Entry: 2/014 - Darcinderaht

Dear self,

The Darcinderaht is a powerful reptile with strong affinities towards fire and ash. A healthy Darcinderaht is capable of spewing a cone of sparks and embers to ignite predators and scare off rivals. They tend towards impressive weight for their size and have an incredibly tough hide.

They are herbivorous, as they prefer finding enchanted plants and turning them to ash so as to infuse the magical essences with fire aspects and aid in their absorption. An adult Darcinderaht will grow throughout its life if it is fed in abundance and older specimens have been known to exceed a span in height alone.

A Darcinderaht will have a strong aversion to cold and will sicken if exposed to elemental cold regularly or when consuming anything with a strong aspect of cold. When becoming ill they will gain an intense fever and will behave erratically. Such Darcinderaht will be unusually aggressive and might behave strangely and in contradiction to their normal nature. If they become very sick their appetite will increase while their ember attack weakens with their lessening fever, and they will also run or hide more often than trying to defend themselves. Most illnesses might easily be fought off by bathing the creature in hot ash and regular exposure to strong sunlight.

They are prized for their ember breath, which is infused with a daylight aspect from their tendencies towards sunbathing. There are also several kingdoms that use components of the Darcinderaht in cultural rituals, which has contributed to their gradual decline and their current endangerment.
