《ARC》Book 1 Chapter 50 Land Of The Giants

Noah regained his grip as he quickly climbed through the ceiling's shrinking hole to make it above deck. Noah leapt from the stone spike to hit the deck heavily as he rolled to a stop at the straining Roger's feet. Noah didn't hesitate to unsteadily push himself to his feet as the effort of his climb combined with adrenaline caused his weakened body to waver under his exhaustion.
Noah reached into his sweat-soaked pocket to retrieve the ration Uncle Joey had supplied him with to press them into Roger's hands. Understanding appeared in Roger's eyes as he hurriedly placed a grade two ration inside his mouth. Roger's blue-lifeforce's faltering light renewed its vigour as the winds once again picked up in force to resume lifting the fishing trawler from the stone spike accompanied by cheers.
The oarsmen and guards had remained frozen with helplessness while the ability-users had united to combat the threat of the giant snake, including Noah. He currently had only half the strength of even a grade one blank user. Ability-users all have exceptional willpower in the face of life-threatening danger. Those without any ability tend to be the ones who cower and hide. Losing the capacity to think of a solution.
The python was less than one hundred meters away when the fishing trawler came crashing back into the water cushioned by Roger's [Air Manipulation] ability to prevent further damage to the hull. The boat's bow dipped under the ocean as the majority of oarsmen were washed across the deck, a few were lost overboard with screams filled with terror as they floundered to grab a hold on the rail.
Green-lifeforce once again appeared on the exposed metal as the propellers screamed back to life after the boss finished patching the hull. Roger cursed the oarsmen who were washed overboard. Noah remained securely onboard when he had been luckily washed into a corner of the metal railing sprawled onto his side, splutteringly coughing up saltwater, entirely drenched in water.

Roger gripped the rails as he was torn between rescuing the men overboard or escaping the approaching colossal python that had arrived at the first of the unfortunate men. Roger cursed as he realized that it was too late to save them. The fishing trawler may not escape being consumed themselves as the colossal serpent opened its maw, large enough to swallow the dilapidated boat whole.
Wind once again filled the patchwork sails as blue lifeforce gathered under Roger's skin and green lifeforce filled the fishing trawler to supply the propeller with energy. Roger let out a heavy sigh as he turned away from the pleading men lost overboard as he returned his focus to escaping.
As the distance between the fishing trawler and the colossal world-eating serpent Jormungand grew, echoing screams belonging to the men overboard were heard as they entered the snake's mouth. The hissing roar was once again heard as the colossal snake halted its pursuit upon nearing the twin island as it spoke to something inhabiting the volcano it was wary of.
『They belong to me!』 Jormungand roared.
『This is my territory, enter if you wish to break our truce』A mysterious voice responded from within the dormant volcano.
『You were victorious the last time we fought. But I have now grown strong enough to rival you!』Jormungand challenged with a hissing roar.
『Then let us determine the victor!』 an answering roar accepted the challenge.
The dormant volcano became active as magma began to shoot into the sky as the colossal snake abandoned its pursuit and turned its attention away from the fleeing fishing trawler to change direction towards the second island containing the now active volcano.
Noah watched in disbelief as what crawled from the volcano was what appeared to be a car-sized armadillo, bearing swirling patterns on its shell glowing-orange. Magma dropped from its carapace, cooling to stone on the ground behind it. The armadillo stood upright as its form mutated into a humanoid shape similar in appearance to an armoured knight covered in the decorative orange glowing patterns that drew the eye. The humanoid armadillo summoned magma from the earth to cloak itself.

The humanoid armadillo leapt into the sky as magma poured upwards in a geyser, forming a giant made of lava. The magma giant unleashed a roar as it clashed with the colossal serpent Jormungand. Noah's view of the battle was obscured by smoke and ash until all he could see was the glow of magma accompanied by the light of abilities being activated.
The islands disappeared behind them as the sky darkened until they could only see the occasional flash of light from the titans struggle. The sounds of battle faded away until all that could be heard was solemn silence from the men aboard and the hum of the propeller's churning. A hissing roar of victory was heard in the distance as the titans concluded their contest.
Only once the fishing trawler completely lost sight of the islands behind them did everyone finally relax their guard. A total of five oarsmen had been lost overboard in the wave when they had crashed back into the water.
Noah stood at the edge of the man-sized hole in the deck, looking down at water gathering inside the hull. Blood ran unnoticed down his fingers from his slashed palm to drip into a pool at his feet. As the pool of blood spread closer to the edge of the void. It began to trickle into the opening, causing a reaction in the water below.
Fish were trapped inside the hull in the rising water. They were excited into a frenzy as they attempted to leap at the blood falling. Noah could see them clearly from where he was standing on the deck above. The fish resembled nothing Noah had even heard of before. They seemed more fearsome than even the fish found in the deep ocean.
"Haiyah! Boss, we got devil-fish on board!" Uncle Joey cursed as he arrived at the hole beside the boss below Noah.
The boss looked up at Noah as Uncle Joey pulled his apron over his head as he stormed towards the kitchen. Returning a short while later with his sleeves rolled up, holding a long gaff pole.
"Devil-fish meat rotten. Eating will make you cursed. So disgusting. Haiyah!"
Uncle Joey let out a string of curses in his native language. Noah didn't understand a word as Uncle Joey began to hook the nightmarish fish with the gaff, pulling them out individually. They attempted to bite him as he removed them from the water.
Uncle Joey was unconcerned as he pinned the devil fish beside himself with the gaff, grabbing his meat cleaver from where it rested on the floor with his free hand. He then brought it chopping down with practised ease to sever the devil-fish's head. Uncle Joey placed his cleaver down to retrieve the grade one black origin crystal to pass to the boss waiting patiently beside him after cleaning it on his apron.
Uncle Joey quickly unhooked the devil fish before carelessly discarding its carcass behind him. He returned to fishing devil-fish trapped inside the hull below, accompanied by loud foreign cursing. Noah was interrupted from watching at the opening by the boy who cautiously approached him.

Hope
There were 2 options: Fight the same war for countless more aeons. Shatter the Betrayer's undead legions time and time again until all was ground to dust. Because the endless legions truly never end. A hair's breath of ground in a century is enough if the war takes all of eternity. Or to choose Hope. To cast away his memories, his power, his very life. To wager everything on a chance to prevent their eventual end or to perish trying. Because if he were to return it would be with the power necessary to finally slay what remains of the Betrayer. Of the last Aspect. Only then would all things be right. And so, he chose the latter. Expect:Weak to strong quick-ish.Powerful MC reincarnates, gradually starts regaining memories.MC that is an actual character not a plot device. My original unique magic system discovered along with the MC.My original setting with mythos that have both been living rent free in my head for actual years.Opening arc will be less fast than the following story. Good writing (I think) and grammar. Upload schedulle: 2 chapters a week of 3-4k words each. I want to upscale to 3 in the future. Meant to be read in RR dark mode. For those coming here from my other stories, this is indeed a reimagining of my older story, CotM. I say reimagining because I have changed so much it cannot be called just a rewrite. Among the major changes, MC is fundamentally different in personality and background, I have actually planned the story out and changed it almost completely and I have adjusted my mythos so it no longer has as many holes as swiss cheese.
