21st Light beneath the eleventh Moon
3761 Cycles beyond the Dark
722 Years after the Repentance
Entry: 1/041
Dear self,
I was back in that dream. Rahph was in his hole with only the end of his head sticking out of the ground, much as I had dreamt him last. I’m beginning to have some suspicion of his continued presence in my dreams. The rock with the sun hovering over it transformed back into the endless mountain when I tried approaching.
Instead of wandering into the surrounding wilds I decided to inspect Rahph’s little hole. It also grew sizably with my approach, but instead of being endless it merely developed into a cavern mouth towering over me with Rahph himself dwarfing me with an imperious glare. He did not seem all that welcoming, but I approached anyway.
He hissed at me like a cat, but since I knew it was a dream I ignored his threat. He spewed a slew of burning ember all over me.
It didn’t burn, and after glaring at me covered in his expulsion for a moment Rahph calmed down and let me by peacefully. It eas dark in the underground beyond. Cold, dark, and lightless.
We spent the morning pouring through our inventory of items, searching for anything that might be useful against an interloper from an outer plane. Our plan was that I would bind the Voidbringer with a cantrip when I spotted it, and then we would prepare a concerted spell to imprison the creature. Sensing it back to where it came from might be a little difficult after we purged the connection it slipped through, but we are mostly focusing on devising an Opus that might actually contain the thing. Something that can travel through such a limited tether is bound to be adept at escaping confinement.

We sent a request to the Guild for support. We might get some actual help if anyone happens to be nearby but we’ll be sent some advisement at the least even for a minor incident like this one.
Evasive creatures like this Voidbringer have a significantly reduced risk of causing self propagating hazards, and Voidbringers tend to create problems that consume themselves through their own damage rather than spreading them widely. It getting to that wild rift would have some prominent local detriments however.
The evasion cloak at the least is working out splendidly. The wondrous body might even finish developing a little early so that I can start working on the Opus soon to define its effects. Enchanters don’t normally place a lot of interest in the Opus over the workings, but this item will be requiring some complex constructs and a precise spell design. In my other work I let the constructs arise more naturally than I will be doing here.
We’re thinking of letting Tori be taken care of by someone in town while we track down that Voidbringer. Tomorrow is the closest time we can perform any significant ritual to deal with the entity or to track it down, so we can’t waste a few days or we’ll lose our most opportune time to resolve everything. There might even be several other entities who traveled through the communion artefact to some extent before it was brought to the shop a few days ago.
Hope we fare well.
Regards,
Me.
