《Experimental Dungeon Novel》Additional Factors

Congratulations, due to your negative mana recovery and your tutorial completion time (#NaN) you have been drafted into a random dungeon war! Fight for your survival, or be devoured as resources.
Hidden in a hole on the first floor of it’s five-floor dungeon, adventurers just now entering the dungeon, at zero mana, and in the only pathway to the second floor, a black gem slowly flakes to pieces next to the uncontrolled creature holding it hostage.
“Oh fuck.”
“Language.”
“Oh scheiße.”
“Ok, what?”
“I just got a notification that I’ve been drafted into a Dungeon War due to poor performance.”
“Oof, too bad. Will that affect your availability for the trade partnership?”
“Depends on whether you can fulfill your end of the deal.”

Through a vitrified tunnel, the adventurers come across a room with locked doors, chests, and an altar in the center of the space. The three of them cautiously approach the center, finding it to be a stone slab indented with shapes and surrounded by writing; ‘Sword stretched toward the sun, the adventurers split their focus to destroy the foe they most suit.’
“Puzzles,” states Shooty grimly.
“Don’t panic,” replies Stabby, gesturing toward the tunnel entrance, “this place wasn’t here last week, so the puzzles can’t be that difficult. It takes time for dungeons to build up, and this is the first room. Basically an introduction to what the place is about.”
“I bet the things that go in the slots are in the chests,” Smashy contributes.
Adventurers weren’t always the smartest when comparing them to the random monsters they fought, like slimes, goblins, and kobolds, but most of them could figure out to put the square box into the square hole.

“They’re puzzle chests,” Shooty moans morosely.

Outside the sealed stone double doors of the dungeon, the two creatures were on the top of the slope next to the body, but still not doing anything about it.
“All I’m saying is that we haven’t been explicitly told to fix this human.”
“And all I’m saying is that it costs me absolutely nothing to do it. If we get ordered to do it after we’ve wandered off somewhere, we have to walk back up that slope.”
“It does too cost you something. You don’t regenerate as effectively when you’ve got the field up, anyone could shoot you in the face and anti-life you.”
“Like who? There’s no one around to shoot me. Unless you’re planning on it.”
“And how would you know I’m not? Anyone could shoot anyone at any time for no reason whatsoever.”
“At least I know you don’t have a weapon right now. You’d be begging for healing if you did.”
“Unfair using logic to determine I’m not aiming for your existence. These kinds of arguments are for emotion and fallacies only.”
The first creature decides to use an emotional response to that, and smacks the other upside the head. An energy flows out from its entire being, and the body the two were bickering over has its wounds start to seal shut.

Back in the altar room, Shooty stares at the contents of the ruined chests. Smashy had a most expedient method of solving the puzzle chests, that being his hammer, but the results were less than heartening.
“Why are there five of each shape?”

Errant
Amateur fighter Kestril only remembers two things about her mother's disappearance: a locket and the promise she made to keep her brother safe. That promise is all she thinks of when she jumps in front of a car to save her brother. She expects death, but instead wakes up to a looming clock tower, cobblestone streets, and dead soldiers wearing lockets just like her mother's. Kess's locket marks her as one of the Errant- people with control over dimensions and time, and the same people rumored to have captured her brother across the city. When a military group mistakes Kess for their enemy, she swears allegiance at gunpoint, hoping to search for her brother from within. Inside, Kess finds an even darker side of the city bent on killing the Errant-using any means necessary. When the murder of an important Errant soldier throws the city further into civil war, Kess uncovers a plot that could undo everything she's fought for so far. The only problem? Her brother is at the head of it. Trapped between her promise to her mother and her morals, Kess finds little use for her theatrical brawling of the past. She can only hope to find her brother before it's too late. || Update: 4/24/2022 Have decided to rewrite this novel, but will continue to post chapters of this draft, possibly with commentary. I Have Even Read the Rulebook!
As all stories begin, Prof died. Yes, truck-kun had something to do with that, but also a bird, a cat and some rebar. When he was presented with with the opportunity in the Afterlife Administration Bureau to be transmigrated into a game-like fantasy world, he did something, no one ever did: he read the Rulebook. Follow Prof on his road to be rich without working, touring a whole new world without a care and witness his realisation, that despite having read the Rulebook the folks living with the System for untold millennia know more about the rules. Important notes: 1, I'm not a native speaker, so be prepared for occassional typos, iffy grammar and maybe awkward sentences. The spell check was running, when I wrote the chapters, but it works in strange ways... If you point out mistakes, I will try to correct them 2, Scheduling will be two chapters a week, posted Saturdays before noon (CET). Depending on how much new chapters I can write consistently there will be probably more but as long as I have leftover chapters, the two per week will be posted no matter what. Chapters will be around 1500-2500 words as MS Word counts it. 3, I did not and will not post this novel on another site, if you find it somewhere else, please inform me 4, The Main Character's progression is slow, there will be no Levels, Skills, Abilities, Feats, Perks and Cheat Powers raining down on him 5, I've put Comedy as a genre because of my writing style not because the novel is a comedy per se. On the other hand, Traumatising Content is there because there is a lot of speciesism - those Elves are not nice people. 6, I put a lot of pop-cultural references into the chapters, try to find them! Enjoy!
