Previously on 'To Remember...'
The blood thirst was getting even stronger by the second and three people had fainted from the pressure. Jason was holding his ground quite fiercely.
I was surprised at that but even more so at Mordred who was emanating this killing intent.
‘Hey Mordred, stop it’
No answer.
‘What’s wrong? Did Jason do something?’
Still no answer. Instead I had this feeling that Mordred was going to materialize and kill this boy.
My eyes widened, ‘Mordred! Calm down!’
“Hold your horses, you stupid Angel” Lilian’s snappy voice came through.
“True. True. The hair is even different. Has anger blinded you?” Maddie joined in.
I narrowed my eyes confused. ‘What were they talking about?'
Mordred’s lust for blood began to dim slowly. Till it was fully gone.
'Stupid Angel... there's no way she referring to Mordred, right?' I pondered.
Lilian sighed, “And here I thought the only surprise would be seeing the Butcher” and sat down into her seat flinging her hair behind her.
Maddie seemed to scan her with her eyes before laughing cheerily and facing her front.
‘Is it just me or are these two---‘
‘I apologize deeply My Lady’ Mordred voice disrupted my thoughts, ‘I wasn’t thinking so clearly. The moment I saw him…’
‘James resembles someone I guess?’ I asked.
‘No, not at all. But he has the same rare eyes’
‘Ah, those hazel… could it be, I know the owner of those eyes’
Mordred fell silent.
‘Well, I’ll find out sooner or later even if you don’t tell me’ I smiled and watched as the biology teacher finally walked into the classroom.
“Sorry” He chuckled, “Traffic”
Loud sighs came from all corners of the room as we’d come in and waited for quite a while. Well, him being late was not that unusual though.
Then something in my mind repeated, ‘…the only surprise would be seeing the butcher’
‘Huh? Butcher is..?' my mind replayed Christmas Eve.
‘The white enchantress and the butcher…’ Mordred had said.
I stood up immediately with my chair screeching as it scrapped the floor, “Lilian, what did you say earlier??!”I shrieked trying to confirm if my mind was toying with me or not.
“Ms. Baker, is something wrong?” the teacher asked and I realized I’d taken the attention of everyone in class.
“No…” I said softly sitting back down, “nothing”
Lilian looked back at Elizabeth for a second and then faced forward while muttering, “Not as fast as I expected”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Let's go somewhere to eat together?” Maddie asked immediately the bell rang.
"Hmm? No, I’ll eat here like usual", I replied absentmindedly.
"Aren't you curious?" came a voice.
I haven't heard this voice before....but I knew it somehow so I looked up.
But I saw Lilian. Weird.
"Aren't you curious?" came the voice again.
Only this time, I saw Lilian's mouth move.
"How are you doing that?" I asked dumbfounded.
"Doing what?" She replied innocently.
"Changing your voice so well..." I trailed off at the end, "Yes. I am curious" I stated.
"Is that so? Then follow me" she said smilingly and walked away.
'My Lady, may I suggest something?' Mordred spoke. He'd been silent for quite a while.
"Uh-huh. You only talk to me when you need something" I said sulky as I stood up from the chair following her.
Maddie got up to and joined us with a smirk on her face. 'What was she so smug about? Did these two plan something?'
'I apologize... I was in deep thought'
"About what?"
'Vetranos', came the soft reply.
"I see", then I was silent for a bit. Then I remembered why he spoke, "what did you want to suggest?"
'Ah, that you don't follow Ms. Lilian?'
"You look like a creep talking to yourself like that" Maddie said flatly, looking at me.
"Eh?" i gasped shocked and clasped my hand over my mouth. I didn't realize I'd been speaking out loud.
She just grinned.
"Here" came Lilian's voice and I looked up to see we were on the door that led to the roof.
'How did we get here?' I wondered seeing as I followed them subconsciously. I walked past the door with them and Lilian closed it.
'What do you mean by don't follow them, Mordred?', I asked bringing out my lunch and about to sit down.
‘You already… My Lady, Watch Out!’
“Eh?” left my mouth and I found myself flying before hitting the rails with my back.
“Ouch! That fucking hurts”, I grimaced putting my hand on my back.
“Is that so?” the earlier voice said. Still from Lilian’s mouth.
“Ho~” Maddie chuckled just leaning on the wall watching.
“What the hell just happened?” I bellowed.
“Scary~” the voice from Lilian mocked and Lilian appeared in front of me as I blinked.
“Wha—”
Black feathers blinded my eyes and Mordred materialized blocking the incoming punch and making Lilian take a step back.
“Tch, you can already materialize” She grumbled
“My lady still has her power, you know?” Mordred glared.
“Of course, I know”, the voice from Lilian replied, “though, she doesn’t seem to know how to use it as well”, a smile crept on Lilian’s face.
‘She noticed fast!’ Mordred’s eyes widened and he gritted his teeth, bending his back a bit.
“Oh my~ this will be quite interesting. Have been wanting to fight you for centuries” Lilian chuckled and her turquoise pupils disappeared leaving just the white, “you wouldn’t mind if I go a bit crazy, would ya, Vodka”
“No, I am enjoying the spectacular scene” came a different voice from Maddie but it was a male voice.
I narrowed me eye, ‘Could it be…?!’
Mordred and Lilian lifted up the floor at the same and I heard a loud bang. Mordred’s feet and Lilian’s collided and they were both sent back and tumbled to the ground before standing.
“As expected of a familiar that’s a fallen angel”, Lilian chuckled, “I, Rene, want to fight even more now!” she cackled as her killing intent enveloped the place. Her eyes had a crazy hue as the only focused on Mordred.
(AN: From now on Lilian will be Rene till Lilian gets hold of her body)
I noticed that she was focused on Mordred so I decided to try my luck and intervene with their battle, helping Mordred in the process. Almost as soon as my shoulders moved upwards, they were soon forced back down. “Do not interfere” came the curt voice.
I looked up to see Maddie grinning. She looked at me carefully before saying, “What the hell happened?” and then bursting out laughing.
%%%%%%
Mordred jumped back before clenching his fists and jutting forward as twelve ice shards appeared circling around him.
Rene’s face adopted a devilish grin and her eyes seemed to flash red even though it was plane white.
‘Dammit, for someone blind, she’s too hard to suppress’, Mordred grumbled inwardly.
He controlled the shards to imbed her at the sides to which Rene swiftly maneuvered her body avoiding the shards and charging towards him. He reacted a second too late as he was withdrawing the only shard remaining before Rene got hold of his mana signal.
She used the wind to cut open his sides and he retreated fast with the aid of ‘lightning burst’. His innate restorative abilities came to his aid however he was already at half of his mana and it had just been 1 minutes since the fight begun.
Rene smirked and using ‘wild fire’ was enveloped in flames as she charged towards Mordred. The icicles around her melted at the immense heat which the ‘wild fire’ gave. ‘His proficiency is ice magic is rather weak if you ask me. If it was the Violet Goddess, my flames would be doused’ she chuckled inwardly as she continued charging.
She slashed once again at Mordred’s waist, ‘Angels are always troublesome to fight’ she cringed as she watched the damage heal.
Mordred’s left leg rose up with tremendous force and an explosive sound came through and blood erupted from his legs and Rene’s previously clean uniform adopted a stain of blood. But the blood was not Mordred’s. His hands clenched, he went for the same spot and she anticipated it and wove her body around his arm before delivering a firm blow to his shoulders to which a CRACK was heard.
“Hmph” she scoffed but then she felt an immense pain in her back. No… it was like her skin was shredded and disappearing slowly. Her wild fire was also disappearing. “I forgot you have her energy, damn!” She roared furiously.
She dabbled in nature magic but not light magic so she couldn’t end the scorching leech. She felt helpless with this thing and cursed Mordred before vowing to take him down with her.
Rene was visibly infuriated, “I let my guard down!” she shrieked and in one swift motion, adopted the stance of the ‘butterfly’ and put it into effect.
“Shit, she’s planning to take me with her” Mordred’s grin was wiped off his face as he tried to go into a counter stance, ‘been a while so I am very rusty!’ he cursed madly.
Rene’s eyes glowed brightly and her dainty body moved to the left as her two hand crossed with the right above the left and she lifted off the floor.
Mordred’s right hand went across his chest and his left hand adopted a tiger claw. He moved into the air.
Rene spread out her hands fulfilling the image of a butterfly and the two hands, with only two fingers out of each, came falling down at the same pace with her knees raised up. The hands were all of a sudden enveloped in red ki and blue energy force. Raw.
Mordred clenched his right fist and his left hand glowed with purple energy force and they were about to collide when a surge of raw blood soaked mana wafted across their senses and the alarms in their head went off.
Rene immediately invoked wildfire again while Mordred lightning pulse and they moved back at faster speeds than when they first used the spells.
A loud clap enveloped the area and Vodka appeared where Rene and Mordred were about to collide. (AN: Maddie will now be Vodka from this point).
“W-What do you think you’re doing??” Rene screamed infuriated.
“Temper issues”, Vodka cringed as he stated playfully then his eyes turned cold, “I never knew you came to throw your life away here”
Rene’s eyes widened and she looked away. Then a howl of pain left her mouth as she fell to her knees clutching her back, “Dammit”
Mordred held his leg that was showing no signs of healing and fell to the floor.
“If I remember clearly, you came her to check if the Queen truly ran away abandoning her people, right?”
Rene let out groan of acknowledgement.
Vodka quietly moved downwards till his feet touched the ground, “Mordred, stop the spell”
“I can’t. My mana was wiped out to cast the scorching spell in the first place. The rest I had was used for the tiger counter” he spoke, his voice betraying his pain.
“Why did you cast a spell like that?!” Vodka growled angrily.
“Well, she was going to kill me if I didn’t!” Mordred retorted wile panting.
Vodka sighed heavily and his hands glowed white and he reached for Rene. Her whole body was enveloped in white light and she sighed in relief as the feeling of her flesh being eaten and her mana being reduced disappeared.
“You’re lucky it wasn’t from Agnes” Vodka said sternly.
“Hmph, this Agnes can’t do anything anyways” Rene snapped.
“That body of yours is not of an immortal's. Are you trying to destroy it?” Vodka growled.
It was obvious to any onlooker who was the boss here. Rene’s face grew a bit dim as she realized she could have just trapped herself in a dead body.
Vodka chuckled before facing Agnes, “Do you mind repeating what you said a few moments ago?”
