When Linus arrived at the battle coliseum, he entered a massive coliseum building which completely changed upon entry, which amazed him. Although he had already read about the coliseum's uniqueness he was still shocked. The battle coliseum was a very special building central to the Global Federation due to its usefulness and significance.

This was the first application of the currently existing digital world as it was used in the past to allow duelling between pet trainers without injuring their pets together with allowing people to safely watch and experience duels between pet trainers. The battle coliseum has undergone many revisions and expansions until it has become its current form.

The outside looks like a historical arena, but the inside is another virtual space where people interact before choosing to watch a certain match or initiate a duel. Upon entry, a person will be sent to a certain hub which will become their main hub until they become higher-ranking pet trainers.

At those hubs, they can interact with other pet trainers, challenge them, choose a venue to watch a duel live or ask for help from a virtual assistant. Linus is currently in the iron #3762 hub which is filled with more than a hundred enthusiastic apprentice pet trainers of which most are either his peers or common people of age.

He was overwhelmed by everything that was happening but swiftly recovered before people started noticing. His first stop was the virtual assistant who could help him become used to the battle coliseum. When he asked for an assistant, one swiftly became available and he started questioning the assistant about how to select which duel to view, challenge a specific person and initiate the consecutive duel challenge together with its rules.

He learned that to view a specific duel, he had to know the duel arena in which the duel took place to witness the specific duel. Aside from that, the coliseum also provides 100 public arena's in which the most exciting duels in the entire battle coliseum can join or the top 10 exciting duels in a person's hub.

Duelling someone requires initiating a challenge, they have to accept before the duel can start aside from this the two duelists will also be required to be of the same rank to make a duel official. All official duels will be added to a pet trainer's portfolio which will allow a pet trainer to be ranked in their hub and the battle coliseum.

Those ranked first in their hub will be given a reward upon accomplishing it the first time while ranking within the top 10000 of the entire battle coliseum will also be rewarded within the apprentice rank. Top 1000 for bronze until gold, top 100 for platinum until diamond and top 10 for masters and above while each first rank will be rewarded if they can hold on for longer than a week with a unique reward from the Pet trainer association.

Linus's goal however is the consecutive duel challenge which will grant money for every ten consecutive wins or a hundred times that for a consecutive hundred victories. Most people who are capable of the latter will achieve either the first or top ten ranking within their respective power rank.

After any duel, the trainers and pets will be restored as if they hadn't fought in the first place allowing for successive battles without delay if wished so. After Linus learned everything he wanted to know, he first checked the 100 public duels going on and the top 10 within his hub.

He first entered a particularly exciting duel of the gold rank between two top hundred pet trainers. Linus had started spectating when the duel was already on its way. The lower-ranking pet trainer had four peak gold rank pets of the fire element and a fire domain which enhances fire elemental skills.

The higher ranking pet trainer too had four peak gold rank pets, but they were all undead type pets who belong to the death element while the trainer has a fusion ability allowing himself to fuse with two undead pets.

Currently, the undead pet trainer was fused with a necromancer and a death knight granting him the defence and strength of the knight together with the ability to control death energy to use necromancy skills which he used to enhance his other two pets which were two bone centipedes which circled and attacked the four fire pets aggressively.

The fire pet trainer defended against the two bone centipedes which had been enhanced by having his pets form shields of fire while retreating behind them. While defending he used the free space and time to have his pets work together to form a complex fire attack which was launched at the undead pet trainers behind the bone centipedes as he was the most dangerous opponent.

The undead pet trainer, however, anticipated the attack and had his bone centipedes intervene with their bodies before using a bone shield to defend against the shock wave and death energy to start healing the two bone centipedes. After the attack had disappeared, the two bone centipedes were almost completely healed and started attacking again.

This time, the undead pet trainer also joined in and used a bone sabre to slash with immense strength while using death energy to enhance the sabre and attack which resulted in the fire defences crumbling and successfully injuring the fire element pets.

The undead pet trainer exploited this opportunity and he and his pets savagely attacked resulting in the kill of the fire pet trainer before the fire pets could intervene ending the match prematurely and splendidly. The winner was then announced to be the undead pet trainer, a 22-year-old Mason Riverton.

Linus was fascinated and excited by the duel and the power of both pet trainers who were only of gold rank which though rare isn't close to the power of master rank or higher but already allows pets to destroy big areas. Linus clenched his fists due to excitement and was reminded to give his everything to help Nyx evolve.

Linus then went to watch another duel but this time it was a match from his hub between an above million ranked pet trainer and a 987 666 ranked pet trainer. The match hadn't been exciting for Linus but very informative as Linus learned that their power wasn't anything to snuff at as the one ranked in the top 1 million was already stronger than Linus while his ranking was higher than expected as more than a billion apprentice pet trainers were ranked in the pet coliseum, thus this trainer belonged to the upper 0.1 % among the apprentices.

The higher-ranking person had won again and was ranked number three within Linus's hub and was an earth element domain pet trainer who had a peak iron rank earth mole which was a gold rank race. This person was a peer to Linus and was also preparing for the National examination together with trying to breakthrough.

Linus and Nyx would never be capable of winning against the opponent due to their formidable defence and natural skill to dig through the earth. Its power and race were also well above that of Nyx and compared to his schoolmates, this youth had trained his pet to be combat proficient.

Linus had now become more aware of the battle coliseum's features and his current capability compared to others. He exited the duel arena and started what he had come for to test and gauge his strength. He initiated the consecutive duel challenge which transported him to a private duel arena where he had to wait for an opponent.

He released Nyx and started waiting, it didn't take more than two seconds before an opponent appeared who was ranked at the bottom of the rankings. The pet trainer was a middle-aged man who released an LVL 7 iron rank white fox which is an iron rank race of the phantasm element.

The man greeted Linus politely but didn't say anything else while Linus reciprocated before the duel started. When the duel began, the man had his white fox use its racial skill illusionary tail, but Nyx remained unaffected due to her willpower and the incomplete mind mirror skill. Nyx attacked using her signature combination of three skills which the white fox couldn't dodge or defend giving it many deep slashes and a lot of darkness energy which invaded the wounds.

The white fox froze from the pain and was incapacitated by the shock of the middle-aged man who didn't expect his pet to be so swiftly defeated by a dark rose, but Nyx didn't dally and killed both trainer and pet with her next match earning Linus his first victory.

Nyx then recovered he lost energy and a minute later another pet trainer and his pet appeared. This time a youth ranked higher than before reaching the top 1 billion and an LVL 8 iron rank pet of an iron rank race which was again defeated by Nyx within a few attacks as their skill mastery was too low together with their combat experience.

Linus and Nyx won six more battles easily until they reached the ninth match against a top 150 million ranked peak iron rank wood snake which was an iron rank race like the dark rose with no previously known evolution method.

When the duel started, Linus learned that it wouldn't go easy like before even though the pet race was weaker than some. The wood snake was already old, but due to the pet trainer's age and experience it had learned more than 10 external skills all mastered to either expert mastery with some having reached perfection like its racial wood camouflage. The two were also very experienced in combat against iron rank opponents.

Linus and Nyx fought with a lot of vigour and power resisting sneak attacks and wood element roots with the dark petal waves and having dealt some damage during the initial exchanges with charming petals disorienting effect which had it temporarily stunned.

This didn't work later anymore though and only superficial wounds had scratched the wood snake since then due to well-timed counterattacks against its assassination attempts. Nyx and Linus remained on the defensive against the elusive opponent while they couldn't attack the old man as the wood snake had used a special skill wooden cocoon which enveloped the pet trainer in a wooden cocoon structure that defended the pet trainer at the cost of immobilising them.

This did, however, work against Nyx's scattered dark petal attacks which couldn't damage the wooden cocoon while the wood snake didn't allow Nyx to condense her dark petals in a more concentrated bundle of petals. The duel continued for a long time, but Nyx eventually won and killed the wood snake after pretending exhaustion together with an accumulation of more shallow cuts on the wood snake which allowed darkness energy to invade the wood snake hindering its skill usage and body usage.

After Nyx was restored to full energy with Linus, they started waiting for their 10th opponent which will be a guardian which is quite a bit stronger than those he had faced previously. A minute later, a blonde youth with blue eyes appeared and he was ranked within the top 10 million which is mostly reached by those capable of winning 15 consecutive battles after multiple attempts.

The blonde youth was nicknamed 'ice prince#1234 'while his real name was censored which any battle coliseum pet trainer could do, Linus had done the same but his nickname was much more enigmatic than it hadn't been used before, his nickname is 'Mephisto' after a mythological demon from Earth.

The youth looked both in surprise and contempt at Linus and Nyx as he knew that Linus had won 9 consecutive times, but after seeing Nyx he determined that Linus had been lucky and didn't say anything as he had originally planned. The ice prince just summoned his peak iron rank ice wraith which is a special silver rank race with the racial skill ice howl that freezes the mind.

Linus was surprised by the rare ice wraith as his opponent and informed Nyx about its ice howl racial skill. When the duel began, the ice wraith used ice howl against Nyx but Nyx endured the cold with her willpower and wasn't stunned counterattacking with her combination while using stored life force on her head to help withstand the freeze on it.

The ice wraith didn't care about the wave of petals and tried to dodge them by immaterialising with an external skill it knew. It didn't work tough due to the attached and imbued darkness energy which allowed the ice wraith to be filled with cuts and invading darkness energy.

The ice wraith defended itself though under the ice prince's instructions by using ice elemental energy to freeze the invading darkness energy and its wounds, but the invading darkness energy was the pure pristine quality dark shadow energy which resisted the freezing resulting in only the wounds being frozen.

The ice prince was shocked but reacted quickly and started going on the offensive against Nyx with ice element attacks, but Linus and Nyx went fully defensive waiting for the darkness energy to weaken and maybe incapacitate the ice wraith. This strategy worked against the physical attacks, but both Linus and Nyx had to withstand the ice howl skill which attempted to freeze their minds.

Linus defended his mind with his contract space and the shadow kingdom which purged any invading coldness, Nyx wasn't as lucky and could only hold on due to the life force of the enhanced dark cells which converted her internal darkness energy after being exhausted a minute ago.

The battle continued for another five minutes before the ice wraith was incapacitated and exhausted allowing Nyx to kill both it and her trainer signifying Linus's victory for 10 consecutive battles. The two were then healed and the consecutive duel challenge then asked if Linus wanted to initiate the hundred consecutive victories mode or accept the 10 000 FD that he had earned, before either continuing or stopping.

Linus hesitated as he needed the 500 million FD that the 100 consecutive victories would provide, but he had realised that he wouldn't be capable of winning even 20 consecutive battles thus he decided to gain what he could and give up on earning the required money through the battle coliseum.

He withdrew the 10 000 FD and left the consecutive duel challenge which resulted in him gaining the ranking of the 'ice prince#1234' due to defeating him in an official duel. Linus then left the digital world as Nyx was mentally exhausted from the last battle due to the nature of mind skills affecting people and pets in the real world through the digital world. His current plans were to focus on the nine realms of hell trial of the Blood Shura while having Nyx train all her skills and mind mirror. The battle coliseum would only be used as combat training against more varying opponents once a week to test their improvement more directly for the National examination.
