Dear self,
Vamera became largely fluent in speaking last night. We can now properly communicate. The reason she created this dreamscape between me and Rahph is because of her attempts at recreating a domain for herself. Without a domain she holds no power within Materiality or otherwise. She had been drawn in by Tori at first, because he has an affinity for dependent manifestation that would be ideal for an asura like her. That would not have gone over well if she had succeeded, especially with how young Tori is still. Luckily Tori is very much under the aegis of the master enchantress Umari so Vamera had no hope of stealing that child from under his mother.
I was the next best thing. I have a slight affinity towards happenstance, which is often the opposite of fortuitous, but it was related enough that Vamera could create lesser resonance between our subtle bodies. To create the dreamscape necessary in reconstructing her domain she needed a second bonding however. Which is why Rahph was roped in. There is no way to construct a domain within just my subtle body, so she needed to bond with a second individual to create enough space between them to form this domain.
How she got past my defences was simple. A few days back when my disruption Incuria burst that little bird glamour and freed Rahph from his confinement temporarily, there was a miniscule window where my aegis was disrupted, and she could slip through into my subtle body. The time I had spent with Rahph physically as well as that disruption cloud made it easy to create a bond between me and Rahph that she could bridge between. Rahph is primarily bonded to me, even though I had never intended to bond with him. Vamera is only bonded to Rahph through her bond to me, which was very indirect for something so crucial in what she achieved. It just makes me realise that she really is an immortal asura, the moment of disruption she is referring to must have been incredibly small, and I do not think I have even heard of anyone even from the Mysterium who might be capable of that, no one except gods and monsters.

I did get some Fortuitous essence out her during the dream, which would be useful in a lot of rituals especially. It the very thing that can lift an attempt the last span towards reaching success. I tried to discourage Rahph from digging at the roots of the big tree. It’s one of the most distinctive things in the dream so I would prefer to keep it if possible and not have him burn it to a husk or something dreaming of food.
The ethereal sack and the enchanted compass were easy to deal with this morning. The compass took the longest to analyse fully because of how intricate it is, but I had them both sealed and returned to their owners when noon came. I worked on how the evasion cloak augments my aura when I wear it. Passively it makes my presence seem less notable and gives a mysterious vibe to my aura to anyone that pays attention to me. When I think about it the cloak seems capable of interpreting my intent accurately and lets my presence be noticeable as normal if I so wish, or only for specific people. I might be harder to include larger multiples of individuals in the inclusion intent, and with larger inclusion of groups it may become easier and easier for unintended persons to also be included in on my presence. It might be useful to talk to a single person in a crowd without being noticed easily. The sense of mystery is irrepressible though, and even the people I have concluded in the aura seem to sense the odd vibe no matter what I do. Even when my presence is being suppressed people seem to feel like they are being watched or that there is something mysterious nearby without even needed to notice me directly.

The displacement glamour seems related to the strength of the aura effect, with the glamour image of me becoming more noticeable as I become less so and vice versa. Tori says it feels like I am teleporting around him when I am switching the aura between my real self and the glamour standing next to him. I had some fun letting him chase me around and he kept catching the illusion of me instead until he caught on a trick to sense illusions. He became a lot better at catching me when he started focusing more on sensing than chasing. The next step will be to improve the phasing ability of the cloak and try to make the glamour more tangible. Eventually the glamour illusion and the wearer’s true self would be interchangeable physically as well as in terms of their presence.
We prepared another divination ritual with the group of wizards. We made it larger this time and integrated more ritualistic elements to help guide the spell and to integrate it somewhat with the ambient NIghtgloom essence. The Solacium already reacts somewhat negatively to most eldritch existences so with the Nightgloom from the previous ritual related to Outer beings this is the best we’d be able to do without a dedicated diviner or a targeted invocation.
I also contributed the small essence of Fortuity I received from the dream with Vamera, and happily it wasn’t consumed in the ritual, so I still have some. Unlike yesterday the spell actually worked. In fact, it worked twice. Two of the wizards can now sense a tether towards a location to the north-east. It might not be an exact coordinate but we’re using them as reference points to triangulate the exact location. We couldn’t just approach either because the divination would have gotten more inaccurate the longer we waited from the time of the ritual, and generalised divinations like this one tend to become less accurate as they approach their target. We are currently packing some items that might be useful well we arrive at the site. We’re dealing with an Interloper as well as a Rift, and those do tend to make the other a worse problem to have when they are in proximity.
I really don’t want to find out there are any more Rifts or monsters or anything after we finally finish dealing with this.
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.
