《Vylt: The New Dawn》Interlude 1: There is Another

I watched the raindrops slide across the window. The car ride was a quiet one, and Mum was already asleep. Traveling always had that effect on her.
My eyes met Dad’s in the rear mirror. I immediately smiled for him. He winked at me before focusing back on the road. I felt relief at the knowledge that he believed that smile. Our vacation had just ended. My concerns could wait until tomorrow.
I opened my sketchbook. My fingers traced the gray landscapes inside. I wished I could travel like that all the time. Discovering new places, learning the history of a city, its legends, getting to know their culture. For me, nothing else could compare to that feeling.
It wasn’t long before the night fell, and the rain intensified. My mind wandered back to that woman. I tightened the grip on my sketchbook. I could still hear her screams and smell the acrid odor of the disgusting black thing that fell from her mouth. My stomach felt queasy at the memory. I shut my eyes, trying to force out the horrifying image from my mind.
We were leaving soon, and I was supposed to be packing. I panicked and ran away. I couldn’t get involved. Her agonizing stare as she begged for my help refused to leave my mind.
I rubbed my chest in discomfort. The small sensation I originally blamed on guilt started to spread. My whole body felt hot, and it kept getting worse. I tried to hold back a whimper, but when I felt Dad’s sharp gaze, I knew I wasn’t successful. I tried reassuring him with a smile, only for it to come out as a grimace.
It burns…
No longer being able to hide it, I curled up and screamed in pain.
“What’s wrong!?” I heard Dad’s voice, but I could only let out another whimper.

“Darling?” I didn’t realize that Mum was awake, but I was grateful to feel her hand on mine. “Stop the car!” She yelled.
“There is nowhere to stop! She needs a hospital!” He responded.
Dad accelerated. I raised my head to see Mum giving him a hard look whilst unbuckling her seat belt. Once free, she reached out for my hand again. Dad’s attention kept jumping between me and the road.
I caught the glimpse of a deer on the road moments before I heard the deafening sound of shattering glass and twisting metal. Suddenly, the world was spinning.
Each second felt like an eternity. Mum’s hand was ripped from mine, and I heard a loud scream. It took me a second to realize it was mine.
It all ended as suddenly as it started. I blinked and found myself upside down. My ears were ringing, and my vision was blurry. My forehead felt sticky, and there was pain, so much pain.
I had one saving thought.
We’re alive.
“Mum? Dad?” My tongue felt heavy, and my hands fumbled to unbuckle my seatbelt. I raised my eyes to look at the front seats when there was no answer. I forgot to brace myself and fell hard on the ground. I whimpered and stayed there for a moment. I’d never felt such excruciating pain, but I needed to see my parents. I needed to know they were all right. I crawled forward and noticed most of the windshield was missing. Mum’s seat was empty.
I turned to see Dad hanging upside down, his face was covered in blood, and he didn’t wake up when I shook him. The airbags didn’t deploy. My eyes were watering, but I still needed to find Mum. The rain kept falling hard when a bolt of lightning lit up the sky. I thought I saw her. She was next to a tree, not far from the car. I forced myself to crawl out. I was shaking badly, but I needed to reach her.

I didn’t make it very far before I collapsed. I thought I heard leaves rustle, and another bolt of lightning revealed a silhouette. A pair of bright amethyst eyes stared back at me.
I wasn’t sure if it was real. My consciousness was fading. Still, I reached out for the humanoid shape, asking for help. The only thing that left my mouth was a dark mass with a familiar acrid smell.
I rolled over onto my back and, as the rain hit my face, I had one last thought before I surrendered to the darkness.
This is all my fault.

Sanguis
In a world inhabited by vampires, various factions are vying for dominance, whether through wars or grueling tournaments. In the midst of the conflict, two unsuspecting humans become caught in the battle. Note: My first story on here, I wanted to try writing a story with battles and leveling up, the kind of story where a character starts at the bottom and world their way up. I hope this story is a good chance to see what works and try out a few different ideas I’ve had.

Magic Squared
A world filled with magic, quite generic in outward appearance has one underlying mechanic that makes it oh so very powerful for one man, or now thing. Christopher Collins (Chris) is reincarnated into a fantasy world to regain memories of his former 19 years of life and discovers that the magic of his new world is closer to science than many realize. Follow Chris as he falls into an unfortunate series of events to become something more...or perhaps less. This will be a story of magic, blood and physics. On advisement I have changed the synopsis, originally I tried to be vague and hide the plot twist/ change so here is a disclaimer. The first 10 chapters are the buildup to the real story. I will re-write them at some point but for now, they provide a small glimpse into the story and allow for a fats bit of character progression. ⚠️ may have unexpected plot twists, the MC changes quite a bit in the first 10 chapters ⚠️ The Basics: Spoiler Magic: Yes Smartphones: No Martial Arts: Some Monsters: Yes Adventure: Yes Basic Physics: Yes Dialog Boxes: No Updates: Currently about 4 chapters a week now that I'm off my exams. Author : This is my first attempt at a fiction on RR and hope you can be lenient with me about grammar and spellings. Please point them out and i'll try to fix them ASAP for your smooth reading pleasure. Content: The MC will be powerful but not broken, he will win with intelligence and a deep understanding of how magic and physics works, this means his magic is powerful but not broken. I do not plan for Harems, or overly vertuouse MC. I will try to keep his personality as realistic as possible. NO “i will feed the world by growing potatoes shit” Notes: (I do not own the art for the cover of this novel)

Blind As a Bat [1st book complete]
Book 1 He was cast to the edges of his clan. His father could not stand to even look at him. His baby sister probably didn't even know he was her brother... All because he, unlike all other vampire (The correct terminology will be Wanpyrkos; van-peer-coe-s) kind, was born blind. And what do all creatures do to those that are different, those that do not fit society, those that they think should not have been born to this civilized society...? [Book Cover Made by the wonderful THEMIDNIGHTECLIPSE13] - thank you! I'm only introducing the perspective of the main character for the first part. Things change drastically soon after that. [BDSM entries are clearly marked and written so they can be skipped without affecting the story] ***A couple scenes to whet your palate*** 1. "Uh, we heal from pretty much everything and anything. Have you ever tried physically damaging your eyes to see if they would fully heal?" "N-no. No, it doesn't work," I forced out, my voice a little strangled and cracking before hardening. "And stuff like that, isn't that just wrong?! Hurting someone just to 'fix' them." 2. I leaned and he met me, our soft lips touching and moving perfectly on each other's. I felt as his tongue ran the slit of my lips, my tongue coming to graze it as it passed over, knowing doing so was like catnip to him. He leaned closer, and I shivered as his hands ran from low on my hips and grazed along and up my ribs, pulling my chest closer to his so my body arched and rubbed against him. I hummed in appreciation. [warning: so far aggressive or physical bullying and maybe a little kidnappage and sexual themes as well as possible trigger warnings]
