《Ancient Cultivator in Modern World》Chapter 16: Muspelheim[3]

The night passed without suspense, throughout the dinner, although Khan felt that the culinary skills of the current world greatly surpassed the taste of the ancient times, he could only shake his head, unable to savor the taste, thanks to the atmosphere that surrounded the group.
Lily glared at him with a stare that didn't allow any interruptions, Elder Gabica quietly ate with a bitter smile on his face. After the dinner time, he tried to explain to Lily but all he got was a huge bang on the door that Lily had shut.
'Man... No matter when, women really are hard to handle...' Khan thought, complex emotions could be seen from his smile.
Morning came, as Khan went towards the living room, he could hear the sounds of people conversing. He walked towards the source and found the two looking towards a huge black device.
Displayed on the device were people laughing together and talking with silly topics. Lily sat on the couch as she laughed, and Elder Gabica sat beside her with a small smile.
The atmosphere of the two became sweet and gentle as the wind, prompting Khan to smile as he decided that he wouldn't disturb the two. However, he stopped in his tracks thanks to Elder Gabica calling his name.
With an awkward smile, Khan turned, his gaze momentarily pausing at Lily who snorted and turned away in return.
Elder Gabica noticed this and looked at Khan with a helpless gaze. 'It seems like the explaining should really be done today or else I would have countless troubles in the future.' Khan thought in his mind.
"Have you had breakfast, yet? We bought some soy milk and fried dough sticks." Elder Gabica gestured at the table near the couch.
"Oh, fried dough sticks? that's a nostalgic name, I'll have some." Khan didn't bother with the pleasantries and sat down.
"By the way, where did you get the funds to buy these things?" Khan asked towards Elder Gabica while snapping a dough stick into two and dunking it on the soy milk.
"Money? It is not a problem since I actually have a job here. Now that I think about it, are you interested in joining a University? I could make you enter through the backdoor since today is the start of the enrollment." Elder Gabica said with a small smile on his face.
Feeling intrigued, Khan asked.
"University? You're a professor here?"
"Yeah, I teach at the University of Modern Magic." Elder Gabica spoke, his face suffused with a mysterious smile.

"Grandpa! I also want to enter the University, help me, please!" Lily turned towards her grandfather and pouted, her cheeks puffed, making her incredibly cute.
"Now that I think about it, you said that you wouldn't enter a University since you hate those guys who pester you all the time right? Remember that University?" Elder Gabica replied with a questioning gaze.
"Yeah, but I have Khan so it's okay!"
'Oy, when did I become a bodyguard?' Khan retorted in his mind, but upon seeing the mirthful visage of Lily, he could only keep it to himself.
"It seems like everything is settled. After breakfast let's go at the University of Modern Magic." Elder Gabica spoke with a gentle smile, when he turned to Khan, his eyes made a small wink which incensed Khan to the point of incessantly sighing.
With breakfast finished, two figures could be seen standing outside the door of the mansion. One looked like a delinquent thanks to his fiery reddish hair and the contour of his face which imposed a majestic aura towards the surroundings, while the other had an olden figure with a gentle like the breeze calming aura on his body.
"Lily, are you finished yet? Why do you take so long when changing clothes?" Khan knocked on the door with an irritated voice, however, the same reply that he started to hear thirty minutes ago echoed.
"I'm almost finished!"
"That's the thirtieth time that you said that!" Khan facepalmed.
"Does she normally take that long when changing clothes?"
Elder Gabica's smile stiffened, his gaze towards Khan turned weird, turning his head away, he said.
"Just for whom do you think is she dressing?" Elder Gabica murmured, prompting Khan to reply.
"Hmm?"
"Nothing!"
"Man, you two really are weirdos..."
After about another twenty minutes of waiting, a pair of footsteps could finally be heard approaching, with a creaking sound, the door opened and revealed a scenery which could only be described as stunning.
Lily walked out with a smile, her upper body adorned with a clothing that emphasized her bountiful chest, although it invoked certain emotions to men, it didn't seem to be lascivious, on her lower body there laid an aquamarine frill skirt that would flutter in response to her slight movements.
Coupled with her fair skin and symmetric visage, she could be considered as a person that could topple kingdoms and destroy empires. However, as for Khan who had seen innumerable beauties that could even surpass Lily. The sight before him looked normal as he said.

"Finally done? Let's go." His lackluster line startled Lily who froze on her footsteps. Seeing the back of Khan her mind went blank as she stood there dumbfounded.
Upon witnessing this, Elder Gabica could only pat her granddaughter in a quiet consolation.
The three walked in a formation where Elder Gabica stood in the middle. Lily had her cheeks puffed while Khan walked there, appreciating the scene.
His gaze turned towards Elder Gabica as a question surfaced in his mind.
"Senior, since you have a job here, why did you go towards the Divine Pills Sect when the two of you are being bullied there?" Elder Gabica's footsteps froze, along with Lily.
Lily clutched her grandfather's sleeves, her fingers trembling. Khan frowned, his eyes turned at Elder Gabica.
"You can just call me by my first name, Muskan. As for the reason why..." When he spoke the latter part of his sentence, he froze, shook his head and continued.
"You will later know why." With a lonely smile, Elder Gabica turned towards a huge skyscraper that pierced the clouds above. Khan also directed his gaze towards it.
"That's the University of Modern Magic."
"Hmmm..." Khan pondered, the skyscraper didn't really bother him. Even though it looked ridiculously tall. He had seen countless scenes which were more ridiculous than this skyscraper. What bothered him was Elder Gabica's reply to his concern.
'It seems like there's something going on between the Ancient Cultivators and these modern magicians.' He could only keep the question in his mind as they neared the University.
"Hey, hey... Isn't that the one and only Physical Instructor, Muskan Gabica?" The crowd of students turned their heads towards Khan's group. They didn't even bother to hide the disdain in their eyes.
"What's wrong with them? Are students these days like this? Did they parents teach them about how to respect the elders?" Khan murmured in displeasure, however, this didn't go unnoticed by one of the most aggressive kids as they leaped towards them and blocked their path.
"Just what did you say, brat?!" A young man who seemed to be the leader came out and shouted, his spittle flying everywhere.
Khan's face distorted in disgust, he turned to look at Elder Gabica and found that the Elder had a grim face.
"I said that you're trash!" Khan retorted although he felt that it was beneath for him to fight with these guys, after he looked at Elder Gabica, he found that it would be necessary for the future.
If you just stood there and let your enemies attack you, you would seem like a cowardly person. The only way to vanquish these bastards was to show them who has the bigger fist.
"Trash? You talentless bastards are calling me trash? Looks like you really need a beating!" The young man tapped on his wrist as a flow of runes materialized on his body.
His surrounding comrades stared in shock as they shouted. "Boss, that's going too far! We might not get away with this!"
"Shut up! Who would even side with these talentless bastards who only knows how to fight with their body?!" The young man turned towards his lackey and retorted.
However, his eyes widened in shock mixed with fear when he saw that Khan disappeared like smoke from his initial position.
"I'm here..." Khan's murmur startled the group as they really didn't notice when Khan arrived. Khan's fingers formed a sword as he stabbed towards the flowing runes.
A sound akin to glass breaking exploded, followed by a loud thud. The young man fell face down, his status unknown.
"Wha..." His lackeys stared in shock as if they could not believe their eyes.
The crowd who looked forward towards the show gasped. For they didn't know the method that the young man before them stood to defeat the fallen thug.
Even Elder Gabica and Lily gasped in surprise. Even though they were beside Khan, they only felt a gust of wind before he reappeared behind the young man.
Khan's eyes shone with a murderous light, he gazed towards the remaining delinquents and said. "Anyone of you guys still wants more?"
The group scattered, the stronger ones carried their boss as they scrammed away like their lives are in the line.
"Khan... What did you just do...?" Elder Gabica asked his tone quivering.
"Hmm? Just a simple movement technique." Khan winked with a teasing smile.
"No, not that, Just how did you dissipate the run-" Khan interrupted him with an shh with his finger on his lips. The two could only nod and proceed towards the University amidst their shock.
Amidst the crowds who watched them. There stood a young woman with a reddish hair. Her lips curved into a smile as she murmured.
"Quite interesting..."
Her figure blurred and disappeared like a bubble, the crowd where she once stood didn't even notice her disappearance, as if she was never there in the first place.

5 1360The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).
8 162Nighthawk
Ancient tombs hold mysteries and treasures that many cannot even begin to imagine. From magical traps to deadly monsters, mechanisms are established to keep these tombs shut. However, there are brave souls who dare to risk their lives for the allure of riches and glory. Those who rob graves and storm tombs are known as Nighthawks. Lucrio Law, the young heir of Tosa, doesn’t care about graves or tombs. In fact, he doesn’t care about much besides drinking, gambling, and womanizing. But when circumstances leave him ensnared by a centuries-old curse, Luc is forced to walk the path of a Nighthawk, searching for the cure to his curse and discovering that some things are meant to stay buried. Author's Note: - This story will contain litrpg elements like Titles, Skills, and Levels. - MC will not become instantly powerful. I plan for a slower grind with a focus on the characters themselves rather than their abilities. - This is my first attempt at a litrpg story, so please leave any comments/suggestions you have!
