《Flipping the Galaxy》Chapter 17

As he looked at the beauty of a ship in front of him, Renato couldn't help but feel proud of himself. As if sensing his thoughts Paddy interjected, "The Huragoks have done a really good job, you should reward them when possible young master"
Renato couldn't help but groan and say "Why do you always have to poke holes in my pride, Paddy! While the Huragoks did the manufacturing, I was the one that made the plans for the ship!"
"Even the plans you made were improved in the end by the Huragoks. Oh~ Don't worry young master, I am just trying to keep your pride in check. We don't want you to turn into an arrogant young master."
"What! How do you even know that?" Renato asked, now truly mind-boggled. Did the Star Wars universe also have cultivation fantasies?
"Sigh! Young master, all the stories and fiction you make are stored on the same computer I am on."
Renato couldn't help but utter an "Oh!", as if realising it just now.
"Don't worry young master, I really love your stories. I especially like Astroboy and One piece. I think you should publish your stories on the holonet, they would surely be a good additional source of income, now that our funds are totally at the bare bottom"
"You think I should post them? But will they really be popular? I would rather have these works as my private collection rather than letting them be buried by history as some unimportant work"
"Oh, sure young master! People would absolutely love your stories! From my market research, they should completely dominate the entire fiction market of the galaxy for quite some time"
Renato couldn't help but think about it while weighing the pros and cons. The stories and fiction Paddy was talking about were earth fiction. He had rewritten most of his favourite fiction and novels while taking some creative liberties to make them suitable for a child who had grown up in this galaxy into one of his computers.
This was because if he one day had a child, he didn't want them to grow up without having never learned about the masterpieces he had enjoyed during his limited time on earth.
He was once again also grateful for the fact that Rob included all the creative works in Halo verse as it contained the endings of all the favourite series he watched before his death. However, he found that the number of good quality works started decreasing a bit as their continuous war started to sap the writer's creativity and positivity.
On the one hand, it was any fiction lover's dream to be a part of the creative process of their fandom, on the other hand, he didn't want these masterpieces to die an ignorable death in the wider galaxy just because the people had different tastes.
After thinking about it he decided," Well, you can post it! but put them all in a single website dedicated to these stories. As for the monetization of these stories, I will leave it in your hands, but don't put the price too high! I want these stories to be affordable for most of the galaxy. If you want you can make money by authorising the merchandise or something similar."
Paddy's voice immediately went up a few pitches and she squealed "Ah! My first job as a true assistant! You would think as a droid designed with corporate executives in mind that I would end up working at a corporation! But nooo! I ended up with a small shop owner who wanted me because….."

By this time, Renato tuned her out because he had heard this story so many times that he already knew the rant by heart and instead started focusing on the ship. One of the first things he felt while exploring the ship was the sonic cleansers at the entrance of the ship.
It baffled Renato that many more people in the SW verse hadn't used this trick on their bigger ships already. Because instead of maintaining dozens of droids solely used for cleaning, just make the entrance a cleaning entrance that left all the dust and debris outside and inside of the ship clean enough. The item didn't even use that much power and only used up the equivalent of 5 to 6 droids worth of energy compared to the 30 droids that would have been required to take care of the ship otherwise.
There were only very few species that reacted badly to the technology used in the sonic showers and very few technologies and materials that need to be protected from the sonic technology and he had made an exception sticker that can be placed on those species/materials/technology so that the field skips over them.
While all of this looked kind of cute, it was actually very important for Renato who was always having a shortage of materials to save on the materials for what would have likely been dozens of droids.
The next thing he noticed was the painting on the ship. This was one of the few original ideas that he had come up with. Temperature control in space was one of the things that used up lots of energy on a spaceship.
Unlike on a planet where you can just throw the heat into the atmosphere and be done, in space it is a lot harder to achieve because there is no atmosphere to suck the heat out of the ship and it has to slowly naturally radiate out. Not to mention the fact that if you were anywhere near a star, you burn fuel so quickly that it was very costly.
His solution to this problem was colour changing paint. The paint he used on the ship could change into every colour of the greyscale by applying just a bit of current to the paint. This meant that the ship could retroactively change its colour to its needs.
If the ship was too close to a star the paint would turn white and it would reflect off as much as the radiation it can keep the cooling costs down. On the other hand, if the ship was too deep into space it could turn black absorbing as much as the surrounding radiation to reduce heating costs.
While these things looked like very small additions, on ships the size of his new ship there were significant gains in the stamina of the ship. Finished admiring his work from the outside, he walked onto the ship as all the soot on his body from the planet outside dropped into the grill and onto the land. He walked through the mostly empty halls of the ship to reach the control deck.
There in the control deck connected to several different were his SNY series droids. These were the higher-end models of the CHP series droids he had designed last week. Unlike the CHP droids, which would be marketed to the broader market in the future, SNY droids would be targeted at the luxury segment of the market.
The base frame look of an SNY droid was extremely barebones and basically had almost little to no plating. This was a conscious design choice because Renato knew that most luxury users almost always go for the unique aspect they want.

So instead, Renato made the droid highly customisable on anything other than the major working components. Unlike the CHP series droids, the SNY came with many higher-grade parts and Renato even decided that he would add a make your droid to the sales website.
Since it was considered an expensive droid, there would be a much higher profit margin and he could sacrifice some of it for more of the market share. While for the customisable parts, he would provide some models on the site while he would allow the market to take over.
This way he can build a larger business ecosystem and probably future political clout with an alliance. Hmm, listening to himself he couldn't help but wonder if he was slowly turning into a confederate.
Back on the ship, the control deck was heavily inspired by Halo and even had a tactical holo-table. Continuing his tour he went to the next most important room on the ship, his room. It wasn't that far from the control deck because in case of an emergency he could be there at the fastest time possible.
His room was a large 3000 sqft, and was divided into four areas. The resting area where he could relax. Sleep, watch holo-dramas on his animus rip-off etc. The animus rip-off, as he called it, was nothing but a VR machine that used his brain wave recognition technology as operating controls and had a VR headset.
He still hadn't figured out the way the animus made the user "full-dive". But when he does, you bet your sweet bippy he will make an MMORPG for the Star Wars galaxy and maybe even port some of the earth's favourite games.
Adjacent to that was the closed meditation/training room which he would use for his force practice, alchaka and other daily exercises and came equipped with the environmental control system he designed.
The environmental control systems he made for training were one of the best uses of his time on Tython as he ended up using multiple technologies from both the universes such as holographs, gravity manipulation, and environmental simulation technologies. It took a very small amount of time to make some changes and it was now being used shipwide.
Following the training room was his lab. Here he completed one of his previous life dreams to have a Tony Stark experience and tricked out the entire room with interactive holoprojectors, high tech fabricators, and other high-end scientific testing equipment. A lot of space was saved from a modern earth standpoint as most tools in both Star Wars had advanced enough that most could do the work of a dozen or more instruments.
Finally, the last and his favourite part of his room was the attached spa/bathroom. It had all the spa facilities and came with another one of his childhood dreams, a machine to pamper him and dress him up. What? Don't judge him, it was one of his dreams when waking for school to have a machine that did all the cleaning for him, dressed him up and stylized him all the while he would have been in the heavenly semi-sleep state.
To be honest, Renato himself spent a disgusting amount of time working on what he dubbed the spa module. He justified himself that it would be a profitable venture for the future and he didn't doubt for a moment that it would be a success as he had cheated with the help of Rob's knowledge.
Satisfied with his room, Renato proceeded to the special supercomputer mainframe that he had for housing Paddy and increasing her capabilities with Ship integrations. At this point, Halo was unsurprisingly very advanced and had already maximised the abilities of their shipboard A.I's.
This was practically impossible in the Star Wars universe due to them not knowing how to tone down the learning algorithms on their A.I's and facing several rebellions throughout the years. The intense distrust of any synthetic life form has been almost hardwired to the galactic culture at large. The existence of force users capable of using Mechu-deru probably didn't help things even if they weren't as widely known.
With this housing made for Paddy, she would be able to handle the increased workload of managing the systems of a ship this large with relative ease and have plenty of computational power for spare. Hell, in fact with the level of her learning algorithms with time she should be able to increase the efficiency of the systems even and increase her computational capacity further.
Following that, Renato toured the remaining facilities like crew lounges, cafeteria, droid stations, weapon storage, and the cargo hold. He finished the tour by going to fighter bays and getting a feel for the controls of the fighter in case he needed to use it in an emergency. From there he was going to go back to the control deck to start their journey however Paddy interrupted.
He looked to the side to see Paddy's Hologram back in her teacher's outfit, with spectacles. She pushed her spectacles to the top of her nose bridge to show her seriousness. "Before we start, let's have a pop quiz on the safety features of the ship, young master."
"What? You don't need to do this Paddy; I am the guy who designed the spaceship and with my occlumency, I won't forget."
"But Young master, if you take a pop quiz it will improve your memory response times. I specifically made this pop quiz repeatable and it will put you in different situations. The fun part is that there is a very small-time limit with each quiz that was calculated by yours truly and the punishments for failing have been handpicked by me!"
She said the last part with a large smile on her face that honestly reminded Renato of the Devil. After 3 hours of tortuous pop quizzes with a variety of his privileges at stake, Renato completed all the assignments in a satisfactory amount of time, according to Paddy.
All jokes aside, it was in times like this that he truly appreciated Paddy for looking after him and reminding him that there was still someone that cared for him in this galaxy. A majority of the wider galaxy may have dismissed Paddy as a machine, but for him, she was a true person and the care she showed him was real.
She was one of the major reasons he had been able to keep his sanity intact through these years of training on an abandoned planet. Now that he had finished the pop quiz, they could finally take off this planet.
He entered the control deck to see Paddy's hologram popping up from the tactical holo-table.
"All systems are primed and ready to take off young master."
"Then what are we waiting for, let's head to Dac"
"Of course."
"Engaging gravity engines
Retracting landing gear"
As soon as her voice travelled there was a very slight jerk as the ship's landing gear retracted into the ship and the ship changed to the gravity engine and started levitating.
"Checking for hostile presence and monitoring…..No hostile presence was detected.
Exiting planet gravity,.. Calculating hyperspace route and trajectory.
Preparing to enter in t-minus 10 secs, 9, 8, …...3,2,1"
Soon the ship jumped into the hyperspace and there was a moment of peace until it was broken by HK.
"Statement: I think I have had enough vacation on that planet to last a lifetime.
Expectation: My droid circuits are sparking in anticipation for the chance to kill some meatbags after more than 2 millennia. I wonder if it is harder than it previously was
