《Darius Supreme》Chapter 41
Advertisement
Darius spent the rest of the day in the library instead of heading out again. He changed his mind not because of Portia, but because of the wealth of knowledge Shanks possessed in the form of books.
In truth, Darius had been clumsy. He had assumed that since Shanks was a soldier, he would be a meathead with little education or interest in knowledge, but he was wrong to have stereotyped the man.
He had everything, from geography to history, modern literature, sociology, mathematics, and even some books on magical theory and combat theory!
Darius had surprisingly chosen to pick up the books on history first, rather than magical theory. He then spent the rest of the day parsing through them quickly with Portia watching on with shock.
When Darius explained that he had an eidetic memory and could memorize it on a single glance, she gazed at him with respect and envy. Darius was just the perfect scholar and mage type!
Darius was excited the more he read. So much of the information he slowly acquired filled up the holes in the small Infoblock he received about the Andrato Kingdom and its history.
All he had known was that it had existed for about 300 years and had about 5 rulers, but he finally discovered how and why it was formed, as well as what recognition it received to be called a state.
Now, he discovered that the Andrato Kingdom was a subsidiary state of a larger and more powerful kingdom called Fraterina. It was a kingdom that was matriarchal in nature due to the founding mother being an ex-valkyrie.
It had existed for more than 5,000 years, after a divine war between the various churches and demonic factions. Darius was intrigued by this tidbit, but it was not storied in the history book since it wasn't the direct reason for the formulation of the Andrato Kingdom.

However, it confirmed a few things for Darius. There were deities in this world and they, unlike on Earth, made themselves known. This was something he had suspected to exist after hearing Caesar speak of Dragons and whatnot, so he wasn't too jilted.
It did make Darius wonder though, how did the 'Supreme' stage fit in all this? Was it a level above deities? One step below them? Or an intermediary?
According to Caesar, the highest stage currently achievable was Grandmaster. Since this was between level 80 to 100, could the world have mistaken Grandmasters for deities since they were the highest point of power?
After all, if Darius reached level 80, his stats and skill would be a whole different level from right now. It was likely he would be able to fly, crush mountains with a punch, and call thunderstorms to destroy an entire city.
What else could that be but a God to the weak? Especially to the lesser educated masses of Faust who were still in the heavy religious/superstitious phase which earth had long shed away.
Then again, these were speculations. He would have to endeavor to learn more about the deities and the churches, and thankfully he had Portia for that. However, Darius didn't want to go on a tangent just yet.
By the time it was 9 pm, he had already discovered that the first queen of Andrato Kingdom had been only of the princesses of Fraterina Kingdom sent here to subdue the Plains of Death as punishment.
It was a form of exile for a sin she had committed… which was trying to advocate for more rights for men.
When Darius read this, his eyebrows furrowed deeply. It seemed Fraterina was a spitting example of a sexist state, where the dominant sex - male or female - treated the other as a subordinate sex.

If there was a Fraterina, there would definitely be a Fraterino, where the opposite dynamic existed.
However, ever since the first founder, named Julietta, settled down with her allies to form the Andrato Kingdom, the power balance between both sexes had been neutralized.
Darius saw a note from either Shanks or Portia that stated: "The Royal Court is still split into two; those who want to adopt the traditions of the mother kingdom then return to her fold and those who want to adhere to the wishes of the founder."
Darius rubbed his face with frustration. So before he had even entered the noble circles, he had already been hamfisted into a faction, which was obviously the one that supported the founder.
Supporting the other one would be shooting himself in the foot unless he could find a way to change his gender, which, even if it was possible, he had no interest in doing.
After reading this far, he was a bit tired and decided to go to bed. Portia escorted him to his room, once again hoping for something more, only for Darius to bid her goodnight.
As such, the young lass could only slink away with her head lowered and her expression downcast.
Darius plopped into bed and sorted all the knowledge he had acquired today. The one thing he was most interested in now wasn't even the divine war from the ages past that led to the formation of Fraterina, but the Plains of Death.
Exactly what secrets did that place hold that made it imperative for the Fraterina Kingdom to send one of their princesses here? Was it a figurative or literal goldmine? A growing threat?
Perhaps a mix of both? Darius would have to research more on it either through books or when he got to a larger place of civilization.
Whatever the case, he found his eyes drooping the more he thought. Today, he had battled a Blue Troll and come out on top, climbing a whopping 8 levels in one go.
The power boost it had given him was not a joke, but it had also tired him out and made him feel strange in his empowered body. Darius's last thoughts before he fell asleep were of the Conversion Points he would be receiving tomorrow and how to best allocate them.
After all, tomorrow was the day he would have to choose a new spell to add to his repertoire.

The Forbidden Class
Hatred. Lust. Power. There are many reasons why the Forbidden Classes are chosen. For Katai, a young village Guard, the reason was simple. Vengeance. Schedule I’ve not been able to write for quite some time now, so while I’m getting back into things the schedule will be nonexistent. Story details LitRPG - expect classes and skills and magic. Not a lot of stats/number-crunching though. There is slavery featured in this story, which a lot of people have been upset about. So here’s your fair warning. Skill levels and progression inspired by Azarinth Healer. Let me know what you think, and feel free to give me some constructive criticism. Please be nice about it though!

The Foretold: Sun Child (Complete)
As a sixteen year old commoner, your future is bleak. Worse, your appearance sets you apart from others. Your only achievement so far, is befriending the second son of the Lord of the Keep. He has been your only friend for eleven years, initially partner in mischief and later your hunting companion and confidant. Now your friendship is being torn asunder, he has turned eighteen and is being sent away to become a Judge Knight Aspirant. What is to become of you? Before your friend leaves, there is murder and conspiracy! Magic left the land hundreds of years ago, all you have is your bow and hunting skills, nevertheless you must fight to survive and save another to have any hope of a future! Note: The graphic isn't mine; it is a re-imagining of a few separate images, any objections by original artists let me know. N.B. If you are looking for Sexual Content every chapter, or every second, third or fourth chapter this isn't the story for you - the Sexual Content is required for a plot device, not a way of life and the later chapters reflect that - please stop dropping Low Ratings when you feel I haven't met your idea of "fan service". This is finished as much as a multi book vision can be finished. At 750,000 words give or take and very little readership I can only blame myself. I have learnt a lot, possibly forgotten a lot as well! I will probably return to the Chapters at some point - a touch up here and a touch up there. The second book though will probably remain in my head for a very long time, so yes "cliffs" although I hope the characters and their motivations are developed enough that you can have a good guess at the content of Book Two and tell me so I can confirm or deny! This isn't a LITRPG where classes are developed, great foes are defeated by a hero of immense power. This is a story based within (I hope) a very real and consistent culture, that leaves breadcrumbs for the reader to work out what the heck is happening and why. This is a slow burn story as the MC is stumbling around discovering her new place and role. Author's Note (Apr 2021): I dropped the Fantasy Genre for the Mystery Genre, because while the setting mentions magic, is it about past glories and trying to return to them. Whereas the MC from Chapter One doesn't understand her predicament and the range of mysteries she must solve to survive. If I have this wrong PM me and I will change this back.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
