6th Light beneath the eleventh Moon

3761 Cycles beyond the Dark

722 Years after the Repentance

Entry: 1/023

Dear self,

Today came at me bright and early! The headache got me out of bed before the sun rose, and I spent a restless morning needlessly cleaning the house while everyone slept. I think only Vaeril and our father are morning people, so the rest of us like to hiss and claw at anything that tries getting us out of bed normally.

Anora got up first and came down grumbling with her eyes still closed and her hair stuck to her face. Tori came right after that but he was eager to wake Mother as always and they came down together. I have never heard of a child that didn’t have the energy of Dawn in them.

Business was becoming more regular again with the esteemed enchantress Umari returned to her shop. Missus Quaen came in with her sewing needles. She suspected they were becoming less ethereal as they might have actually poked someone recently and there was a minor pricking involved. The ethereal needles are supposed to be fully intangible for anything other than the fingers gripping them and the cloth they pierce through. It avoids worry for injury and the chatter goes that it makes the sewing easier as well. Mother had me appraise them as it was the only actual work I could do with the Aarthrium still in me. The working had been nicked somehow and the magic was leaking out. This suggested it was damaged through contact with a separate enchanted item or something ethereal. Quaen said it might have been a few enchanted button she was working on a while back and Mother quizzed me on how we might prevent the same issue. I also gave Quaen some advise to avoid using items that hadn’t been rated to work with other enchanted objects.

After noon I was left alone with Tori as Mum and Anora went out dowsing for where the Fortuity shard had come from. He and I played with the enchanted blocks that had been in the family since me and Vaeril were two Cycles old. Each of the sides of the blocks were attuned to some Aspect and would attach or repel other blocks if the facets were complementary or oppositional. Tori and I had some inane fun stacking them as high as possible and trying to create a floating island of blocks between a couple of angular twisting spires. Making the island spin kept ending in disaster after a few revolutions and it would edge towards one side and crumble into one of our towers.

Tori was also eager to feed the Darcinderaht, who is now named Rahph, and I had to keep him from bothering the poor critter too much. He was still sick from the cold Aspect in his system but the charcoal helped. He was getting concerningly tame with the way he mewled at me with those snake eyes every time I brought his food.

Tomorrow you’ll have to look at the herb garden and see if the plants need any more preparations for winter. The house magic is usually left to me while the protective wards have always been done by Mum, so I know all about the mystical secrets of chores. You will have to wait to properly do anything other than plan though, as we don’t want to throw a dice and see if any Incuria that shows up with us casting magic might mutate into something beneficial or not. Incuria is the leading cause of failed spells in neophyte mages for a good reason, and not all of them are impermanent.

Hope we fare well.

Regards,

Me.
