《Rebuilding the Sun Kingdom!》Chapter 5: Divine Boons and Divine Gifts!

"Yes!" Answered Berg. "Actually all races have one divine boon and their king one divine power!"

[So it's not a cheat, everyone gets one... Tch.] Chris felt a little disappointed but his curiosity took over. "How come every race has one?"

"Actually I would be more accurate in saying that every race backed by a god has theirs. For example we humans were created by goddess Ariadne so she granted ours, the Kunalls received theirs from their own god Trarios, the Dragons from their goddess Miesga, the Razor Hides from their god Arsates and so on. "

Berg stopped a moment to gather his thoughts and continued. "According to legends, all of the main races of Aenides experienced three major steps. The first step was "Creation." The gods got together and created the world. They filled it with flora and fauna but eventually grew bored. That's when they each decided to create their own race. And so we were born.

The second step was the "Boon". It started hundreds, perhaps even thousands of year after Creation, it was said that each civilization grew and tribes became villages and villages became cities. One god was worried as his own race was underperforming and gave it a boon. All the other gods followed suit and granted one boon to their own race.

And finally the third and most recent step the "Divine King." As cities eventually became Kingdoms, conflicts grew between the races. Sometimes it was over borders, sometimes resources or even technologies... Some races even had internal conflict over leadership. The gods grew worried for their children and gave them one last gift. The true ruler of each civilization would receive one gift from their god, thus ensuring a clear ruler and preventing civil strife.

At least that's how the legend goes."

[Well, that makes sense, that little god sure seemed worried about her humans. She wouldn't have brought me here otherwise... Wait didn't she break the rules by doing so?]

"Do you know what the different boons and powers are?" Chris was actually quite curious about this.

"I do know a few... Unfortunately my knowledge isn't as extensive as I would like it to be. Our kingdom wasn't doing well even before the Kunall's attack... So we had limited outside contacts."

"Well, go on." Said Chris

"The Kunalls received"Battle strength" from Trarios. He was the one that granted a boon first. The Kunalls used to walk on four hooves, they were intelligent, but their bodies could not take advantage of their minds and they barely managed to survive in the wild. So Trarios granted them "Battle Strength", as the boon took effect, they slowly started walking upward, their front hooves changed to hold weapons and their bodies grew tougher and thicker."

[What a smart god, he granted one boon but it had multiple effects...]

Then their king received the gift "Battle Rage" a very powerful ability. It temporarily strip away their intelligence and enrages the soldiers. This is what they used for their mad dash to our capital."

"The Razor Hides are a special case. They are the only god created races that had no intelligence at first. So Arsates gave them intelligence. They are one of the last to receive their boon, I remember our scholars argue on wether the Razor Hides already received the full effect of their boon and could already understand us and communicate with us but chose not to."

"So the boons are not activated directly?" Asked Chris.

"Once a boon is granted it will manifest a little bit more in each new generation until it reaches full potency" Answerd Berg."As for the Razor Hides' divine gift... I don't know, we have never been in direct conflict with them."

"The Elves received 'Elemental Attunement', which improved their magic capacity, their summonings and their relationship with another divine race, the Fairies who are heavily dependent on the elements. Since then fighting against one of those races means fighting both. Unfortunately, I do not know what the fairies boon or theirs and the elves, divine gift is..."

"The last divine race I have info on, is the Dragon Race, this is the most well know boon on the continent, or at least in the human kingdom, they received... "Immortality" from Miesga.

"What?" Chris couldn't believe it. "They can't be killed?!"

"They still can Sire! They are still vulnerable to wounds and diseases but they will never die of old age, not even gods can give complete immortality to a whole race! "

As Chris kept listening to Berg he noticed his hands were getting sweaty. Those were all incredible boons. He'd be very satisfied with almost any of them!

"And then there is our boon."

Hearing this Chris felt his excitement rise higher. "Y-yes?"

"According to legends, it all started with a fight between Ariadna and another god."

[Where are all those legends coming from? Are they all real? Is there a blabbermouth amongst the gods?] Chris was puzzled.

"At the high of the dispute, the other god said the humans were merely smelly monkeys that were not worth looking at... This seemed to really offend Ariadne as she really loves humanity. So the next day she granted us our boon..."

"Yes... Yes?" Chris couldn't contain his excitement anymore and was breathing hard."

Berg hesitated, he didn't want to burst his king's excitement.

"W-we don't smell bad..."

"Huh?"

"Ariadne announced that she would never let anyone say her babies smelled bad... And then she made it so that no matter what we do, others races will not be able to smell us..."

BAM!

Chris forgot all his restraint and fell down on all four!
