《Red Road》Chapter 11 - Burning Phoenix Sect

The city gates were within sight, Kiron and his friends finally arrived at Taruck. “Hey Douglas, where’s the Burning Phoenix Sect?” Kiron wanted to help Douglas get back to the other sect members before starting to refine the High Ranked Core.
“We’re staying at the large hotel,” Douglas pointed towards a large building as he spoke. A large hotel that could be seen from anywhere in the city.
“Hey Kiron, I’m going to sell these Low Ranked Cores, I’ll meet you back at the inn later!” Robin said. Just as he was about to start walking, “Robin, could you sell my Low Ranked Cores as well?” Kiron took six Low Ranked Cores out of his bag and handed them over to Robin.
Robin nodded and started walking towards the marketplace... “We should be leaving as well!” Kiron and Douglas started walking towards the grand hotel.
…
“Douglas!” Kiron and Douglas turned around to see a small amount of people wearing red coats with a phoenix emblem; they’re from the Burning Phoenix Sect. “Douglas what happened to you?” The Burning Phoenix Sect members came running over, “A group of people from the Black Turtle Sect ambushed me while I was refining the Mid Ranked Core I got from the sect!” Douglas continued, “They asked me to hand over the core, but I refused… So they broke my legs and threw me down a crevice!”
Their expressions turned dark upon hearing about what the Black Turtle Sect had done to Douglas, “Those bastards! Who was it that broke your legs?” The person who spoke just now looked like their leader. He was the strongest person amongst their group, being at the 6th rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm.
“I don’t know the name of the person who broke my legs, but I do know he is at the 6th rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm!” Douglas then turned his head towards Kiron, “Sorry, I forgot to introduce you! Everyone, this is Kiron, even if it seems like he is at the 2nd rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm, he can easily destroy profound beasts at the 6th rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm! I saw him fight 17 Silver Wolves with another person, and he killed most of them by himself! He’s also the one who saved me!”

Douglas then took a Mid Ranked Core out of his pocket, “He even gave me this! Kiron treats me like a brother, so I hope you will treat him kindly!
The Burning Phoenix Sect members were flabbergasted as they looked at Kiron. “My name is Jin, I am 9 years old and I am of the 6th rank. Any brother of Douglas is a brother of mine! Nice to meet you, Kiron!” He extended his arm towards Kiron and shook his arm as he spoke.
“It’s nice to meet you, Jin! I hope we can get along in the future! Also, are you participating in the tournament that starts in 2 days?” Kiron appreciated the kindness Jin was showing him, and of course, if someone treats him kindly, he would be sure to repay the kindness!
“The tournament? Yes, every disciple of the Burning Phoenix Sect will be joining the tournament, except for Douglas because he is too young. How about you, Kiron?” Jin said while looking at the small group of Burning Phoenix Sect members behind him.
Kiron looked at Jin, “I’m joining the tournament! And I’ll be sure to crush those disciples of the Black Turtle Sect!” Kiron said with a proud look on his face.
Jin started laughing, “Haha, that’s the spirit! Defeat those honor less scum!” Jin said with a satisfied expression on his face. The Burning Phoenix Sect had been on bad terms with the Black Turtle Sect for a long time now, and even if Jin and the other disciples were young, they would still understand from their seniors that there was a huge enmity between the two sects.
“Anyways, I have to go now. It was nice meeting you, Jin!” As Kiron spoke he started walking towards the inn.
The Burning Phoenix Sect members stared at Kiron’s back, “Anyways, let’s find Elder Pavong and tell him about all that happened.” The Burning Phoenix Sect members turned around and started walking towards the hotel.
…
Kiron arrived at inn. He opened the door to the room he and Robin had rented. “Seems like Robin hasn’t come back yet.” As Kiron spoke he turned his head around, looking around.
Kiron opened his bag and took out a High Ranked Core, “I suppose it’s time to start refining this High Ranked Core!” Kiron said as he sat down in a cross legged position.

“There’s so much World Qi within this High Ranked Core! Absorbing it all would take me at least 5 days!” Kiron was amazed by how much World Qi there was inside the High Ranked Core.¨
…
Meanwhile, at the grand hotel where the Burning Phoenix Sect members were staying. “The Black Turtle Sect members did what?!” Someone shouted with an angry voice.
“Elder Pavong, we will be sure to humiliate the Black Turtle Sect during the tournament!” Jin said with a proud voice. To treat one of their sect members like that? Of course they would be enraged! A sect was like a brotherhood, and the big brother has to look out for the younger ones.
Elder Pavong’s angry face turned into a smile, “Good, good! It’s important that you don’t let others bully you!” Elder Pavong continued, “And what about that Kiron who saved Douglas? Does he belong to any sects?”
“I’m not sure, but I think he does. According to Douglas, his strength is incredible. There’s no way a commoner can possess the same amount of strength that he does.” There was a hint of respect in Jin’s words.
Just as Elder Pavong was about to speak, “Actually, no, he doesn’t belong in any sects. Kiron and his friend Robin are looking to join a sect though.” Douglas was the one who started speaking. “Kiron and Robin lives in a small town called Norica”
Elder Pavong looked at Douglas, “They’re looking to join a sect? Why don’t we invite them to the Burning Phoenix Sect? You’re all on good terms with Kiron, right?” Elder Pavong looked at the Burning Phoenix Sect members as he spoke.
Jin nodded, “Yea, we got along well when we met earlier, I was kind to him and he was kind to me! He even gave Douglas a Mid Ranked Core!”
Elder Pavong started smiling, “Good! Does anyone know where Kiron is currently at?” Elder Pavong looked around, but there was no response, “What about you Douglas? Are they still in Taruck, or did they go back to their home town?”
Douglas looked at Elder Pavong, “They’re still in Taruck, but I don’t know where. All I know is that Kiron said something about refining a High Ranked Core.” Douglas continued, “Oh right, both Kiron and Robin will be participating in the upcoming tournament! You will probably find them over there!”
...
Kiron sat on the ground next to his bed, cross legged and eyes closed. “I probably won’t be able to reach the 3rd rank before the tournament starts…” Kiron said with a sigh. “Oh well, I can’t be greedy. I only reached the 2nd rank some days ago.”
“You’re actually complaining about not being able to reach the 3rd rank in just a couple of days? Just wait until you reach the 6th rank, you’d probably have to spend a year just climbing one rank!” Robin stood behind Kiron as he spoke.
Kiron turned around with a shocked expression on his face, “When did you get in here?” Kiron hadn’t noticed Robin’s presence at all.
“I got here an hour ago, but you were training so peacefully, so I didn’t want to interrupt you!” Robin said with a laugh, seeing the shocked expression on Kiron’s face was truly amusing for Robin.
Robin took six gold bars out of his bag, “Here, each of these are worth a hundred gold! It’s much easier to carry these around than 600 gold coins.” Robin continued, “If you want gold coins, you can exchange them at the agency that’s located in the marketplace!”
Kiron took the gold bars and put them in his bag, “Thanks!” Kiron bowed his head slightly. “Anyways, I’ll be refining the High Ranked Core for the next 2 days. Even if I won’t be able to reach the 3rd rank before the tournament begins, I should be able to reach the 3rd rank in the middle of the tournament!”
“I’ll be working on refining these Mid Ranked Cores then.” Robin took a Mid Ranked Core out of his bag and sat down cross legged next to his bed.
The tournament was starting at sunrise in 2 days, and it will be a hard tournament with the Black Turtle Sect disciples and the Burning Phoenix Sect disciples participating.
