《Freya》XVIII. Power vs Technique

Those taps did little to no damage.
No matter what, those taps were preemptive attacks, thrown with the purpose to ruin Tatz's rhythm, to stop his attacks. Those preemptive attacks, weren't meant to cause significant damage. All he had to do, were to think of those attacks as mosquito bites and find a pattern which would allow him to land the killing blow on his opponent.
Thus, the theoretical battle started.
Right kick---> Stopped by Freya placing her sword at his thigh---> Fail.
Right kick---> Stopped by Freya placing her sword at his thigh---> Fail. Transition to a left hook---> Missed and failed.
Right kick---> Stopped by Freya placing her sword at his thigh---> Fail. Tried to grab the sword---> She pulled the sword back---> Preparing for a left hook---> A light tap on the forehead ruined his rhythm---> Fail.
Theory wasn't working as smooth as he thought it would be. Those taps were slowly getting more and more annoying. Tatz decided to give his attacks even more variation.
Power right kick---> Freya placed her sword at his thigh---> Not enough power to stop his kick---> The sword pushed her away with Tatz's own power to a safe distance---> Fail.
Right hook---> Stopped by a preemptive attack on his right shoulder---> Fail.
Power right hook---> She tapped on his right shoulder---> Tatz still able to push forward---> She used the tip of the sword as pivot to move sideways to avoid the blow and landed a quick tap on his forehead while evading---> Fail.
Tackle---> Placed the sword on his right shoulder, used it as a pivot, and dodged to her left---> Fail.
Tackle---> Placed the sword on his right shoulder, used it as a pivot, and dodged to her left---> Anticipated the dodge and threw a left hook---> She quickly placed her sword at his forehead, maintaining the distance, the blow couldn't reach---> Fail.

Tatz was getting more and more irritated by what was happening. He started to feel the taps more distinctively. He knew that when a person use a sword, it could be hard to gain the distance as a sword has longer reach. Usually, it was a problem he could easily overcome with his the strength and agility granted by his Extinct Formulae Magic. His opponent however, the lady with the sheathed sword, made that distance felt awfully far. His blows were just a few centimeters away from landing, but she always managed to dodge and she had yet to blunder with maintaining the distance. Those few centimeters, to him, felt like kilometers away. Tatz, vexed, continued on.
Right front kick---> Tap on right thigh before he could unleash the attack---> Stopped---> Fail.
Left front kick---> Quick tap on forehead---> Lost balance, failed to gauge distance, missed---> Fail.
Left front kick, making sure he got his right pivot foot planted firmly---> Quick tap on forehead---> Didn't lose balance---> She dodged to her right and again landed a tap on his forehead---> Fail.
Left front kick, making sure he got his right pivot foot planted firmly---> Quick tap on forehead---> Didn't lose balance---> She dodged to her right and again landed a tap on his forehead---> He quickly landed his left feet, tried left jab---> Left the sword placed on his forehead---> Jab couldn't reach---> Fail.
It will land, Tatz convinced himself. The taps had gone even more annoying, but soon enough she should run out of stamina from swinging the sword. When that happens, she would surely make a mistake which I can exploit. Time is on my side.
A miscalculation on Tatz side, was that although Freya had less stamina compared to Tatz, she was using less stamina in those taps compared to all his attacks. He thought that swinging the sword took a great deal of stamina to do, but he didn't know that Freya's sword was made of Altune, a metal which one could find in the market to be the most durable; and the lightest. Freya could continue her taps all day long if she wanted to. However, the battle didn't last that long.

Again and again Tatz tried to land an attack, failures and failures kept piling up. Right kick, fail. Left kick, fail. Jab, fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. It kept piling up.
The failures weren't the only thing that was piling up. The taps were too. Those light taps which did little to no damage. After some time had passed, of continuous failures, the battle was about to reach its conclusion.
The taps Freya gave were all mainly concentrated on 3 parts of Tatz's body. His forehead, the right shoulder, and the right thigh. Why was that important? And why would such things be important to note? There was a good explanation:
Freya's attack, in analogy, was like hammering a nail. She decided a spot to attack on, then slowly and surely, she kept hitting it repetitively. Although light, the nail would eventually sink and land. It was the same with those taps.
The taps started as mosquito bites. But as it kept piling up, Tatz felt a more distinctive pain which he chose to ignore, believing that his victory was within his grasp. When he came to realization of what Freya was doing however, it was all too late.
He could no longer move his right arm and his right leg had been rendered immobilized. Without his right arm, his attacks became more sluggish. Without his right leg, his movements became more sloppy. Freya, who was still unharmed and still had a reserve of stamina, was in total control of the battle.
Ray, who managed to remain conscious and was spectating, saw a one sided match. Tatz was like a marionette with a string and Freya was like a puppet master. He couldn't help but pity the tattooed man despite him being his enemy. The swordswoman made it all look so easy... So-- effortless.
Eventually, just like how the battle started, the battled ended with a tap. Freya tapped Tatz's forehead, which was a victim of continuous piled damage, and he fell to the ground with his back.
It was Freya's complete victory.
