《Red Road》Chapter 22 - A New Life

Kiron was sitting on his bed with Shion sleeping next to him, he had now entered the 3rd rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm!
But it was late. Everyone else had already gone to sleep, and Kiron realized he should get some sleep as well. The Burning Phoenix Sect would send someone over to escort them at sunset tomorrow!
Kiron laid down next to Shion and closed his eyes.
…
“Kiron… Kiron… Come on… Wake up!” Kiron opened his eyes and saw Robin calling out to him. “The Burning Phoenix Sect is here to escort us to the sect!”
Both Kiron and Shion got out of the bed, “Hey Kiron, did you break through to the 3rd rank? Congratulations!” Robin said with a smile on his face. “Anyways, pack everything you need to bring!”
“Thanks! I’ve already packed everything. I need to say my goodbyes with mother before I leave!” This was the day Kiron would leave. He wanted to say goodbye to his mother one last time before he leaves.
Robin nodded, “Alright, then I will be waiting outside the house together with the Burning Phoenix Sect elders.” Robin said as he pointed towards the outside.
“The Burning Phoenix Sect elders are here? I thought they were going to send some of the older disciples to pick us up!” Kiron said with a surprised expression on his face.
Robin shook his, “Yes, they said something came up, so they would rather escort us personally.” Robin had also asked the Burning Phoenix Sect elders about this, but that was the answer he was given.
Kiron nodded. It didn’t really matter who they sent to escort them, as long as it was someone who could escort them to the sect he was satisfied.
… Kiron knocked on his mother’s door
Charlotte opened the door, “You’re leaving now?” Charlotte said with a sad voice. She already knew that he was leaving early this day. “Yes… I’m leaving now, I just wanted to say goodbye” Kiron hugged his mother one last time as he spoke.
“Then remember, no matter how bad things get, you will always have a place where you can return to!” Tears were running down her cheeks as she spoke.
Kiron nodded, “I will be sure to come back some time!” He said as he walked towards the exit.
“Goodbye Kiron! Goodbye Shion!” Charlotte waved her arm as she watched Kiron and Shion leave the house.

Outside the house, Robin and two of the Burning Phoenix Sect elders were waiting for him. As he started walking towards them, both Elder Kurai and Elder Pavong received a huge shock. “Dragon!” They both noticed Shion who was walking next to Kiron.
“Hello Elder Pavong!” Kiron recognized Elder Pavong, but he had never met Elder Kurai before, “My name is Kiron, and this is my friend Shion. Might I ask Senior for his name?” Kiron bowed his head slightly as he spoke.
Elder Kurai was staring at Kiron with a shocked expression on his face. “So it was true… No wonder he is so strong… A dragon!” Elder Kurai thought to himself. He had a hard time believing the rumors, but now that he had personally witnessed it, he could finally believe in Kiron’s strength.
What he didn’t know was that Shion isn’t the source of Kiron’s strength. Kiron’s source of strength comes from the Golden Dragon blood within him!
Elder Kurai broke out of his trance, “Oh right… My name is Kurai! I’m Douglas’s father. It’s a pleasure to meet you!” Elder Kurai bowed his head politely as he spoke.
… They walked out of the city and towards the Burning Phoenix Sect.
“Hey Kiron… What kind of a dragon is that? I’ve never seen any dragon race like that before!” Elder Kurai looked at Shion with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
Kiron looked at Elder Kurai, “Honestly, I have no idea. And he’s still too young to speak properly. Right now, he can at most say a few words.” Kiron looked as Shion as he spoke.
Elder Kurai decided to not press the matter any further. If Kiron didn’t know what race Shion was, then there is no need to push the matter any further.
… Many hours passed by
“It’s huge!” Kiron was shocked upon seeing how big the Burning Phoenix Sect was! It was much bigger than Taruck!
Elder Pavong started laughing, “Of course it’s big, we have over 5,000 disciples!” Elder Pavong said with a prideful voice.
“Once we enter the sect, you boys will be brought to your rooms. You will be living together in one of the dorm rooms.” Elder Kurai said as he pointed towards a large building.
As they entered the gate, “Remember, in this sect, everyone will treat each other equally! No fighting or bullying is allowed in this sect. If you are caught bullying or fighting someone who isn’t willing to fight, you will be expelled.” Elder Kurai continued, “Of course, a friendly match is always allowed! We host fighting tournaments with prizes all the time!”

“Of course Elder Kurai! We will treat everyone in this sect like brothers!” Robin said. His voice was filled with excitement! He had always wanted to join a sect, and now… He had finally joined one!
Elder Pavong laughed, “Haha, that’s the spirit! Now come, I will bring you to your rooms!” Elder Pavong started walking towards the dormitory as he spoke.
The sect members were staring at Kiron and Shion as they were walking towards the dormitory, “Is that a… Is that a dragon?” No matter where Kiron was, people were talking about Shion. It was his first day in the sect, and he was already a hot topic!
… Kiron and Robin were brought to their room.
“Then, I’ll take my leave.” Elder Pavong took 2 keys out of his pocket as he spoke. One for Kiron and one for Robin. He then left the room.
“Haha, so we’re finally here! A new life begins!” Robin said as he jumped into his bed. Robin then looked at Kiron who had an unsatisfied look on his face, “What’s wrong, Kiron?”
Kiron sighed, “We can’t leave this place without supervision from one of the elders… Unless we get to the 10th rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm.” Kiron didn’t want to be stuck inside. He wanted to go outside, and explore!
“Then, we just have to reach the 10th rank as soon as possible, right?” Robin said with a smile on his face, “Besides, if we can convince the elders to let us go outside and hunt for profound beasts, then I’d say we could get to the 10th rank within … 10 years!” Robin said with an uncertain voice.
Kiron sat down next to Shion, “Then, my main goal will be to reach the 10th rank as fast as possible!” Kiron said as he patted Shion on the head. Shion climbed up on Kiron’s lap and laid down there.
…
“So… You personally saw this? He actually has a dragon as his soul beast?” Sect Leader Samon said with a normal voice. It was obvious that he was trying to keep his excitement locked up.
Elder Pavong took out a book that describes all dragons and what races there are, “Yes, it’s true! But the weird thing is… His dragon, Shion… We don’t know what race it is! It’s a red dragon with black stripes on its scales!” Elder Pavong had skimmed through the book, trying to find some information on Shion, but in the end he didn’t find any information at all.
“Then… Could it be that this dragon comes from the Chaotic Lands? There was reports on a fight between a dragon and some human at the Profound Elemental Realm, I received that report a couple of days ago!” Sect Leader Samon continued, “That dragon didn’t fight back… Perhaps it was protecting its child?”
The elders and Sect Leader Samon tried coming up with possible theories as to why that dragon had appeared. In the end they decided that the dragon had dropped its child off in the mountains, then Kiron had encountered it and tamed it.
There really was no reason for them to treat this like a bad thing. They had just gained a powerful disciple who had a Divine Soul Beast! They decided to stop talking about the matter, and just be happy about it.
“But, no matter what happens… Don’t let any of this information leak to the outside! If any of the kingdoms finds out about Kiron and his Divine Beast, then they would destroy us just to get Kiron to join them!” Sect Leader Samon said with a worried voice.
The other elders nodded in agreement.
… 10 years passed in the blink of an eye.
Kiron was now 16 years old. Nothing major happened during these 10 years. Kiron went out with Elder Kurai and hunted for some High Ranked Cores, and he spent the rest of his time either training or hanging out with Shion and Robin.
“Hey Shion, you finally broke through to the 10th rank? Good job!” Kiron looked at Shion, who was now the size of a large bear.
Shion had actually grown to the size of a large bear 5 years ago, but he suddenly stopped growing after that.
“Yes! It’s all thanks to you helping me out! And it shouldn’t be long before you break through to the Profound Spiritual Realm!” Shion was the one who spoke just now. He was capable of communicating with Kiron now!

Jeremy, a teenage boy with a freakish talent for the clarinet, is less than thrilled when his mom announces that they’re up and moving to a tiny village on a tiny Scottish island the summer before his senior year of high school. But Dunsegall turns out to be an okay sort of place, if you like cliffs, sheep, and small-batch ice cream made by a family obsessed with Ray Charles. Two teenage locals — Colin and Aggie — quickly pull Jeremy under their wing and decide to give him a summer he’ll never forget. Everything is mostly fine until one day, in the depths of the woods, they stumble across a two hundred year-old monk and a living, breathing — or, rather, snoring — dragon who need their help. Together, Jer, Col, and Aggie delve into the hidden history of the island, getting up to their elbows in heresy, Highland Games, and, somehow, romance.
