《The Dragon Clan Revived》Chapter 8: The Operation Part 2
Advertisement
Hello, I decided to add another chapter earlier than I usually do because all of the suggestions I got really pumped me up and excited to start using them soon. Sorry if this one is little small, I didn't want to make the mini-arc keep dragging on, there will be either 1 or maybe 2 more parts to it. Hope you all enjoy this chapter!
Special thanks to:
Spoiler : Regentas for the idea on the operation mini-arc
Also, for the people who added suggestions in the last thread, I really appreciate them and will use them too.

-----[Faramir Kingdom], [Mazef Continent], Outside of dungeon at army camp-----
Near the entrance of the dungeon several tents can be seen packed together in clusters surrounding one large tent. These tents are for the army and have soldiers walking back and forth talking and eating dinner with each other around the campfires near the tents. The adventurers that join the dungeon diving are pitching tents a small distance away from the army, so they can divide the two. Usually this would be odd to have a dungeon diving team split up, however the army is going to be entering first with the adventurers following behind. This is because if both are mingling together in the dungeon, the army’s small formations will go into disarray, causing needless deaths. Of course right now it doesn’t matter if they mingle so currently there are both soldiers and adventurers communing with each other.
Right now Xaramax’s group has a tent among the other adventurers and currently waiting for Rexx to come back and report on the gossip floating around the army camp on why the Prince himself is leading such a large force to tackle a dungeon. It isn’t ordinary to do such a thing since it can be seen by others as overkill.
Rexx, being the one who will cause the least attention to himself has been chosen for this small task. As he is walking around the camp and talking to others or listening in he is hearing the same type of comments between soldiers such as,
“It seems like the king wanted Prince Rolan to get some experience in combat and thought it a good idea to use this dungeon as a chance for him to grow some hair on his chest hahaha.”
These sort of random remarks were prominent during the chattering. Rexx, seeing that he won’t get anything more than important than this, comes back to report to Xaramax before he might get restless or annoyed. He definitely doesn’t want to incur the wrath of a dragon. After hearing the reason for the huge dungeon team, Xaramax feels there is something odd about the situation.
‘If that were the case then why would they invite adventurers when they have enough people already? Maybe there is more going on behind the scenes and inviting adventurers will make it look less suspicious if there were only the army instead? Plus they are telling the adventurers to stay in the back where they will be of little help at all. Why would the prince need to gain experience on raiding a dungeon? It would be better if he learned tactics on subjects such as the battlefield and politics. This needs more investigation…’

Xaramax tells the others to eat without him and also tells Valexii to stay behind with the group. Everyone else just assumes he is going out to hunt as a dragon so they return to talking and eating. Since it is night time and is still dinner time it gives the perfect opportunity for him to use his darkness element to shroud himself so others cannot see him.
Using Shadow Stride he makes his way over to the largest tent in the center where the Prince resides. He finally gets close enough to hear what is being said inside,
“Are you positive that she was taken inside?”
“Yes your Highness, we tracked her to the cave of the dungeon but whatever it was that kidnapped her went inside so we have no idea as to what happened to her. My apologies.”
“Dammit, its fine just make sure all of the men who know about this remain tight-lipped or their heads will be on the chopping block and families sold to slavery! No one must know about this!”
“Y-yes your Highness!”
After that a flustered and sweating soldier in fancy armor walks out of the tent slowly, and once he gets outside he almost runs away swearing obscenely on how he hopes some bastards aren’t loudmouths. Xaramax stays behind for a few seconds and hears the prince talk to himself in a low voice,
“Amber, please be safe, as your fiancée I will definitely save you tomorrow, don’t worry.”
‘Ah so that’s what it was…if the adventurers stay at the back then it will be less of a chance for the news to leak once they find her in the dungeon. And if any of the soldiers tomorrow see his fiancée they can just be threatened by using their family as hostages. Petty humans. Well I think I should take a visit and see this woman Amber for myself hehehe.’
He notices that since the daytime just turned into night he would have enough time to search the dungeon if he kept Shadow Stride up and dodged any mobs in the dungeon. Calculating it he believes it shouldn’t take more than 5 hours since he is confident in his darkness element abilities. First he goes back to the tent and explains his idea while telling them if he doesn’t come back just continue with the adventurers tomorrow and enter the dungeon without him. Dawn, Nikki and Valexii try to object but to no avail as he has already cloaked himself and left.
-----1st floor of dungeon----
Entering the dungeon, on the walls is a sparse amount of torches that look to be fueled by mana continuously. This however, isn’t a problem as Xaramax can move around them whenever he likes. The only problem is the traps laid out in various locations including pit-falls, poison darts, etc. It helps that he has the greatest vision out of all the races, and reflexes that rival the greatest of fighters on Earth. Combined with his strength monsters die a merciless death by his brutal attacks.

Using ice to create gauntlets and fire to wrap around his legs, he massacres goblins and other weak creatures on the first floor. In a short time that would make most adventurers stoked, he arrives at the floor bosses room. After opening the door, the sight in front of him leaves him speechless and equally confused.
The vast room is a small grassland biome with many different flowers and gives a surreal feeling of calmness. The complete opposite of what he expected. He thought as a dungeon the room would be filled with a pool of blood and some demon sitting on a giant stone throne watching him enter as the walls would have tortured people shackled and crying, with torture devices spread out all over.
‘Uh, ok maybe not…I was at least thinking there would be a throne…’
Taking a look around the mini grassland of about 50m x 50m he spots a woman at the far end standing above something. Walking further with his body on guard he gets within a 5m distance of the woman when she turns around and gives a quizzical look to him saying,
“Are you here to kill the floor boss? Or are you here on behalf of that asshole who calls himself my fiancée?”
Stunned, Xaramax glances over to the now deceased floor boss. It was a plant-type monster that looks like the earth version of a Venus Fly Trap, only its size is gigantic. Its height was probably 10m tall however now it’s lying on the soft grass in pieces as if it was put through a blender and tossed out, then burned until its completely black. Xaramax asks,
“Did you kill it by yourself? And can I get your name, mine is Xaramax.”
She smiles innocently (which looks scary in this situation) and replies,
“Name is Amber, and yep, the piece of shit flower almost fucked up my dress but I sliced him up with wind magic and scorched him before he could lay his grubby little vines on me!”
Blown away by her obscene ‘sailor mouth’ he backs up to take another look at this firecracker of a woman. She’s human, standing at about 5’ 8” with red hair that flows down to her waist and a face that could enchant the most pure and chaste monk to have a primal male impulsive reaction. Not to mention her captivating body and breasts that fill her red dress nicely. Her red lips and eyes that have a fiery no-nonsense look that give an impression of someone who doesn’t give a damn about what others think of her. Furthermore in Xaramax’s opinion she seems like a person that would rather die than be in a marriage with the prince…
“I’d rather get executed than marry that twat of a prince.”
‘Well I wasn’t far off on that one.’ Still reeling from the sight of beauty in front of him he barely utters out a sentence,
“…so you didn’t get kidnapped?”
She laughs then responds, “Hell no, I was being taken by carriage to his castle and didn’t want to go, so I killed all of the guards that were with me and burned it all to a crisp then left. Of course I was being a retard and forgot to cover my tracks so that royal dickhead followed me until I realized it was too late. So I found this dungeon and hid out here. I thought that maybe I could kill whoever he sent here if I continued down as far as I could go. Since the monsters here respawn I figured by the time I got far enough they would be battling the monsters when they respawn and die before they get to me. And right after I finished with this flower-thingy you entered. The prince must think I got kidnapped huh.”
‘She killed the guards like it was nothing? Hehe I might have found another woman for myself, sorry-not-sorry prince. She’s just a little inexperienced though. Did she not believe that the prince would bring a whole army to get her back? Also if she can get this far, that means others could just as easily do the same.’
After pondering for a few moments, Xaramax has decided a plan. He just needs to get the OK from Amber and then return to camp to tell the group.
“Okay so I have a plan to get you out of here and away from the prince forever. You’ll just have to put your trust in me for this.”
Amber looks at Xaramax speculatively for a moment then deciding she believes him, she says,
“Sure, so what’s the plan?”
He grins then replies, “Next phase: the swap.”

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.
