25th September 2017.
In an underground military Facility somewhere in Japan. It was situated in a restricted area where no citizen could trespass, the place was littered with hidden cameras every few meters, some buried under the earth and others at the top of thick trees.
It was currently midnight but the people working inside didn't care about that as it mattered not the time of the day since they never left this place.
There were several floors in this facility, each had its own workers and each specialized in something. At the deepest floor, where there were very few workers and only military soldiers were present, there were some rooms that were reinforced with steel doors and iron walls to keep whoever inside without any means of breaking out of it.
The numbers of military soldiers were mind-numbing, at least a hundred was guarding the place with fully loaded rifles, god knows what they are afraid to express such cautiousness, nonetheless, no soldier dared slack off or drop his or her guard off.
Each of these rooms that were basically no different from prison cells were occupied by all types of prisoners, you could even hear hysterical laughter or painful wails coming from there.
Actually, all people imprisoned here were top-class criminals that were blacklisted from the majority of the countries, which is why the security is so strict, these prisoners were not normal as most of them were psychopaths and insane, they wouldn't hesitate to cut their hands to escape from this hellish facility.
In addition to torturing these criminals, the people here also experiment on these convicts and of course, these experiments were kept hidden from the public eye lest a civil war arises.
In one of these gloomy rooms, where the security is tighter than any other place, there was a dozen of soldiers inside coupled with a tall middle-aged man wearing a military outfit a bit different than the soldiers. He had three gold medals on the left side of his chest, indicating his glorious achievements, it was apparent that he had a high rank in the military.
Beside the middle-aged man, there was a stern male in a sharp black tuxedo that resembled a secretary. Gripped tightly in his hands were a stack of documents - neat black letters printed on pristine white pages. As he pushed his luxurious glasses up his face, his eyes glared at the chained figure before him with a look of extreme disgust.

"Are you still unwilling to talk?"
The stern middle-aged man spoke with an angry tone as he faced the seated prison, who was in a miserable state. He was chained to a wooden chair with visible knife wounds on his chest and shoulders, causing the room to reek of blood.
He had messy black hair, pale skin, and dry lips, however, despite the situation he was in, the man showed a ridiculing smile as he stared back at the middle-aged man, who wanted to intimidate him.
"Well, I've got nothing to do so I'm free to talk whenever you want."
The man displayed a bright smile as he showed his white teeth to the secretary looking man and the tall middle-aged man who clenched his fist and viciously punched the prisoner in his stomach, causing him to fall along with the chair only to be supported back to his initial position by the present soldier, who, unlike their boss, was a bit fearful of the prisoner.
After he released his anger, he shook his fist which was now bloodied and glared at the chained figure.
"Still with that attitude of yours... tsk! It's not like it matters if you speak or not, we already got what we needed, let's proceed with the execution!"
As he finished talking, he glanced at the short man wearing a tuxedo and nodded his head.
"Wolfram Sakimoto, after the agreement of 19 countries and concrete evidence, you are hereby accused of these crimes: Arson, burning three hundred twenty-four properties and killing nine hundred fifty-one person in the process. Murder, two hundred and three were killed by your hands, among them were thirteen officials from various countries and two ministers. Assassination, weapon trafficking, human trafficking, torture, robbery, blackmail, kidnapping, forgery...."
The man continued talking for a few minutes and when he finally stopped, he was panting a bit due to talking nonstop for some time. The list of crimes was so long that the more the soldiers listened, the more astonished they became, they never imagined this chained dark-haired man did all of that, he didn't look particularly dangerous like the other criminals, which had ugly scars or creepy tattoos.
In contrary to the soldiers, the man in question let out a soft chuckle as he retorted

"Oi! It seems you missed quite a few of them hehe..."
Once they heard his chilling laughter and his remark, the soldiers who considered him to be harmless immediately changed their mind. They were feeling uncomfortable and uneasy to be near such a dangerous criminal, nonetheless, their experience allowed them to maintain a calm heart despite their surprise. They were only soldiers and their task was to guard this place, they knew nothing about the people held here which was why they were startled when they heard this terrifying list of crimes.
The secretary ignored the prisoner's remark and continued after taking a breath of fresh air
"You are accused of 248 crimes, 127 are proved to be made by you. Therefore, you are sentenced to death by electrocution!"
"Hm? Wasn't that banned a while ago? Well, it's not like it matters..."
The man wasn't fazed by what he heard, he already expected such an outcome so he maintained his carefree attitude as if he wasn't the person who's going to be executed.
The tall middle-aged man snorted and said
"Hmpf! Let's get on with it then!"
He waved his hands, ordering the soldiers the bring the equipment, which they hurriedly did without wasting any second. Very soon, the prisoner was seated at another metal chair with weird devices and thin metal threads that were wrapped around his four limbs, there was also a circular helmet on his head.
A slightly large generator was near the metal chair where a handle could be seen on top of it, the more you push the handle, the stronger the intensity of the electricity will be.
"Any last words?"
The tall middle-aged man stared coldly at the prisoner as his hand was resting on the handle.
"...."
Only silence could be heard as the dark-haired prisoner didn't speak and merely stared back at the commander with a deadpan expression, his usual smile was nowhere to be seen.
Seeing such a sight, the middle-aged man didn't hesitate and pushed the handle a bit, the intensity wasn't strong enough to instantly kill the victim but it would still inflict serious injuries and cause unimaginable pain.
'bzzt' 'bzzzzzt'
Electricity sounds could be heard as the prisoner's body convulsed intensely, his skin started turning red after a few seconds and even someone with strong resistance to pain like him couldn't help but let out a few groans which indicated how much agony he was currently experiencing.
The commander was going to add more intensity as he was enjoying this sight when he noticed that this dark-haired man seemed to be struggling to say something. He furrowed his brows and pushed the handle back, stopping the flowing electricity.
He didn't say anything and watched the prisoner, who was panting heavily and spitting blood from his mouth.
"Alright alright... I'll tell you what you want for one condition."
To be honest, knowing this criminal's character, the commander didn't expect to extract any kind of useful information from him, however, when he heard that, he became a bit hesitant and nodded to the prisoner, expecting him to say what he wants.
The prisoner showed a wide grin as blood leaked from his lips, he wriggled his body in a weird manner before he spoke
"It's quite simple.... just let me fuck your sister, I heard she's quite the beauty..."
"Bastard!"
Veins popped from the commander's forehead as he cursed and pushed the handle, resulting in the prisoner's body you to start shaking again, the intensity was three times stronger than earlier so one could imagine what the victim was like.
To stop the prisoner from shouting, a soldier forcefully stuffed a wet sponge inside the victim's mouth. A few more seconds passed and it seemed that it was almost the end as the prisoner's body stopped shaking and it seemed about to explode but just when that was about to happen, all the people present here heard a strange sound accompanied by weird blue windows appearing before them.
However, this was but the beginning as an earthquake assaulted them, rendering them unable to hold their balance and fall on the ground, the commander wasn't an exception either. The earthquake continued for a while and there was even big boulders that fell from the roof, crushing some unlucky soldiers and at the same time destroying the working generator.....

Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
