《Trench》Aftermath #2

Healing magic is probably one of the most overestimatet kinds magic out there.

I can't count how often people knocked on my door pleading to help someone who's already dead or will be in a few seconds.

I'm neither a god nor a Saint who can revive the dead, there is probably no one who can. But even if you have the money to pay for my service and the wounded is still alive, I won't be able to save them every time, especially if the wounds are too large or the patient simply lost too much blood.

Because against common belief magic is not I repeat is not almighty!!!

The only thing that it can really do is fasten the regeneration of the patient himself, and it doesn't do it for free oh surprise! oh surprise!, it uses the nutrients of the body to "repair" the damaged area, so if you are already on the brink of death, it will kill you for sure.

So stop giving me the blame if someone dies!!

and I swear to Iskaia!

IF I FIND THE PERSON WHO SHATTERD MY WINDOW YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF THAT SHIT!

IM GONNA FUCKING FIND YOU

AND BREAK YOUR KNEE CAPS!

Note on a clinic door in the Capital of the Empire

Alfred then rummages in his bag searching for food, and after a while he pulls a dark piece of beef jerky out of his bag and hands it to Erza

"We still have to secure the perimeter before we sit back, so we can't eat properly yet"

he replies to her question.

Disappointed, she takes the dried meat, and begun chewing on it slightly demotivated.

"Let's get back to the goblin shaman you took down, according to the law the person owns anything of value that took down the monster, however we would buy the things of value from you if you are not interested."

Alfred offers, while looking towards El.

"Could I have a look at the things first before I decide?"

El asks.

In answer to his question

Alfred Nods and sends two of his men to get the stuff.

Shortly afterwards they come through the door with arms packed full of various things.

The two men look around briefly,

and after they find a place to put the stuff they walk towards it.

With a thud, some of the bloody goblin possessions land on the almost broken table.

Curious, El approaches the things while one of the two men tries to spread the stuff out neatly.

El recognises some of the objects,

For example, the rusty dagger that one of the goblins used to wound his thigh lays next to the goblin staff.

But there are also some new items scattered around, such as a brown leather bag.

As El picks the bag to look at it more closely, one of the men behind him begins to speak.

"We found this with the shaman, but we haven't had time to look inside it yet."

Curious, the others in the room now come a bit closer to the table, Erza doesn't want to miss it either and takes a step closer, still chewing on the piece of meat.

When El notices the curiosity of the others, he was more motivated on opening the bag, so he grabs the brown button with both fingers and lifts the lether latch.

The pungend smell of decay hits him right in to the face.

Disgusted, his emotions contort, Protective he holds the bag now with outstretched arms trying to get it as far away from his nose as possible.

The others around him also distance themselves, disgusted noises like ehh, or irghs can be heard around him, while they step back.

When the smell has subsided after a while, El pulls the bag towards him again, this time he slowly opens the leather flap.

Something glistens slightly in the orange light that falls into the bag, but as Elm curiosly reaches in,

to take it out,

his finger brushes against something sticky.

Surprised he jerks his hand out of the bag, a little too quickly as Erza who's standing behind him, gets his elbow right in to the face.

She stumbles back, groaning,

Both hands pressed against her nose.

"Shit, I'm so sorry".

El apologieses in a panic and reaches out to her.

"It's okay, I just need to sit down."

Erza presses out of her teeth and gropes for the stool near her.

"It's late anyway, we should go to sleep, you can look at this stuff tomorrow, it won't run away from you,

Also Elisabeth needs rest and she can't get it while you all are so loud"

Anne El's mother ordered, without letting room for any objections.

At first El wanted to contradict, but the long day had taken its toll on him too.

And after he disappointedly puts the bag back on the table, he starts walking up the stairs to his room.

Once there,

he lies down on the bed and closes his heavy eye lids.
