《Class Neutral: Stranger is Coming》Chapter 1

Character editor. Race and class. Choice is made.
A vast space stretched before my eyes. It was weird because I couldn’t see my own body at all, but I still felt it, almost as if I had become some kind of invisible man.
I noticed a large oval mirror with a pale golden border hanging freely in the air at a height of around ten feet. A message emerged before my eyes.
Choose a race!
Hmm... I wonder who I am going to be in this game. I reviewed the list of characters and chose one at random. Some big monster with pale green skin appeared in the mirror. Its black hair was tied up in a small tail, and its evil black eyes made me shudder.
Two fangs were sticking out of his mouth. His muscles were so impressive that any bodybuilder would envy looking at this jerk, but I didn’t like the character. I had never liked the orcs. I’ll try again.
A short, broad-shouldered dwarf with a bushy red beard appeared in the mirror. His snub nose, bushy eyebrows, and kind eyes made a good impression on me.
He had ordinary clothes, consisting of a simple shirt and pants with a rope instead of a belt, unlike the orc, which had been wearing only trousers. Moreover, the dwarf had a rather athletic figure. The developers kept trying to give players something they were deprived of in real life—for example, well-developed biceps. However, I wasn’t interested in it, and I decided to explore other options. Who’s next?
Long blond hair fell down the figure’s back like a waterfall. Amazing green eyes peered into the distance, shining with their beauty.
The pointy ears looked very impressive, but they could interfere while traveling through dense thickets and the like. If I had such a sugary appearance, in reality, all the girls would fall in love with me. However, this character was unsuitable for me also. I wonder if I could make this elf more courageous... I had better study the settings. I liked this proud and ancient race, but I’d prefer a different appearance… Unfortunately, despite my best attempts, I didn’t manage to achieve the desired image...

Okay, who else is there? Drows, hmm... These are the elves with dark-blue or dark-purple skin, although there are drows possessing obsidian-black skin, and others have a pale-gray skin, resembling ashes. It’s interesting, but it doesn’t suit me. There were also ogres, salvins and many other unusual races populating the list. At last, I decided that I would play as a human because I wasn’t ready to change my appearance so radically. I’d rather be in a human body.
An ordinary guy with dark hair and bright blue eyes, an inconspicuous face, and a slightly trained body were reflected in the mirror. I’d prefer a slightly different appearance. I reviewed the settings and soon achieved what I wanted. My own reflection, the same as in the real world, looked at me from the mirror, though the hair was slightly longer than before, and its color had changed to brown. The eyes also changed their blue color to gray, and then there was a straight nose, pursed lips, tired eyes, and a lean figure. Do I look like that? Well, the girls would probably prefer the previous one. But, I don’t care.
Race: human
Confirm your choice
Yes. Come on! Hurry up! I’d like to play this game now!
Choose your character class
Oh, I completely forgot about the class. Good players always analyze all available information, weigh all the pros and cons of each available class, and then make their decisions. What about me? Well, I’m a bad player.
There were a lot of classes. Which one shall I see first of all? I know!
A Warrior! My character received a sword and simple armor. Thus, he began to look a little more brutal. Oh, yeah. Now I’ll frighten a hare if it is five levels below me.
What else is there? A Necromancer. Hollow cheeks, pale skin, fatigue, and a look of envy. He was holding a shabby book adorned with a skull. Developers, are you kidding? If I see myself like this in real life, I’ll have to go to church just to cast out the devils.

An Archer. The same character, only now it was armed with a simple bow and a quiver of arrows.
Death knight, Ranger, Thief, Assassin, Paladin, Priest... I don’t like these.
I can’t be so picky. Have I really become so indifferent that nothing interests me?
What about social classes? There were diplomats, traders, ascetics and other options. Well, I could play this game without killing monsters. Perhaps I should only complete some quests and live happily.
No, I’d prefer fighting, but I can’t decide. Oh, I don’t care. I’ll choose a class at random. It would be very funny if I became a necromancer after all.
Enter the name of the character!
“Alexey!”
A character with this name already exists.
Screw it. Now I have to think of something else. I like the name ‘Stranger’, although this is the standard name of any player, besides a player with the same name already exists. I have an idea, though.
Character name: Allone
Race: human
Class: random
The choice is made! Welcome to Rainea!
Enjoy your game!

Candor: The Forgotten House
*** Please read note below *** As a 16-year-old mage from a powerful family, Jayce Candor had known from a young age what his future would hold. As the fourth son in his family the possibility of him becoming the heir to the household was very small. But, with his talent as a mage, his potential accomplishments in the military could lead to titles of nobility and political power. However, on what would otherwise be an unremarkable night, everything he had ever known, the only people he ever cared for, and all of the plans for his future were destroyed. House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. By imperial decree, all those bearing the name Candor were hunted down and executed as traitors of the Empire. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
