Dear self,

A man came in with another one of the enchanted items I’m being held responsible for. It was a protection charm against spiritual influences. The Aarthrium is wearing off later today but I was still in a bad condition to take risks in. Mother had to handle the sealing in my stead after I did a superficial appraisal. It’s a sturdy enchantment rather than a delicate one so the examination was a simplistic process.

Anora and I planned our search for the rift out a little more. The initial signature of the rift has spread across the surrounding areas which suggests it must have been opened violently. This is good news in terms of how easy it would be to close, but it also means that it will be hard to find as the echoes of its creation have already started warping and dispersing into the ambient mana. We’ve a,ready found a tendency towards the west and south, but I suggested scouting further west as that is the region where I found the Darcinderaht lurking the most, and there were were more Dawdlium growing in that region than usual. Dawdlium does not have as much affinity with life and nature and is normally rarer or grows in places where powerful spells had been cast without proper grounding, so its growth might have been caused by the rift opening.

With the lady folk out in the woods it falls to me to give Tori his lessons on glyphs. It might be a good thing that he’s smart but it annoys me tremendously when he gets everything right the first couple of questions and then just starts getting bored and loses focus. I need to actively try tricking him into making mistakes to get him to properly give the work attention. He would look so offended every time I said he got an answer wrong! It might have been evil but I just felt good when I get to point out his flaws.

We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if you have recovered from the Aarthrium without any complications. We owe Mother a lot of money and so you should start working on a lot more enchantments very soon. The only issue is that suspension we still need to resolve.
