《Art of Mortality》Chapter 59: Secrets of The Nine Paragon World

As Edward explained everything to Old Summer, he was even more shocked than Robert. He was so shocked that he was about to choke. After a long time, when he finally calmed down, he took a deep breath and looked at Edward. He kept looking at him without saying anything. Finally, he managed to say something.
"You should meet Old Winter one day. I'd like to see his astonished face when he finally sees a bigger cultivation maniac than him.", Old Summer said.
"I hope to meet him too. This brother of yours, he is no ordinary person."
Old Summer looked at Edward and blinked in confusion. How does Edward suddenly seem to know so much about Old Winter?
Seeing his confusion, Edward explained everything that happened after he took Old Winter's scroll from Old Summer. When Old Summer heard everything, his face first turned red the soon, it went black.
"Damn you Old Winter! To think you underestimate me so much, not telling me everything about the scroll you gave me? And you even lied about your cultivation!", He shouted in anger.
"Judging by the features of that Scroll, he was at least in the Dao Vision Realm when he left the scroll to you.", Edward said.
"That damned brother of mine was so strong? And that many years ago? Then how strong might he be now?", Old Summer said in shock.
"Most likely at the Spiritual Phantom Realm, or even higher.", Edward said.
"Even higher than the Spiritual Phantom Realm? Do you mean...?", Old Summer couldn't believe his ears.
"Yes. That is most likely the case.", he was talking about The Heavenly Wisdom Realm.
Old Summer gasped in shock. looks like he knew this martial brother of his less then he thought he did.
"By the way, how are we going to go to the Royal Capital? By foot?", Edward asked.
"No. We're going to take horses.", Old Summer said.
"How long will it take us to go by horse-ride?"
"Three days.", Old Summer said.
"Three days? Wasn't the selection supposed to start tomorrow?", Edward asked.
"The date has been changed. It will start four days from now."
"Does it have to do anything with me cutting off one of their vice-principal's arms?", Edward asked as he narrowed his eyes. If the Royal Academy really wanted a fight, he wouldn't mind giving them a taste of his powers.
"Maybe. I don't know. But it is not likely the case. They don't have the authority to delay the tournament. It must be because the Grand Sky Empire needs more time to set things up.", Old Summer explained.

"Anyway. Three days is a long time. I wouldn't want to waste that much time just by traveling.", Edward said.
"What else can we do? The horses I've managed are the fastest of its kind. The capital is more than 10, 000 miles away, you know. On top of that, the horses would need rest. We could go much faster if we went on foot, but we would also need to rest, and if we don't rest, we will be out of strength and stamina after we reach there.", Old Summer said.
"Do not worry. I have a method to reach the capital in five hours, and we won't lose our stamina even a bit", Edward said with a mysterious smile.
"Five hours? Is this some kind of joke? Even for you, such a miracle is imposs...", Old Summer couldn't finish his words before his eyes widened in shock. In front of him, he could see a giant bird appear out of nowhere.
"Is this bird made of your Qi? But I thought you said you could only give form to inanimate objects.", Robert said.
"That's true,", said Edward. "I can only create inanimate objects with my QI. The bird you are seeing is just a lifeless body. It is but an empty shell. But as I broke through to the Energy Foundation Realm, my control over the Seed of Origin Life increased. You already know that my Qi contains life energy. Although I can not give inanimate objects life with my current mastery over the Seed of Origin Life, I can give life to my Qi, turning my Qi, or a part of my Qi into a living entity. So, I can give a temporary life to this Giant Bird that I made out of my own Qi. It will be like a living thing until the life energy inside it runs out. Based on the power of my Qi and Life Energy, it can fly at a speed of 2000 miles per hour. It would take it only 5 hours to reach the Royal Capital.", Edward explained.
"Seed of Origin Life? Life Energy? What are you talking about?", Old Summer was clueless.
"It's a long story. I'll explain to you on the way.", Edward said.
"Now get on the ride!", He called as he jumped atop the Bird.
Robert and Old Summer also jumped and rode on the bird. Edward touched the head of the bird with his right hand and closed his eyes. Life energy was slowly flowing through the Bird, as its eyes shined with life.

"Chirp!", it made a crisp sound as it started flapping its wings.
"Protect yourself with your Qi, or you won't be able to take handle the speed!", Edward said.
As Edward said, both Robert and Old Summer protected themselves with layers of Qi. The wind will hit them like a hurricane when the Bird starts flying, so they needed to be prepared.
"Fwoosh!", the bird took off at a frightening speed. Before they could realize, they were above the clouds, pacing through an incredible speed towards the Royal Capital.
"Oh my god! That's insanely fast!", Robert shouted as he felt the speed.
"The hell! What kind of speed is this?", Old Summer jumped in shock.
"In my opinion, it's not very fast.", Edwards said. "The average running speed of someone at the First Level of Energy Foundation Realm is 1800 miles per hour. This bird is flying just a bit faster than that. Me, at the Second Level of the Energy Foundation realm, is as fast as someone at the Fifth Level of Energy foundation Realm, which would be a speed of 9000 miles per hour. My own flying speed is even faster though, it's about 15000 miles per hour. If I flew by myself, I could've reached the capital in less than an hour. But even that is nothing impressive. Do you know how fast Heavenly Wisdom Realm Cultivators can fly?", Edward was giving them a demonstration on the grand scale of the cultivation world.
"How fast?", both Robert and Old Summer asked at the same time, full of curiosity.
"They can fly at least 1 million miles in just one hour."
"One million? That much?" Old Summer and Robert both were so shocked that they were about to fall off from the bird, but Edward used his Qi to hold them tight.
"Yes. That much.", Edward said with a smile. "The Nine Paragon World isn't Nine planets anymore. All nine planets have been merged into one by the Ninth Paragon. This merged planet has a lot of space warps. Although the planet has a circumference # million miles, considering that space within its atmosphere is warped, as well as there are several pocket dimensions, there are more than a hundred million miles of distance between the two furthest points of this planet. So, how do you think the top cultivators of this planet travel around? It is because they are that fast!", Edward explained.
"How do you know all this?", Old Summer asked. Even Robert was shocked. Even he did not know that Edward knew this much.
"I investigated the uncrossable forest and found out a lot of things. Especially, what intrigued me was the Lake of tears, as well as the Tulip Village. These two places do not belong to this planet, They were supposed to be in the First paragon Planet of the Nine Paragon System. But the fact they are here means a part of this planet belongs to the First Paragon Planet. Also, there are several other places here that carry the legacies of several different paragons. It suggests that the other planets are also merged with this planet. So, after doing a bit of investigation, I came to the conclusion that the ninth paragon had merged all the nine planets into one before his death.", Edward explained.
"Why would the Ninth Paragon do that?", Robert asked.
"Who knows? But it is most likely he did this because he wanted the next paragon to be from the human race. After all, the merged planet is dominated by the human race. It is most likely that the other races have been driven away from this merged planet. But this was not a wise move in my opinion. Only the First Paragon was Human, and the Ninth Paragon was half-elemental half-human. The other seven Paragons were from non-human races like Demons, Angels, Giants, Elves, Dark elves, etc. They all are races that despised and fought against the humans time and time. Their Paragons must have left some powerful measures and technics before they perished, and it must've been somewhere in their planets. Now that those planets are merged along with ours, it is the same as keeping the enemy's chess pieces within our territory. Who knows that the other paragons haven't left something disastrous in their planets which could bring an end to the human race living in this merged planet? That's why I think what the Ninth Paragon did was stupid. This also gives the other races excuses to attack this merged planet as they can claim that their Paragons' legacies are here. They can also secretly infiltrate to retrieve those legacies and use those legacies to destroy the planet from within. Who knows what may come?", Edward explained.
As they heard Edward's explanations, they wondered about the possibilities of the other seven Paragons' legacies unraveling themselves, destroying mankind within this merged planet. As they thought about it, they shivered.

To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted.
