On a vast planet, at the very center, all the lands formed a single, large continent. The continent was circular and had a radius of millions of miles. All kinds of people, monsters, demons, and beasts lived there. There were thousands of countries and many martial schools, powerful sects, and grand empires. Over time, the continent was divided into eastern, western, northern, southern, and central regions, which then came to be known as five different continents.
At this moment, at the very center of the central continent, in the domain of a certain powerful clan, an old man was standing inside a very tall tower, gazing at the night sky filled with stars. His gaze contained unique flickers of wisdom as if he could read something out of the seemingly vast and chaotic night sky.
"The time is near", said the old man. His voice was deep and heavy.
"The Primal Crown is about to form once again. This time, it'll be ours.", he said with conviction. Then he turned in the direction of a middle-aged man standing nearby.
"So, how is our little prodigy doing?", he asked the middle-aged man.
"Young master Julian is doing fine, ancestor. He has become more adept at using the gifts of his Perfect Yang Body. Now, if only we can get the young princess of the Pisces Clan as his dao partner, it would be perfect. It is known that she has the Absolute Yin Body. Only by being with her can our young master gain the harmony of absolute yin and yang, gaining a godly physique never seen before. If we succeed, there will be no one from the younger generation who can challenge him in the battle for the primal crown.", the middle-aged man replied.
"Well then, I'll personally go and make a marriage proposal to the Pisces Clan, and knowing that it is our young prodigy, they surely won't refuse.", said the old man, with a confident look in his eyes.

"Many thanks, ancestor.", the middle-aged man replied. After that, he bowed and left the tower.
The old man once again gazed at the horizon. For quite a while, he has been getting an ominous feeling. As if something deep and immeasurable is lurking around out there. Will his plan fail? No, it can't be! They are one of the strongest forces in the entire world, and their young prince is the greatest prodigy in history. Surely they can't lose the battle for the Primal Crown, can they?...

All sorts of games have come and gone over the years, rising and falling with each advance in VR technology and the ever-increasing power of the Artificial Intelligence's that control them. But now a new actor has taken to the stage. Solar Dynamics, Inc. has unveiled not only the first fully immersive 'deep' Dive Pod, but their flagship game puts all other VR games to shame. Universe Online. No longer are players stuck on a single large world to explore. No longer is there a limit to what you can do, what you can be. Fly spaceships across the universe, conquer planets, create custom technology. Mine, Build, Destroy. Explore. Rule. Do you have what it takes the control the Universe? I'm going to do my best to find out! -NOTE: This story is MATURE, and such has graphic fight scenes, blood and gore. Also cursing. Quite a bit of that in some cases. MANTIS: On Hiatus
Two young adults who were childhood friends are killed amidst a pandemic worse than our own. After many years apart, Rihelah was on her way to see Michael, hoping to rekindle their friendship on the day they would both lose their lives. The pair are unwittingly selected to represent Earth in a test set forth by godlike beings who are intrigued that our world gave rise to complex life without having been intentionally seeded by their kind. Michael and Rihelah are reincarnated as predatory insects upon a distant planet called Edon. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and their kin, Goblins, Ogres, Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and sapient arthropods known as Enkelyn all inhabit this beautiful world touched by magic. The tiny mantids must survive terrified and very much alone upon arrival, while neither is aware that the other has also been reincarnated upon the same island. Naked in their new chitinous exoskeletons, they must now brave the terrors of an alien world's food chain. Each will benefit from their years of experience on Earth, but they must somehow find a balance between old lives and new. Moderate mindsets and peaceful values from a mostly safe and privileged life on Earth must now contend and somehow coexist with the strange physiology of a new and unfamiliar body as well as the violent aggressiveness of a predator's mind. To top things off, the pair are about to find themselves struggling with their inner turmoil while swept up by terrible conflicts they know nothing about. Both endure the hardships of their new lives while attempting to understand and make proper use of a mysterious and terse video-game-like System that pops status notifications into their vision from time to time, but initially has no useful interface. Some of the options they are presented with sound enticing, but as with everything else in life, each choice has benefits and drawbacks... Author's Note: This story makes many changes to the original version, and readers of Mantid will find that many things in Mantis are new and different; especially after the first few chapters. I've learned a ton from writing like a madman, and also from the RR community. I appreciate you guys! :)

Evan stood on a hill, staring calmly at the gate of his former clan. A crowd waited behind him, some eyeing the clan in an unresigned manner, others looking at their spiritual support. Some of the young children shivered at the gnawing cold. Wind howled in his ears, seemingly deploring his fate. A silvery cloud drifted over the mountains surrounding the compound. The roar of a river could be heard from underneath its frozen surface. He had reincarnated many years ago. Hailed as a prodigy from his youngest age, Evan had seemingly tread on a path to invincibility. He had gotten married with his childhood sweetheart and had cultivated with a group of friends, forming a considerable power of his own. Yet now, here he was, devoid of any path to move forward, with his energy locus destroyed. His wife was dead and his branch had been kicked out of the clan. He looked at his progeny that had been entrusted to him. The baby seemed content in his father’s strong arms, too young to understand anything but the warmth of the father’s beating heart. Signaling to the people behind him, he turned around and the procession gradually disappeared in the distance, as the sun gradually set and the stars acted as a guide. --- Author-san here. All her hopes rest on the assumption that he in an unwitting dupe of the true enemy, but lurking at the back of her mind is the fear that he may be all too aware of the truth, that he may have sold out humanity for the promise of personal power. If this is true, then all that awaits her at the end of her journey through fear and danger is imprisonment and the life of a hostage to be used against her father, King Leothan. The Brigadier would help her if he could, but he and Malone, his former batman, are far away, each having their own missions to try and ensure the survival of human civilisation. Having completed his latest task, the Brigadier must race to join her, to assist and protect her, but will he reach her before she arrives at the palace of the enemy King? And will the Princess still have a country to be Princess of by the time she arrives there? Because even if Helberion manages to defeat the all conquering armies of Carrow there is another, even deadlier threat waiting in the wings against which there may be no defence... This is volume three of the Ontogeny series. If you haven't read volume one, Ontogeny, and volume Two, The Electric Messiah, you should read them first.
