attacked their underground facility.
However, the middle-aged man didn't think that it was him alone that did all of these, in contrast, he felt that someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes and he became reluctant about dealing with the young man, especially when he still doesn't understand about the background that the young man had.
But he didn't expect that his subordinates would do a preemptive strike and when they didn't find the young man, they instead abducted the young women inside his mansion and they didn't even bother to erase their traces, thinking that the middle-aged man would be able to fend off his backing.
The middle-aged man dismissed the man that stood before him and quietly sipped his tea, but suddenly, an incomparably titanic killing intent enveloped the entire mansion, forcefully subduing his presence.
"Guah!"
He spat a mouthful of blood as a backlash for trying to fight back against the pressure, his eyes shone in deep fear and reverence towards the source of the might as his eyes, darted towards the skies.
BANG!
A fierce explosion occurred, followed by the disappearance of the entire upper half of the mansion, revealing the figure of a young man with reddish hair that silently floated in the air, his eyes faintly shone in a crimson light akin to that of a bloodthirsty beast and the fluctuations that surrounded him beguiled everyone inside the mansion in kneeling down as they prostrated towards a mighty emperor of all creation.
"What is this, pressure..." The middle-aged man spoke in a hoarse tone, he tapped on a vambrace-like device on his right arm, but before a Rune could form, it fizzled out as he once again spat a mouthful of blood due to the backlash.
The youth, amidst the terrified gazes of the crowd, slowly raised his right hand and flicked, as numerous resplendent red beams soared towards the skies, striking the figures of the middle-aged man's subordinates that kneeled on the ground.
Soon, the youth descended from the skies, and with a wave of his hand, the entire mansion shone in a dazzling scarlet light as it dissipated into specks of dust, revealing the monochrome world that surrounded them.

The middle-aged man staggered backward as he scoured the surroundings, for everything, including the rowdy streets and the visages of the passerby, looked frozen as if time had completely stopped.
"Space and Time Creation?!" He spoke in a horrified and trembling tone and his figure visibly trembled as he realized that the monotone world was an independent space created by the youth, and within this independent space, everything that happened here, would not affect the real world, meaning. No matter how much destruction occurred, once the youth recalled the independent space, everything will return to normal.
However, he understood that because of this, the youth could easily dispatch him and no one would ever find the true culprit, and his expression twisted into utmost horror upon the realization that he should've never provoked such a monster, but it was already too late, for he understood that such expert wouldn't think much about his strength that was akin to an ant in their eyes.
"Are you the one that abducted my little wife?" The youth spoke in a cold and distant tone, his eyes filled with a fierce killing intent that didn't allow any lies.
"No, I'm not the one that kidnapped her! It was my subordinate that did it!" The middle-aged man hurriedly explained, but the youth only snorted and replied, "Why are you not taking responsibility for your subordinate's actions? You're the boss here, right?"
The middle-aged man swallowed a mouthful of saliva, for talking under such a domineering pressure clearly took a toll on his body, "Yes, I am the leader of them all, but I swear with my cultivation as the stake that I didn't really order them to abduct your wife!"
His venomous oath made the youth slightly relaxed as the latter revealed a slight smile and stretched his finger towards the air and gestured.
With a whizzing sound, a tear in space materialized, followed by the appearance of two wooden swords that he tossed towards the middle-aged man.
Seeing the wooden sword flying towards him, the middle-aged man immediately caught it, his expression became uncertain for he didn't understand the reason why the young man gave him a wooden sword.
"Spar with me for a bit, I need to vent all of this killing intent or I will end up decimating you all." The youth coldly explained and his figure blurred, reappearing beside the dumbfounded middle-aged man, he attacked with a horizontal slice towards the latter's waist.
A slapping sound of flesh striking a blunt object echoed followed by a pain-filled groan as the middle-aged man flew towards sidewards and was only able to stop by regaining his balance in mid-air and using the wooden sword as the brakes.
But before he could regain his calm, the youth once again appeared like a ghost beside him, but this time, he took a defensive stance with his two hands supporting the sword, yet with a boom, his figure still flew backward, despite the fact that he utilized the might of his entire cultivation base as a support.
While in mid-air the youth flew towards him and his right hand that held the wooden sword, blurred, followed by the sensation of innumerable pain that suffused the middle-aged man's body and the sound of collision between flesh and the blunt weapon.
'Fuck, this is not a spar...' He hissed and inwardly thought.
'This is a goddamned, beating!'
He wildly cursed in his mind, yet his body couldn't do anything against the young man's relentless attacks soon, his face looked like a pig's head and his figure, riddled with innumerable injuries that looked purple and full of blood.

Despite this, the young man continued his onslaught as hundreds of blows landed on the middle-aged man's body, if not for his Divine Ascendance Physique, he would've already succumbed to his injuries and fainted.
Soon, he became faint and the scene before him, turned blurry as his consciousness became fuzzy, but before he could faint, the young man would send him a surge of lifeforce which healed the injuries that dotted his body and continued his assault.
"Fuck! Stop! Why are you doing this to me?!" The middle-aged man couldn't help it anymore and scream out, without any care about his majestic image. His expression looked wronged and his eyes shone in a pleading light, yet the young man only spoke a single word and continued his offensive.
"Shut up." The youth raised his arms and fiercely slammed down the defenseless body of the middle-aged man. Although the latter wanted to defend, he found that he couldn't muster a single strength from his body, as if some kind of a persuasive interference enveloped him, and subdued his subconscious from drawing out Qi.
His throat gave miserable shrieks in each time the wooden sword struck his body, but soon, his cries and pleading became hushed, but before it could fully disappear, a surge of life force would once again heal him of all of his injuries and the beating would continue.
Only until several thousand rounds of beating occurred, did the young man stopped.
He stood before the middle-aged man that laid exhaustedly on the ground, his eyes narrowed and the killing intent contained within it startled the former as he immediately stood up, his expression looked as if he didn't want to rouse the ire of the latter.
"I will spare your dog life since I don't want any more complications within my daily life, and to do that, I need you to swear an oath with your cultivation that you will become my subordinate or, I will just annihilate you right here and now." The youth spoke an ultimatum, his expression looked solemn as he stared at the middle-aged man, waiting for his answer.
The middle-aged man's figure intensely trembled upon the young man's gaze and when he recalled the miracles that the youth displayed, he didn't hesitate in swearing a cultivation binding oath as he thought, 'At least he's infinitely stronger than those old bastards.' His eyes shone with several complicated emotions.
Even though he was older than the young man before him, he didn't feel any shame in serving him, for he believed in the idea of worshipping the strong, because only the strong could protect their loved ones from mistreatment.
"Okay, since you already swore an oath, I won't bother you any longer, and also. I will have you send my little wife and the young woman with her back to the mansion and remember that If I find, even a single strand of her hair, missing. I will make sure that you will tragically die." The youth left these words as his figure, dissipated, and with his disappearance, the colors of the world around him returned, along with the vibrancy and the rowdiness of the streets.
The middle-aged man found himself inside the previous room and he immediately pressed a button under the chair, several seconds later, several deep footsteps echoed outside the sliding door.
After a knock, the sliding door opened, revealing the figures of several men in black, but when they entered, they were astounded to find that their boss was beaten into a pighead.
"Boss! Who did that to you?!"
The lips of the middle-aged man twitched and he angrily replied with, "Whose fault is this?! You better bring those young women, here and make sure that not a single strand of hair on their heads are missing, or else I will have you pay the consequences!" He commanded and the black men scurried off the room in a hurry.
Soon, the several footsteps belonging to the men in black along with the muffled cries of a woman appeared behind the sliding door, with a creak, the door opened, and the men in black harshly pushed the young women on the ground.
Seeing this harsh treatment, the middle-aged man slapped the man that pushed the women towards the wall,
"Didn't I just told you that I'll fucking make you regret if you treat them like that?!"
The men in black's expression looked tragic as they inwardly thought, 'I thought that they're relatives of your enemy, yet why are you treating them like esteemed guests.' Despite their grievances, the middle-aged man didn't explain and just spoke with a single word.
"Scram!"
The men immediately dispersed like fish, released towards the waters.
With their disappearance, the middle-aged man anxiously removed the tape from the young women's mouth and asked them like a worried relative, "Are the two of you okay? Did those guys do something bad to you? Did you lose a strand of hair?!"
The expression of the two women turned weird, "Aren't you the one that abducted us in the first place?! Yet why are you acting like you're our mothers that didn't see us for a long time?!'
The frown on their face further intensified when they noticed that the middle-aged man that they judged as their captor, looked like pig head and his clothing in disarray, revealing the purple marks on his body.
'Did someone forced him on doing this?'
'But who...' The two fell in deep contemplation.
Seeing that the two of them were unscathed, the middle-aged man sighed in relief and said, "Wait, I'll prepare a sumptuous meal for you guys!" He revealed an awkward expression and ordered the maids on standby for a feast.
And in thirty minutes, numerous fragrant dishes with stacked dim sums could be seen on the table, the middle-aged man didn't even have a plate of his own as he stared at the young women with a slight smile on his face as he said,
"Come, eat, eat! Don't be embarrassed, just make yourselves comfortable!"
The two became speechless towards their captor's weird attitude, "Shouldn't he tie us up and force some information out of our mouths? Why is he treating us like we're a long lost relative?
Because of this, they didn't have an appetite and just took small bites of the dishes, afraid that they contained poison.
In the end, because of the hungriness that they felt from not eating dinner and the stress of being kidnapped. In the face of these luxurious and fragrant dishes, the two succumbed to temptation and wolfed down the meals, particularly Lily who targeted the meat side dishes.
Back at the mansion, a youth could be seen standing before a stove with a wok on top, cooking a fragrant dish that could tempt even a deity.
He hummed a tune as he recalled the scene that occurred earlier, although he said that a massacre would happen, when he thought about it clearly, instead of solving the problem, it would instead bring him more troubles that he didn't want to deal for the time being.
Because of this, instead of killing the middle-aged man, he made him swear an oath and place him under his wing, in the process, with the middle-aged man's background, he obtained, quite a strong backing which would enable him to smoothly acquire some information regarding Adamantite Class Magicians.
And at the same time, he also dissipated the enmity between him and the organization that he handled.
For Khan, it was the same as striking two birds with one stone.
'Well, all is well that ends well.' He inwardly thought as he hummed a tune and continued his cooking.

The Werewolf Cheerleader
Being a cheerleader is easier than being a werewolf. Jessica Tumbleleague is a typical teenage girl who loves being a cheerleader at Moondale High. But after an encounter with a werewolf in the woods, Jessica discovers a frightening world she never thought is real. Dangerous magic, deadly fierce spirits, and other malevolent creatures. Now Jessica must fight the forces of darkness to protect her hometown while balancing her supernatural life with her high school life. But can she control the beast within herself? Note: This is a rewrite of the original with the same name. I decided to change the third-person style to first-person because I liked Jessica's voice better. She is funny and very strong. With the story only focusing on her, I can keep the mystery suspenseful and the reader can experience what Jessica is experiencing. It is a typical YA style, but it is fun to write as your main character. There are changes, but the first and second books will be similar to the third-person chapters. Let me know what you think and I hope you will enjoy this new version of the Werewolf Cheerleader. I will post the chapters every Friday in the afternoon. P.S, there is a Werewolf Cheerleader short story published in the Tales of Dungeons, All Hallows book. Titled The Werewolf Cheerleader: Castle and Ghouls. The short is also in first-person, which made me decide to change the book series into first-person. The link is below if you want to check it out. https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B08MCS82R5

Fade
The story follows the life of John Grimshaw. From tragic beginnings to hopeful ends, John embarks on a quest for meaning. When visiting the cemetery he meets a girl named Jennifer Stone, a youthful teenager who quickly becomes a safety raft for John in turbulent times. But nothing could have prepared John for when he met the man in the pinstripe suit. The man with bright eyes, dark skin, and gleaming white teeth. The man claiming to the impossible and break the thin ice below John's feet entirely. (ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER) This story starts off relatively dark. Those who dislike subject material surrounding loss, depression, grief, should probably not read. With that said, the story evolves into a supernatural thriller past the initial chapters. It’s a comparably low fantasy for a website like this but hope some of you still enjoy it.

The Order
The Order takes place within the Human-led Empire, within Glory City. In this Empire in which Magic is policed and its use is regulated, Mages are required to have a licence in order to practice Magic. The Magically inclined, Non-Human Races that have lived under Human rule lived a markedly different life to Humans, which had led to a somewhat contentious relationship. A law enforcement agency known as The Order is responsible for maintaining Magical order, and is also responsible for doling out justice to those who break the law. Consisting of the Magic using Mages, and the more technologically inclined Knights, these Agents are regarded as protectors by some, but as oppressors by many. The tale follows the exploits of Izano Zuko, a mysterious man, covered from head to toe in burn scars and wrapped in bandages. He arrives in Glory City with the backing of the City Lord, unknown abilities and secret intentions. Trouble starts up almost as soon as he arrives, and Zuko is thrown into a conflict between the Order and an unknown enemy. This is a complete book, and I plan to upload a chapter every week or so. No cover as yet.
