《The Tale Of A Slayer》Chapter 36:The End Of The Journey!

“And… done!”

I wiped the sweat off my brow as I finished tying up the last guy. I took off all of their masks and got a good look at their faces, in case one of them ever notices me in the future and causes trouble for me. That happens a lot in the novels I read, and I’m not taking any chances. Even if I had a mask on, safety is best after all. Of course, remembering the faces of a 100 people is pretty much impossible for me, but at least I’ll get a vague sense of familiarity when I see them, or if I see them in the future.

I tied them up, exhausting the ropes I had in stock. I actually stocked up on a lot of them, reminded of my experience with the usefulness of the vines during my stay in the forest, so as security I got quite a lot of them. I tied them up in groups of three, and I have enough for at least 2 more people, so I used them to tie up the boss. Double reinforcement!

I dragged the boss, who was out cold, to the edge of the water and pushed his face in. Bubbles came up, and he started struggling, seemingly awake now. I pull him out and throw him aside, and then crouch down. He splutters and gasps, his face wet.

“Yo, we meet again”

He looks up at me, and then looks around wildly. Looking at his tied up comrades, he sighs, and then replies.

“Haaah… I lost huh.”

He chuckles, and then keeps talking.

“It was…a fun fight. You’re really strong huh?”

I stay silent. I’m strong if compared to him, but the upper limits of strength I know are too far away for me. Arcus san, Master, they are the strong ones, if you ask me.

“So.. what do you want to know?”

“The villagers?”

“In the backroom, where you threw your teammate in.”

What? How did he?!

“It was really obvious, seeing your plan. And the bag kept moving, so I kinda guessed there was someone in it.”

“And you didn’t stop me?”

“There was a monster in front of us, and the path was blocked. Like we’d show our backs to an enemy just to chase after a child”

“Hm…”

The mask saved me, but inside, I was sweating quite profusely, seeing my plan was seen through in a glance. Sigh..

“But that’s not what you wanted to ask, is it?”

“The Slayers”

I affirm his suspicion. The more important thing was obviously finding out about the Slayers, and the Seven Deadly Sins. Well not exactly seven, since I only know about the sin of Greed, this guy’s boss.

“Fine, I’ll tell you. The Sla-“

“Skip the introduction. I know what the Slayers are. Tell me about your boss and your group as a whole”

His eyes widen with surprise, and then he stares at me with suspicion. After a pause, he began answering.

“We don’t have any names, but the Yiwolk Empire has termed us as Rebels. So, we called ourselves that. The top brass are seven Slayers, the strongest in our group. Our boss, Arlenid, is the seventh of the Sins, Greed”

“Seven sins?”

“Haaah.. We don’t know about it either. One fine day, a youth appeared, and gathered the slayers. He named them The Seven Deadly Sins, starting with himself as Wrath, then Lust, Gluttony, Envy, Pride, Sloth and our boss, Greed. He spewed a lot of such stuff, and he’s famous as the ‘Delusional Savage’.”

Delusional…Savage? The Savage part seems a bit, influenced, for some reason.

“But, the fact that all of us agreed to it is nothing but a statement of his strength. I’m sorry, but I don’t think you can even beat Greed, leaving out the other six.”

Hm, true. They must have at most 16 years of experience, a really large amount when compared to me. Master had told me that the sealing happened 16 years ago, and that everyone who was near a Slayer, as well as the Slayer himself, was teleported into the forest. So, the people who weren’t Slayers then weren’t included in the sealing, but the seal created a test for them, if they wished to leave. What a complex seal.

“Where do the rebels operate?”

“Hm? Are you gonna hunt them?”

“No. I want to meet them. I have a job to do, which a certain Slayer friend of mine, gave me. He asked me to find the rest of the Slayers in the outside world.”

This should be good enough for a cover story right?

He stares at me, but then replies.

“Slayers are taboo after all. And in 16 years, most have forgotten about their raw might. I’m sorry, but I cannot tell an anonymous person the whereabouts just based on your words. But I’ll tell you this, the land of the long horns, that is what you seek. Now, to the matter at hand. What are you gonna do with us?”

“Leave you here, alert the authorities, and move off? After all, even if you are related to Slayers, what you did here is inexcusable”

“What the humans did to us is inexcusable! This is nothing but payback for their crimes! They think of themselves as superior to us, like we are bugs! We’ll show them, we’ll show them what we can do!”

The calm Xhoing turns violent, as he spits out the words mixed with hate. Humans huh?

I ‘lightly’ knock him out, and then head towards the rock, pondering about what I learnt.

Sooner or later, I’d have to act for one of the sides. I can’t ignore it, since the moment I decided to dispel the curse, it was sealed that I’d get involved in these matters. But without doubt, what the Sins are doing now is wrong. Revenge for the sealing won’t help Baras, and it’ll only increase the feud. And helping the humans is just unthinkable.

I wonder when I began to refer to my kind as humans, as if we were not of the same kind…

For now, I need to learn of the situation properly. Information is crucial, and I have none of it. Xhoing was merely the weakest Slayer’s henchman, and he himself was only slightly weaker than me.

I need more cards up my sleeve, that I can use to counter any situation. I wave my hand, returning the boulder to the ring, and walk into the passage, troubled by my current state.

The passage was barely taller than me, and my head scraped the ceiling from time to time. Torches were lit along the passage, and the smoke made it stifling inside.

As I walked deeper, I noticed something.

A body was sprawled across the floor, face down. Near the person, crumbled rocks were there. Earth magic huh? Mili?

But, where was this guy when I used Detect? Did he use illusions to hide? Or..

I quickened my pace, worried about Mili. Shit, if anything happened to her…

I entered the room where the girls were, and sighed, in relief.

She was fine. Thank God.

“Oi Mili”

She turned around, her brow sweaty. She was taking care of Maria and Niviel, along with the refugees from the village. What a hard worker.

“Come on, let’s get them back to the village”

Mili smiled, relieved.

We escorted all the people, around 300 people, back to the village. It was early morning by the time everyone got back, and once we got back, we crashed into our beds, exhausted. I slept all through the day, and woke up at noon.

“Nn…”

I turned my head around, weary from the events of the day before. After a day of continuous walking, running around the village, and the battle royale, the fatigue had accumulated, and I was ready to drop.

When I turned my head, the sight surprised me. On my chest, a little girl was sleeping. Her dark green hair was sprawled across my chest, and she was sleeping quite peacefully.

Uehehehehe. Finally! Finally ! Mili has accepted me! Not a lolicon. Definitely not.

She must have been quite tired, and the nearest place was my room, so she just bunked with me, I guess. Maybe she misses her parents? She’s a little girl after all.

Speaking of little girls, I wonder how Shizuka is doing? That airhead, I hope she doesn’t wind up in any trouble. I need to meet up with her, soon.

I gently lifted Mili and placed her near Saki. Saki was awake, and she was gazing at the ceiling. A pensive mood for Saki, I guess.

Before I knew it, I was sleeping with two girls. But after all the crazy stuff that happened up till now, it doesn’t really have that much of an impact on me.

I sat up and flexed my tired body. It was alright, I guess. The sounds from the busy village reached my ears and I smiled, remembering the things that happened to me till now… My life was certainly screwed up. But strangely, I quite liked it. Fantasy worlds are great after all.

At that moment, if I were asked to pick between my old world and Redorias, I would have, without a doubt, picked Redorias.

“Uoooooh!!! Is that Ugras?!”

I exclaimed, looking at the capital Ugras.

We left in the evening, and had to suffer through Reginald grumbling about how he slept through all the action. Niviel san repeatedly thanked me, but I told her not to mind it. Saki kept her hand on my shirt all through the day, as if showing her gratitude.

And now, our adventures in Ugras, begins!

Extra Story:

After I checked up on Mili, I immediately left the room. My objective does not lie here, but the other room. The second best thing after seeing Mili smile, the treasure room!

The loot is the romance of RPGs. After an especially hard fight against hordes of monsters and a near death victory against the boss, the feelings of expectations about what would be obtained when the loot drops are simply unparalleled!

I head out into the passage, and then head right, deeper into the cave.

The torch’s light is reflected by something, something shiny. Something that shined golden!

My expectations were almost through the roof as I stepped around the corner, to take a look at that delicious loot.

“Thank you, Kami samaaaa!!!!”

I couldn’t help exclaiming when I saw the treasure room.

It was just like the treasure rooms I had in my mind.

With gold coins spilling left and right, and precious gems strewn across the mountains of gold. The center of the small room had lots of equipment, some expensive and some super expensive.

If I could, my eyes would have already turned into gold coins from the very sight of them.

“Lalalalala~”

Singing, I waved my hand, collecting all the precious loot.

Or so I thought.

It remained the same, without a change.

"Don't tell me..."

Writing appeared on the back of the wall.

The Greedy shall never be rewarded. Only I, the Sin of Greed, Arlenid shall obtain everything!!! Bwahahaha!

Huh?

Huhhhh?!!

Anger welled up in me. Don't kid me. Sin of Greed? Arlenid?!! Who cares!!

I left the room, vowing to show Arlenid the depths of hell when i met him.

(Kami sama: God.

Saki and Reginald had already been released from the barrier, FYI.

Windfall!)
