《Happy Ending》Chapter 34: There are priorities in friendship

They heard it all. Not a missing piece of information was lost for what happened behind the door. Since the both of them stopped talking, Chris and David were looking at each other in shock. They knew this wasn’t the first time Max confessed to or was rejected by someone. Their friend would be sad for the whole day but in the next morning, he returns to be the same old Max. Although, for this time… they didn’t know what would become of him.
It was brutal. This wasn’t a rejection; rather, it was a punch in the face so hard that even them who didn’t watch it in person could feel the pain. Was his mistake? Yes. Was he too rash to confess? Absolutely. Would he succeed in getting into a relationship? Maybe, if he was lucky. The two of them knew about how wrong he was but even then they couldn’t stop feeling pity for their friend in the other side of the door.
Suddenly, it was open. The door between the living room and the kitchen opened to the living, making Chris and David move out their listening positions, and the one who opened was the remains of what was called their friend.
-Max! – They both shouted to the boy who appeared to be a shell of his former self.
He walked slowly towards them and his whole body trembling each time his feet touched the ground. Max couldn’t muster enough strength to walk anymore, but it was enough to escape the zone of his utter defeat. The boy ended up falling down almost reaching his friends. Lucky, he was caught by David before touching the ground.
-Max! Max, you OK? – David was trying to find any sort of reaction from Max, but there was no response. The boy’s eyes didn’t reflect light and had the impression of being colored white from the shock.

Their thought after seen Max in this pitiful state was the same: he was dead… If it weren’t for the sound of his briefs breathings, this could very well be the case. But, they still didn’t realize. While Chris and David were focused on Max, they failed to notice the one who caused this exit the kitchen.
Only when the sound of her sandals hitting the wooden floor was heard, they turned their faces away from Max. They saw her walking towards them, closing the distance with slow and graceful steps, but the cold expression the girl bore made them think it was an executioner coming to deliver the death blow. And this was something David couldn’t allow.
Even if this is for Max to pay for his mistakes, it was too much. He needed to act. He gently put his friend in the ground and stood up to face Midna. As he waited for her to come closer, the tall boy already had his lecture ready.
-Stop right there, missy. – Putting his open hand forward, he told her. – I will not allow you continue this any further.
It was necessary to be strict in this situations. If she continued like this, who knew what could happen in the future? Maybe that was the way they normally did in her home country, but she wasn’t in her home anymore. Either way, she hurt his friend beyond necessary, so there was no way David would let her slide without a warning.
-He had enough, so you should just-
-Who the heck you think you are!? – Without allowing David continue his sentence, Midna shouted.
The sudden interruption made David flinch. They were sure introduced before, so she knew this, and the one who made the blunder was Max, so why is she mad at him?

-E,E,Excuse me?
-Coming here, without a warning, barging in like you were the owner of the place… I’m tired of the lots of you! – Before they knew, she came very close to David and poked him with her finger, pushing him away.
-… What?
She kept pushing him back using only one finger, and it wasn’t like David was letting her do as she pleased. When he realized what she was doing, he stood still. He, who was invited by many sports clubs because of his physique, was resisting her, but even then it wasn’t enough to prevent her from pushing him.
-I’m tired of this… I’m so sick of this! We were just trying to have a peaceful evening but you guys had to ruin it! Well, this is what I think of you lot! Be gone!
Putting both of her hands on the boy, Midna pushed David down and, while the boy was trying to understand the situation, she grabbed the back of his shirt’s collar and dragged him away from the living room. Opening the front door, the boy was thrown in the front yard like he was trash.
How could such a frail body of that girl do this to him? He heard about things like this in comedies, but in real life, this was just preposterous. Flushed and confused, David looked back just to be greeted with an object being thrown at him. When he saw what that was, he was shocked to find out it was Max.
-This is my final warning before I am really angry! – The girl announced to the two guys on the ground.
Shifting his attention to her, David could only fear what her next words would be. Midna was standing at the door while looking down at them with an angry look in her eyes like a predator warning others animals to stay away from his lair.
-Take your damn things, turn around and never come back here! – With that said, she threw them their bags. – Or else I will take care of all you… personality.
A threat but not an empty one. He could feel it. There was something weird about this girl, but he wouldn’t be around to find out what it was.
-Ok! – Putting Max on his shoulder and grabbing the two bags, David stood up - Chris, glad to know you are recovering fine! See ya in school! Bye! – Shouting loud enough for his friend in the house to hear it, the boy ran away never looking back.
Watching the back of that person become smaller and smaller, Midna felt herself become more light. She couldn’t understand it, but it was a good feeling as if all her problems were gone and she finally became relaxed.
Still, there was one more thing to do. She looked back, knowing that Chris was watching her and the events at the entrance. With the most innocent smile, she said to him in a cheerful tone:
-I don’t want to be your… cousin… anymore.
And then, the door was closed.
Later on, Chris would notice that he forgot to pick up the homework with his friends.

8 137AS LONG AS IT'S INTERESTING, ISN'T IT FINE TO LIVE AS A DUNGEON? (Hiatus)
[This story is now in Hiatus and I dont know if I'll come back to work on it again.] The story of a girl with a flare for creating a show that’s willing to let a lot of things slide so long as it’s interesting. She is summoned as the core of a newly birthed dungeon. With the power to create and destroy, what poor thing will her curiosity draw her to next? What interesting things will she show us? Note: This is just something I'm doing in between doing things. Please expect shoddy quality, a poor updating schedule, and significant rewrites. Thanks.
8 224The Economics of Emotion
Walking an empty life, he was granted a new start within a story of his own making. Instead of being able to walk the life of a mc he was designated the role of a side villain, an intentional loose end as there was no real “role” outside of being the villain. Unneeded and unwanted in this story but granted a new lease on life he decided to take up the role of the lead villain and to rest control of his story back into his own hands! --------- Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge November 2021!

8 93Verdant Heart Seed - A Reverend Insanity fan-fiction
Back in the Late Antiquity Era, the protagonist meets his untimely demise. But Heaven and Earth always leaves a way out, his new cultivation journey begins anew on the path of reclaiming his former strength and defying Fate.---This is a story about a native cultivator of the Gu world. He lived in the era of/before Spectral Soul Demon Venerable (two venerable eras before the main RI plot). He suffered the rise of the demon venerable, barely able to make his arrangements before his death. He manages to rebirth, but doesn't everything go as planned. The story starts off in an isolated small word (grotto heaven), until the MC can grow and reclaim his former glory, before surpassing it. (long way, he was already rank 8 before) The MC has a pragmatic worldview, aligned with what you would expect from someone living hundreds of years in that kind of hostile environment. He doesn't shy away from immoral acts if it benefits him. The MC bears close resemblance to Fang Yuan in this regard, but his goal is not eternal life. One of my aims was to showcase the later introduced cultivation rules into the mortal cultivation (dao marks, attainment etc.) and explore novel scenarios within this highly technical cultivation environment.
