2.15 am, Cancun, Mexico
“I help.” Maria says as she stands by the office door, “I save my son.”
“Sweetie, believe in us.” Wave says as she touches Maria’s shoulder, “This is what we do. Help us by keeping everyone else calm. We will save your son if we can. Okay?”
Maria nods then runs off.
Wave breathes out in relief.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Hurried shouts in Spanish follow the banging on the main exit.
Wave scans the monitor to see 4 guards banging at the main entrance. She also checks on Shade, who is crouching beside the main exit. Shade has a handgun in her left hand and a knife in her right hand. Wave dims the lights for the women’s prison.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
“Showtime,” Wave tells herself as she pushes the button that unlocks the main door.
The door slides open with a mechanical clanking. Three guards rush into a dark prison to find no flames and no guards.
“Bernado?” The guard in the lead asks aloud.
The doors shut behind them, purging everything into darkness.
“ARGH!!” The guard closest to the door shouts as he is suddenly stabbed from behind.
Shade shoves the impaled guard into the one in front as she simultaneously shoots the leader of the pack.
Gunpowder flashes in the darkness.
BANG! BANG!
BANG! BANG!
THUD!
The body of the lead guard collapses. The stabbed guard is also shot. The middle guard struggles in the dark to locate his attacker. His slow reaction earns him two bullet holes.
BANG! BANG!
All the guards lie dead in a pool of their own blood from two bullets to each of their heads.
“As usual, she didn’t need my help.” Wave says as she examines the dark monitors, her hand still resting on a handgun.

Wave looks at the screen showing a guard right outside the exit. The poor bloke is panickedly attempting to call for help.
“That should leave 4 for the blokes.” Wave says then shouts, “One outside.”
“Open.” Shade says.
Wave obliges by pressing the button that slides open the door. She watches the panicked guard on the screen raise his AK47 rifle at the mechanical door only to point at the darkness. He stands confused with trembling hands. A knife flies past his head. He turns his head to follow. Suddenly, he falls backward as two bullets enter his skull. He slumps down against the wall. Shade’s figure emerges from the darkness. She lumbers over the corpse with a red trail that stains the grey wall. She then takes up position against the closed entrance to the men’s prison.
“Gnarly.” Wave says to herself.
Wave turns on the prison lights. This shows the full gory scene of dead bodies in the middle of the hallway. A testament to Shade’s lethal effectiveness in battle which was only bested by Fire.
“Crikey! That’s a mess.” Wave notes.
ARGH!!!
Suddenly, a pain-filled scream roars through the prison. Wave grabs an AK47 rifle and dashes out of the office towards the exit, leaving the computer that reads 2.27 am.

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!

Re:Eclipse
Felix, an elite soldier, died in combat. He was one of the millions of people murdered every day by an unstoppable foe, who pushed mankind on the brink of extinction. His consciousness was stored in a secret bunker, but, by mistake, the transfer into a new body took five hundred years more than expected. Sadly, the only one available was of a short and weak teenager who died many years before. Many things changed in the meantime: magic, dragons, and other creatures that were once thought to be of fantasy are now common, and a new system rules on everyone and everything, allowing a person to enhance his body past human limits. He'll start again from scratch, trying to master it, but his time isn't infinite: mankind's worst enemy is yet to be defeated, and it's getting ready to finish the job once and for all.

DEATH QUEST
You are Hayden Waltess. You have no skills, no money, one family member, and a few good friends. If you don't find a way to make six hundred golden claws within the next forty eight hours, your little sister Shale is going to die. Steal the money? You can't break wards, and you don't know anyone who can. Beg for it? You live in Lecliss, the corrupt capital city of Raun. Beggars pave the roads. No one will notice an extra pebble. Earn it? Not through any normal job. You'd be lucky to make even a single golden claw in a week. No. There's only one way to make that kind of money in time. In a corner of the adventurer's guild lit by a dim lantern, three long, dusty, ragged pieces of parchment are pinned to a huge board on the wall. Each piece of parchment has an enormous sum of money written in bold at the top, an illustration in the center, and then countless names of adventurers below, each name written in a different hand, each invariably crossed out with a thin red line. The sign above the board reads: DEATH QUESTS An interactive action/adventure story with game-like and horror elements, set in the same universe as my other story, Gattican Drive. You can also read it on webnovel. Updates once every three days (unless it doesn't)
