《Jack》Chapter 2.5: From Jenny’s Perspective

Jenny woke to the sound of her phone ringing.
“Who the hell?”
She lazily rolled over to her nightstand, clumsily pushing aside a small pile of magazines to reach her phone. Some of the magazines fell on the floor and Jenny cursed hunter her breath as her fingers find the smooth surface of her phone. She held it up, squinting to see the name on the bright screen as she brings it close to her face. Her eyes widen as she reads the name Jack and sees a picture of the familiar face.
“Jack? I wonder what’s wrong.”
Though she said that, she couldn’t keep her heart from skipping a beat at the thought of him calling her. Jack was not a social person, and would normally never talk on the phone unless someone called him, and even then he would usually let it ring out before sending a text. She quickly answered the phone.
“Hello?”
She mentally beat herself up for not starting off with something snappy to grab his attention.
[Hey, Jenny, it’s Jack.]
So blunt. Rather than conversation, it felt like he was informing her of his name, but she knew he wasn’t intentionally being rude, this is just how he is. Jenny loved that about him. He once asked her out in the ninth grade, and his exact words were, “Go out with me”. She was shocked, and even thought he was joking, so she replied, “Sorry, but we’re just friends”. She later found out he was serious. Ever since then, she began to see him differently. Less as a friend and more as a “significant other”, and started to take a legitimate interest in his love life, meaning she made sure that she was the only girl in his life.
“Hey, Jack! What’s up? Girlfriend lock you out or something?”

[Jenny, you know I don’t have a girlfriend.]
‘Yeah.’
She thought to herself.
‘It’s still good to hear though.’
She laid back on her pillow and stared at the ceiling. She loved this part.
“Yeah... why is that? Your not still after little old me are you? I mean, if you save yourself for me, then you will be a virgin until your sixty.”
There was a slight pause.
[Why until I’m sixty?]
Checkmate. Time to give him a little hope.
“You know I prefer older men. I also prefer to be on top.”
Now that she thinks about it, he may not picture them together when their old, but her with some other old man. Damn. He’s really dense. It’s like trying to mold steel with a lighter.
[Listen, Jenny, if possible, could you give me a ride back to my apartment? I’m having some... uh... let’s just say some car troubles.]
It was a request. It is hard to write everything that was going through Jenny’s mind at this moment, but this is the gist:
‘Omagodwhatamigonnado? Ireallywannaseehimbuthewillbesuspiciousifidonthaveanexcuse! Whatkindofexcusecouldiuseforbeingoutinthemiddleofthenight? Ah... got it.’
She had come up with the perfect excuse, she was out getting a midnight snack. It would explain why it wouldn’t be troublesome to pick him up, and she could guilt him into buying her a meal and having a mini-date.
“You are in luck my friend, I just happen to be getting a midnight snack. Where are you?”
[Thanks Jenny, your a life saver. I’m at the Jamestown park, I’ll meet you at the south entrance.]
‘Heh, of course he bought it.’
“Be there in ten.”
[Thanks again.]
Then he hung up.
Jenny rolled out of bed, no traces of exhaustion in her figure as she walked quickly over to the light switch and flicked it on. Her room was nothing special to the untrained eye, it was relatively clean, with a few odds and ends scattered here and there. In fact there are only two people in the world who would notice something off about this room, one was herself, and the other was Jack. The reason is because her room is a near-exact replica of Jack’s room.

Jenny glanced around her room as if it were a masterpiece.
“Time to get ready for my date!”
After fifteen minutes of straightening her hair, choosing an outfit, applying makeup, and a couple of other things, she rushed out the door and began her ten minute drive to Jack, calming her nerves the entire drive there while quietly whispering calming words to herself. Her stress disappeared the instant her eyes fell on his face, one that seemed very in control, and had often calmed her nerves in the past.
He approached the car, and she honked the horn when he was closest to the hood, and getting a pretty good reaction. Well, a good reaction for him. He walked over to the door, and she quickly reached over, while pulling the handle and flinging the door into him. He bent over in pain while holding on the door.
‘Oops, I hope I didn’t damage anything important.’
While she was slightly regretting her actions, Jack looked up at her.
“Thanks.”
She blushed slightly when he thanked her, and hoped he didn’t notice while she tried to distract him.
“Masochist.”
He chuckled.
“I meant for the ride.”
She was relieved when he didn’t notice her embarrassment and relaxed her grip on the steering wheel slightly.
“Sure you did. The ride’s no problem, but the rest is gonna cost you.”
“Cost me what?”
Jack sat next to her and closed the door, and with that there date has started.
“A burrito and a soda.”
She was already planning her date with Jack and how it would play into their life together. He nodded in agreement.
‘Hehehe. You may not know it yet, but your already mine.’

Necromancers are murderous, repulsive, utterly ungodly creatures. And then there's Jerry. Jerry is a novice necromancer who treats his undead warmly, seeks to befriend people instead of harvest their bodies, and doesn't mind cracking a skull or two when needed. He genuinely is a good guy—too bad nobody believes him. Trying to discover his place in the world, Jerry will live great adventures. He will make friends, each unique in their own way, and together, they will travel through a variety of striking environments; from a tiny village, to the land of the dead, to a jolly archipelago, to a kingdom on a beanstalk. To save a world that shuns him, Jerry must stand against a large organization of arrogant, mighty wizards. He strives to become stronger while maintaining his kindness, only to realize that, maybe, gentle hearts make the greatest necromancers. This is the story of a delightful man in a harsh world—full of warmth, action, and wise-cracking bone puns. Chapters are usually 2-3k words, and updates are 3/week: Mon, Wed, Fri.
