《Jacob WillBreaker》Chapter 5 Bedding

Insatiable Hunger takes over what is left of my shattered mind. My Right arm returns to normal still holding on to Paul’s heart. Staring at the heart in front of me, my mouth starts to drool as my hunger wins against what little morals I have left. Shoving the heart into my mouth and feeling the blood dripping down my throat brings me great happiness. Finishing the heart I move on to the rest of the body, ripping apart the flesh, drinking the blood and crunching on the bones.
Gorging on the body of my former tormentor isn’t as easy as I would have desired. My juvenile teeth start to break and bend as I eat the body in front of me. Remembering how my arm moved and felt I try to apply it to my teeth. The feeling of sludge running up from my stomach into my gums is a peculiar but not entirely unpleasant. Slowly moving out of my Gums the sludge starts to form new teeth that are stronger and sharper than the last.
While finishing up what is left of Paul I start to think. What am I? what is this "sludge" inside of me? Why did Paul share his memories with me? Are they real? Or was it just to anger me more? I know one thing though; I can’t stay in the church after what I have done. If the other priests are as powerful or more so than Paul and they all work together to deal with me there is no way I can resist. But why leave the beautiful church it has been my home since I can remember. As these thoughts go through my mind a warm feeling like a commutable bed accompanies them.
Recognizing what is happening to my mind I rush over to Paul’s pile of clothes in search of the amulet. Finding it in the form of a bronze necklace that has been sown into his priest robes, I start to rip it out with my new-formed teeth. Once free of the fabric I place the amulet, of a spiral inside of a triangle representing the church of soul which follows the Gods of life, spirit, and mind, around my neck. The fog starts to retreat from my conscious as free thought is once again in control of my mind.

[So this means that Paul memories were real? But why was I shown them? Thinking back through the memories I see a blurry patch before the sudden crusade where the personality of Father Paul is greatly altered and after that, the memories feel different. Could it be that Father Paul had his mind altered to become Paul and that his subconscious was trying to show me the memories to justify his actions? Or maybe I am looking too much into it. Paul was multitasking with entertaining himself with my body while using magic he had not used since the crusades 10 years ago it would not be hard to imagine that he just slipped up. And what was the giant metal buildings and knowledge what came out of nowhere?]
Catching myself before my mind begins to wander again I begin to think. My most pressing concern comes to the forefront of my mind, getting out of the church alive. After using Pauls robes to wipe the blood off of my face and body. I walk over to my clothes that are scattered across the floor from when Paul was playing reverse dress up and start to put them back on. Once this is done I start to search the room for valuables as I start to think of how to escape.
I could wait for night to slip out but by that time the church could notice the missing priest and be on high alert. Servants under the age of 13 aren’t allowed to leave the church grounds unsupervised. I could try to climb the tree at the back of the compound to jump over the wall but is in clear view and I don’t know what is on the other side.
Stopping I take a look at the loot gathered around me, A small knife, a storage ring that can store a space of around 1 meter cubed with 2 silver coins and 74 coppers inside (100 copper= 1 silver, 100 silvers= 1 gold, 100 gold= 1 platinum) and a fire gem which can produce a small flame with a box of 34 cigars. I take all this and put it into the storage ring.

The fire gem gives me an idea. I exit Paul’s room and walk confidently to the servant’s dominatrices, once inside I lock the door and start to gather all of the bedding from the bunks apart from 10-bed sheets that I use to tie 2 pieces of rope with 5 sheets per rope. The church has an enchantment to stop a fire from spreading on to the building and to sound an alarm when there is one, but that does not mean that the things inside the church can't burn. I then move some of the wooden bed frames over the pile of bedding.
Laying out one of the ropes so one end is touching the pile while the other end is in the open, I set it on fire using the fire gem. Hoping that this will work as a makeshift fuse I run over to the door unlock it, take the key lock it from the outside and hurry over to the tree at the back of the compound. I made the fuse because the enchantments don't react to small fires, otherwise, it would be very difficult to cook, so the fuse gives me time to run over to the tree before the big fire starts causing the necessary distraction.
I make it to the tree before the fire alarm starts so I wait, sitting behind the tree for 30 seconds. Once the alarm starts I wait another 30 seconds for people to rush over to the fire. When the 30 seconds are up I climb the tree with little difficulty. Now slightly over the height of the wall, I tie the second makeshift rope to one of the larger branches. I hold on to the other end of the rope and jump over the wall. The rope holds for about 2 seconds until I fall into the unknown streets below.

One to wander the realm in search of power, to protect themselves and what they believe in. They know their path to be the only one. Writers note: The first chapter will set the standard in terms of mood for the remainder of the story. It also comes to no surprise to me that half the people who read the first part stop reading any further. It has quite a bit of the good ‘ol ‘ultra-violence’ mixed with a great deal of realism. As much as I could fit into it from my own knowledge and experience in the elite forces. The first few chapters will be slow, after, but starting from ‘Restless Destroyer’ the remainder of the world will start to open up, and when we hit ‘Adronitis’ the prologue is largely finished. The novel is well thought out and filled with hidden lore, culture, history. So even if my word choice appears random – it’s not. There is a reason why these chapters take as long as they do. Vermodalen is fantasy adventure, with magic and heroics in an as realistic setting as I could fit. Things are rarely what they seem, and the ugly nature of people bleed through the letters at the turn of every page. I hope you can give this story a fair chance, even if it isn’t immediately to your taste. Lastly, english isn't my first language. It isn't my second one either. So, if you find errors in grammer and spelling, wordplay and sentance building, do let me know, and you will be rewarded by a surge of dopamine that will be released inside your brain for helping someone whom you haven't even seen or heard.

Midnight Origins: Arrival
On a lush planet known as Bhar, Verun is now the leading nation in the development of the rivaled schools of Magic and Science. Having brought forth an era of peace and prosperity for themselves through the development of Magitech, The High council was eager to spread their knowledge and beliefs to the furthest reaches of the continent, with the goal of ending senseless conflicts and prioritizing advancements in Magitech and improving the quality of life. This ambition, however, is not without opposition. Most followers side with one school or another, believing it is superior in nature. This conflict dates back to the very beginning of civilization itself, where it is believed by both sides that their gods descended from the heavens, bestowing upon them the knowledge that would bring the world into a new age. And though some took great interest in their differences, others would seek to convert each other through any means necessary. That being the case, The High council, leaders of Verun, had made the necessary preparations to handle threats and attempt diplomacy between the remaining opposers. Talented volunteers were hand chosen to be among the military, tasked with protecting the nation from both internal and external threats. And although non-biological creations have improved quality of life, they are not yet capable of replacing the military. The necessary research and development for such a thing was thought to be decades away, until Councilman Eranor encountered an anomaly in his facility…
