Kingdom Arlikia:
Mage Ranks:
The mages of the world are divided into four ranks. Apprentice Mage: This is the foundational stage that distinguishes normal people from mages. The ability to control mana is a rare one, albeit widespread. This is further divided into three stages: Apprentice Low-Tier: Mage can learn two basic spells. Apprentice Mid-Tier: Mage can learn three basic spells. Apprentice High-Tier: Mage can learn three basic spells, and use two simultaneously. Amateur Mage: The second stage requires the mage to channelize the internal mana, apart from just using it for casting. This enables one mage to transfer their own mana to others. Amateur Low-Tier: Mage can use one common spell. Amateur Mid-Tier: Mage can use two common spells and use two simultaneously Amateur High-Tier: Mage can three common spells and use two simultaneously. By knowing six basic/common, one can cast advance spells. Progressive Mage: The third stage is marked by the ability of the mage to cast advance spells, examples being those that cause an area of effect damage like [Explosion] or [Waterfall]. Healers naturally fall under this category once they learn [Heal], the highest level spell healing spell in the word. Progressive Low-Tier: Mage can use one advance spell Progressive Mid-Tier: Mage can use two advance spells. Progressive High-Tier: Mage can use three advance spells. Cognoscente Mage: This stage is marked by the ability of the mages to use advanced spells simultaneously. They are also called wizards, and there are only a handful of mages who have crossed the threshold of this stage. Multicast requires large mana reserves in the body while using internal mana, so only those with extremely high aptitude can breach the progressive stage.
Spells:
The spells form the basis of magic in the world, just like how mana is the fundamental essence of magic. Every spell requires a definite amount of mana reserve without breaching the limits of which a caster cannot use a particular spell. So, each tier of mages has a definite internal mana reserve that lets them use spells pertaining to their tier once they learn how to cast it.

External casters can use high-tier spells right from the beginning, but their learning curve is much steeper than internal casters. Assembling impure mana and getting the desired amount takes years of practice, so it takes longer for them to reach the higher level of mages, despite having a surplus mana supply at all times. Multicasting is much easier for external casters, for they don't have to worry about replenishing their mana reserve. They can multicast advance spells right from the progressive stage, so there is no cognoscente boundary for external casters.
Types of spells: Basic spells: They do not have requirements except for sufficient mana reserve and matching attributes.
Common spells: Mages often need to know basic spells before they can learn common spells, even if they have the necessary mana reserve.
Advance spells: They usually have multiple pre-requisites, and require a high level of mana reserve for sustenance. Even progressive mages are sucked dry after casting one or two advance spells.
Subclass: Summoning spells: The progressive mages can cast summoning spells if they have enough mana reserve. But sustenance of summoned animate objects prevents the caster from multicasting while the summoning spell is active. Incantation circles are a requirement, along with the summoner's blood, in addition to the specific attribute. Subclass: Pseudo-summoning spells: The summoning spells that do not require incantation circles and blood sacrifice.
Special spells: These are the spells not bound by the constraints of usual spells. Some of them needs multiple attributes for casting, while others are learnt during cognoscente tier, and so forth. [Dragon Eye] that needs earth and water attribute is a special spell, and all curse spells come under the purview of special spells.
Types of Casting:
Internal Casting: [will be explained]
External Casting: [will be explained]
