《Heir of the Divine Phoenix》15. Aurora Academy [2]

Feuer speed was something that even if someone could cultivate and use magic at the same time, they wouldn't be able to have his speed, of course, considering they're at the same realm and sub realm as him, usually, only someone on High Martial Body and someone with Lightning or Light element at High Spiritual Manifestation would have that speed.
Lightning and Light elements, when used properly, can give an incredible speed boost, even using the magic known as [Acceleration] would give a speed boost, not to the same extent as Lightning and Light elements, though.
The Light element is an extremely versatile one because it can help with hiding when it isn't night, heal and improve someone speed or attack, however, it depends on someone understanding and control over it, Feuer made sure to learn how to improve his speed and attack with the Light element.
Feuer learned three magics named [Light Pistol], [Light Beam] and [Light Acceleration] respectively, the first one it's actually simple, he simply do a pistol gesture with his hands and through the tip of his finger, he shoot a line made of Light element with a high amount of speed.
The second one is [Light Beam] he made this one based on a famous superhero of his previous life that used an armor, through the center of his palms, he condenses a sphere made of Light element and shoot it, he can also use a version of it with Fire element, both of them can also help him fly, of course, given that he has enough mana.
Last but not least, [Light Acceleration] is based on the simple magic named [Acceleration], just, he imbued it with Light element thus improving the speed of it, this is just three of the many magics he learned, having many cards on his deck is always good.

With each step that Feuer did, a small beam of light would appear behind his feet, this is the application of the combined [Light Beam] and [Light Acceleration], firstly he condenses Light element on his feet and make small spheres under it and then, uses it to propel himself forward.
It didn't take much time before Feuer arrived on his home, the first thing he did was to greet his father, he missed him after a month on that cave, living on that cave was, however, a good thing as he was forced to obtain food and safety by himself on the Forest, that also helped to increase his battle experience.
As soon as he entered the room, a figure appeared in front of him and punched, his instincts kicked in time but he couldn't dodge, Feuer reaction was enough but his body wasn't as he was sent flying for a few meters, then, the figure appeared once again in front of him but this time, the figure hugged him and said ''I missed you, my son!''
Feuer mumbled in annoyance ''I noticed how much you missed me by your punch, damn..'' but then, the figure which is obviously his father, raised his fist again as Feuer quickly said ''Oh, father, I missed you too, I thought I was going to die for missing you, ah, I never thought it was so sad to be far from you!''
''Brat, you're just as shameless as I'm, hahaha! I also missed you, why don't you show me your progress? I expect you to have advanced to High Spiritual Awakening, right? You probably inherited your mother's talent, hn!'' Heinz nodded and said, he knew how talented his wife was by the stories she told to him.
The dark golden-colored teenager put his head down as he said with a sad tone ''Father, I'm sorry to disappoint you... unfortunately I wasn't able to advance to High Spiritual Awakening,...''

Heinz didn't felt disappointed but went to comfort his son, before he could do so, Feuer raised his head smiling widely ''I advanced to Peak Spiritual Awakening, hahaha, gotcha!''
''Oh... I see that you also inherited your mother teasing abilities, huh?'' Heinz said and raised his fist, all Feuer could do was yell ''F*ck!'' before being sent flying for a few meters away and then, standing up with a big bump on his head.
Before Feuer could complain, Heinz said as his expression changed, completely serious ''...I have something to talk with you, son.''
Tilting his head to the side slightly, Feuer simply stood by while waiting for what his father has to say ''You're just like Ayao, even that habit of tilting the head to the side when you're confused, sigh... My son, you know how alone we felt after losing your mother, right...?''
Feuer expression solidified, he understood what his father meant, he was, after all, a loner on his previous life, some times, all he wanted was someone that could be his companion for his entire life, alas, he was always an introvert.
''From your expression, you understand what I mean, hn... My son, I know that someday, given your talent, it won't take much time, maybe less than a year before you leave the Kingdom to become an adventurer, so... I felt that I needed to move on and experience love again!'' Heinz said, he felt that hiding this from his son was unfair, he already hid from his son due to his guilt for many years, he doesn't want that to happen again.
Smiling slightly, Feuer shook his head ''Father, you don't need to do such drama, though I would take some time to adapt, I know that you would feel lonely when I leave the Kingdom, anyways, I always wanted a younger brother or sister, work hard, young man!'' he said while joking at the last part, before his father could react as he entered deep thought, Feuer vanished as a ray of Light was all left by him.
Heinz stood by and thought about what his son said before tearing up and saying ''To think that my son is such an understandable person, I'm so proud!'' it seems that in the end, Heinz is just a softie that loves his son more than anything in the world.

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!

I stood above a pond, the water as black and deep as the abyss. I started walking but with each step, the water rose, or was it me that drowned? I could only walk forward as the water consumed me. Knees, waist, chest, neck, eyes, and finally, I was fully submerged. It was too late to turn back. Was it all worth it? ----------------------- If there is a "*" after the chapter it is re-written. I do not own the cover and was not able to find the artist, if it needs to be taken down please PM (private message). Source: Pinterest
