《Slime migration》Chapter 9: Pay back

Kip unsummoned his slime, he needed to rush after all. And his mana has almost recovered back to full. Who knows if the hostage will still be alive after today. Rubbing the strong herb on his body, he steeled his resolve.
Since the Uromeck trail was opposite from this base, he need to get back to where the bus is first. He hoped that Miss Chloe got away, and isn’t one of the one captured. Even if she is, Kip will definitely save her. He brought only his slingshot and ammo along with him. He still needed a close range weapon, so he hoped he will find what he needed at the bus.
If not, he’ll just make one from branches. Albeit risky, but he didn’t have much of a choice. After running nonstop for a while, Kip realised he was not tired just yet. This must have due to him levelling up. “Character stat” he said out loud

Bubble was quite strong after. Her attack potential is three time compare to Kip. He will need to rely heavily on her if he wanted this rescue to succeed.
Arriving at the buses, he proceeds to find an appropriate weapon. It was by luck that he found it, the steel frame on the back window was slash into pieces by Uromeck attacks. He selected a suitable piece, seemingly around 20 cm with extremely sharp and pointy ends. He wraps some bandage that he found on one end, and make himself a makeshift knife. The Uromeck claw must have been so deadly to cut through steel frame easily like that.
It was midday when the temperature was at the highest of that day. A lone boy can be seen walking through the forest, his eyes resolute and contained a little killing intent. That boy was Kip of course, following Uromeck trail back to their base. “They must be very confidence in their strength” he thought, not even making an attempt to at least cover or direct their track somewhere else.

He has already used foreshadow to confirm that this was the monster trail before he started. He only has two question left today, he must save it for the fight in a little bit. He soon arrived at a rocky area. A large circular area was being elevated on top of the ground. It was as if dirt just came together to push the ground up forming a huge platform or stage for the Uromecks to build their village.
Kip could see the village surrounded by large trees acting as the fence, the leaves were giving out the same smell as the loot he collected yesterday, although a bit milder. “So this is how they find their way back to base, the beacon of smell also acted as a barrier, since other monster probably don’t like that scent. He was reminded of the time where the attacking ferret did not bite the area the herb was exposed to on his body. What was strange about the village was that there were many little huts erected separated onto three areas. Kip was quite interested to see how their society work, even though his purpose today was getting rid of them. He used his remaining foreshadow question to test for the Uromeck defence.
“Are there trap around this base?” No
“Are all Uromeck asleep”? Yes
He was relief to see that is the case. It indeed turns out that those monster really are nocturnal, and they must be really confidence that they won’t be attacked that they assign no sentry. Choosing one of the tree area where the tree was densest. He proceeds to enter the Uromeck camp.
Closely sneaking, he arrived to an area where there were a total of 10 huts and a large platform outside. The huts were quite small and far away from each other. On the platform, there were around 20-30 sleeping Uromeck, snoring loudly in their sleep. What, why are they all out here. So who is living on each of the hut? Kip was confused. He summoned bubbles, and peek his head into the farthest hut away from the platform.
Inside, was a sleeping Uromeck. It seemed to be a female, judging from the cover on its chest. Aside from that, it looks no difference from its opposite gender. Kip inhale a large breath, and put his plan in motion. From what he can gather, Uromeck weak point are pretty much the same as human. They lose too much blood and they die. They get stab and they die. It’s just that their agility and deadly sharp claw make it hard for anything to even get near them. Not to mentioned their keen sense of smell and hearing, and inhumane reaction speed.

But Kip thought of a perfect execution plan, and only he would be able to do it. Or to be precise, only Bubble could do it. He ordered her to quickly devoured the sleeping monster, starting from its head. The Uromeck was sleeping peacefully, only to awake feeling pain all over its head. It tried to scream but something was stuffing its mouth, burning and destroying the inside. Its senses were all mess up. It couldn’t see, hear or smell anything. All that exist was incredible pain, and it couldn’t be get resolved no matter what.
The Uromeck uses its claw to push away the slime, but pass harmlessly through the liquid; only to harm itself in the process. Kip was quite happy; his hypothesis was right after all. The slime is truly Uromeck nemesis. Although being incredibly weak to soundwave, they were invulnerable to physical and elemental damage. Sneaking to the back of the panicking Uromeck, he used his tube knives and stab it the creature head. Just one stab, and it was over. The Uromeck felt flat on its front, dead. Cleaning his knives, he instructs Bubble to digest the corpse for experience.
Since he was the one that dealt the killing blow, he got a lot of experiences. By the time the sun was almost setting, he cleared around 30 huts in two areas of the Uromeck camp, ignoring the sleeping monsters that were lying outsides on 2 different platforms. He was level 9 now, and his slime was level thirteen. He invested all his stat point into strength and speed, a few into vitality and intelligence as well since he gained some extra stat while dealing with the sleeping Uromeck.
He noticed that the monster sleeping in the hut were mostly female or stronger male Uromeck that needed two to three head stab to die. It seems stronger individual are allow separate resting area away from the rest. He also discovers two warehouse in both of the two area he cleared. One seemed to be where the monster process their herb, and another was where they stored and created clothing and coming of age ring that he picked up.
Being this organised for a monster creeped Kip out. They seem so humane despite being cannibals. He pickpocketed a few rings. The sun was almost setting now. He was clearing out the huts in the final monster area where he noticed a different. There were 2 warehouse in this area. He peeked into one of them, albeit that, he could make out a few sleeping shadow. There was a giant Uromeck sleeping on a makeshift bed from animal fur, which was the most luxurious one he has seen in this camp so far. Next to the male monster was several female Uromeck.
It seems that this was the tribe leader or boss of the entire camp. Kip swallowed his saliva. The boss was nothing short of a demon. It’s one eyed was closed, but you can feel the intense leader aura permeating from its skin. It was twice the size of a normal Uromeck, with bulging muscle and veins compared the thin stature of its kind. Its claw was covered in a thin layer of red, reflecting Kip image when he looked at them. Unlike how most Uromeck was green, this one skin was a dark shade of purple.
Looks like he can’t recklessly challenge the boss yet. Ignoring the monster outside, even if he manages to kill the boss, It’s female companions will surely deal the finishing blows back to him. Not to mentioned, although he didn’t spend much time killing individual Uromeck, his stamina has dropped to about a third. And although he didn’t hear any of the monster talk before he finishes them, his Convert: Uromeck was level 3 now. He wondered if muffled voice counted.
Ignoring the boss camp for now, he waited for bubble to finish the remaining corpse while he entered to last warehouse. What awaited him was a scene he was glad Raven and Hazel weren’t there to witness with him. The last warehouse was where the Uromeck process and stored their food; in short, a slaughter house. There was human and animal corpse hanging from the ceiling, blood dripping and chunk of flesh missing. Kip wanted to vomit, he has cold sweat on his hand and gripped his make ship tube knife which was now stained with red monster blood.
It looks like he was too late, there were no survivor to be found here, everyone has already been killed last night when they were brought back. They were strip naked and a bundle of white uniform can be found in the corner of the warehouse. Kip searched desperately amongst the clothes, but was relief to find none of Chloe there, which mean she might had escaped. With that done, he ordered his slime to devour everything in this room. Although she was levelling a lot slower now, she was three time as strong before they entered the camp. A few final Uromeck were melted by Bubble before Kip could even deal the killing blow.
“I’ll be back you damned race of monster” Kip said silently in his heart before leaving silently into the setting sunlight, with bubble quickly following behind.

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Not Another Isekai RPG Story Alternate
The story ends at Alternate Route Finale. Ch 2-2 and on can be treated as Extra Chapters. I still hadn't edited that one and it's low on priority. I may come back to it if I'm in the mood. Most of the portions of the story will NOT focus on the skills, stats, grinding or battles. More about the dialogues (or the internal monologues) and the MC interacting with the world (or glitching, if you name it.). ... With parts of his memory lost, Takeshi, a 25-year old lazy office worker was transported to a game world. Using his casual knowledge on video-game mechanics, join Takeshi's journey as he discover more about the world, his companions and himself. (only if you're interested though.) My personal review: from ch-2 on expect a lot of perversion going on. It can be pretty weird, like the MC want to be a girl and Y*ri other girls, Fut*nari folks, Traps, the mention of t*ntacle monsters and some lulzy display (like shoving a morning star up someone's b*tthole in retaliation). In here, the MC will discover new things as he kept on exploring and trying different stuff. This story will mostly be character-driven. Explanations about the world and its mechanics was kept to a minimum. The MC's on the shameless side with not much real-life common sense (maybe) and he's (probably) not righteous at all. The other characters can be pretty weird as well. It won't focus on romance. Well that's about it.

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter. This story isn't a full length novel--its a novella length work (25K words), and is part of my Yancy Lazarus series. Its already free on Amazon, so I thought I'd post chapters here for the good folks of Royal Road.
