《Happy Ending》Chapter 25: Thoughts to escape this situation!

The boy thought of the situation.
His two friends came to his house to deliver homework because he was injured. Inside his house, there was only him alone with a girl. Furthermore, the girl was a video-game character with the role of a serial killer. Lucky, she was on the second floor at the moment.
Given the facts, there were some possible outcomes for the situation:
1 - He can be quick and just take the homework to get rid of his friends from entering the house.
-Hey guys, thanks for coming, but tho, I'm sorry that I can't let you guys in. I'm trying to relax right now so I kind wish to be alone right now.
This was the answer he would say to make them leave, and it would work with it was only Max that came by but the problem lies in the big guy at his side.
-Sure man, we understand. We will let you rest while your mother treats you. Your mother is taking care of you, right?
David was always a worrywart. Contrary to how he looked, he never played risk and liked to know every odds before his decisions. There was one time he was so scared of a test he studied all the contents because he didn't know what would be on it. At the end of the day, nothing he studied matter because it was from another subject.
If he knew his mother wasn't there with him, he would probably say this:
-Chris, if you suddenly get worse and there was no one around at that time, what would happen to you? We will not let that happen. We staying until your mother comes by.
Of course, Chris could lie on the spot and just say his mother was there, but there was another problem with that!
-If she is with you, then why didn't she answered the door? Didn't you say you were resting? Chris, is your mother really there with you?
Of course, David would respond with something like that. In his mind, Chris' mother wouldn't allow him to get up while he was resting because of an injury. If only they didn't know each other for so long, the boy would go with this option without having second thoughts.
But no matter how much he tried to think of a solution, this option would lead with them staying at his house and they would meet the girl and he would need to explain things he didn't know how to say.
2 - Let them in and play around with the girl.

If Chris did that, he wouldn't need to worry about his friends at all. It would be just another day they would be in his house to stay. Nothing uncommon about it and it wouldn't raise any suspicion.
-Oh, it's you guys. Please, come in. My mom is out right now because of some stuff that happened in the clinic but she will be back later. Feel free to stay as long that you guys want.
They would come inside and probably would be on the first floor, more precisely in the living room and sometimes at the kitchen, leaving the second floor free for Chris to hide the girl.
There are three bathrooms in his house. One on the first floor and two on the second. The first only has a toilet and a sink, while one on the second have a bathtub they usually use and the other one is exclusive to his mother's room.
With that information, Chris could say this:
-Guys, I hope you don't mind, but I was about to take a bath and the water is already hot. Would you excuse me for it?
He would wait a bit and talk with them before saying it, making this option flawless until this point. His friends would have two options considering that question: either they would leave after a while or would wait for him to get out of bath then leave. No mistakes nor interventions from his friends.
But the problem was in the next phase of his plan. He managed to go and stay on the second floor for the time he wanted to but what would Chris say to the girl?
His friends arrived but you can't meet them so hide until they leave? No, that would be too direct. He needed to be more subtle.
-Pumpkin, could you wait in my mother's room for a while? We got a mouse problem and I'm going to solve it.
A nice excuse for her to stay in one place. By using a mouse in the house, he could make her wait until his friends leave the house and later come back to say he already solve it, ending his plan with perfection! But, there is a problem in his logic.
-Mouse? If that is the problem, let me do it! I will kill it before you notice it!
He could easily imagine her saying that while holding a knife. He wasn't dealing with a normal person but a game character with a serial killer role in the story. Of course, she wouldn't be still while he was looking for a mouse.

He could also try to persuade her but it would lead to his defeat by her saying that she needs to help him since his mother said so. The mouse idea wouldn't work, the boy needed to think of another excuse.
(Think about it...think about it...think about it!)
The girl is in his mother room. What is she doing? Dressing up. A girl is dressing up in his mother's room. Would she take too much time? A lot of time. A girl is taking a long time to dress up in his mother's room. Time, she is taking too much time dressing up. She is wasting time dressing up!
(That's it!)
If she was taking too much time dressing up, then make her continue to dress up. Like that, she would be in his mother's room without anybody going there because that would be rude for his friends to do! But how to make her stay dressing up?
There was a way. Chris saw it many times. When he was going to the clothe's store together with his mother to buy new pieces for her, there were times when he saw some couples together there. The boy would be waiting for his girlfriend to dress and then she would show him how she looked. Those boys would say something like "It's perfect." or "It really suits you!" just to flatter their girl but the real reason was to get out of there. And the girls would just say "Yeah, I also think so, but let me try another one.", repeating the circle until she was satisfied.
If perhaps Chris went to her and said he wanted to see how she looked in different clothes than all he needed to do afterward was to wash his hair and just say he took a bath! A perfect plan!
...If only he could do that!
He was asking for a girl to change just for him to see. It wasn't like the girlfriends asking their boyfriends for how the clothes looked on them but just a boy asking a girl he had no relation until yesterday to change just for his curiosity! How would he say that to her?
-Hey, Pumpkin, I think you would look fine in that other one. Could you change for me?
It was too direct! There was no way he would be able to say it with a straight face! His face would be red as a tomato before he even reached the middle of the sentence! The boy needed to find another way or all would crumble down!
But time wasn't an ally for him!
While he was lost in his thoughts, the boy's friends were getting suspicious about his long silence. Since he started to think only passed about ten seconds in the real world, but it wasn't enough for him to finish his simulations!
All he had were two ways of dealing with this and one would lead to his defeat while the other would make him bury his head in the ground. But, wanting or not, he wasn't doing this for him. There was even a bigger problem for him that he needed to solve in this week time, and if his friends were to discover, it would turn into a bigger problem for him to solve.
(There is no choice!)
He has chosen the path. It wasn't one he would be proud of but it would be the one that would make him reach the upper hand of the situation, without imagining the shame he would pass.
-Oh, it's you guys. Please, come in. My mom is out right now because-
It was a perfect plan.
-Chriiss...
The boy could even feel the happiness of winning the situation.
-...where are you?
There was no way anything would ruin it.
-Ah, found you!
He was so sure of it.
-I wanted to ask your opinion on something.
There was no way, he thought, everything was predicted, he thought. So, even then, why is it...just why is it...just how is it...
-You think this clothes suit me?
The boy didn't want to look back, but his head was already turning around. She was supposed to be changing clothes upstairs. She was supposed to take more time. She needed to be there!
But there was no mistake with his eyes. The girl was there, a couple steps back of his back, showing a one-piece dress with a mini skirt for him while eagerly waiting for his reply. Based on his surprised face, the girl thought it was a success but still waited to hear from him.
At the entrance, there was no way for the boy to return his sigh. They saw her, he was sure. His tall friend would be confused and was looking at the boy and the girl alternating between them to try to figure out the situation while his glassed friend would be so shocked that couldn't even think of nothing. And at his front, the girl that innocently didn't know what was happening.

8 175Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
