“So, what do we do then.”
“Like I said we need to observe, look at those demons, don’t they look a bit different than usual demons.”
“Different how?”
I forgot that they had never seen a real demon in their life. The demons had a distinctive, feature among them, unlike other beings, demons, possessed no soul, but I could see using the eyes of sage, that the demons in front had a soul resembling that of humans. Also, demons were not mindless beasts, even a low tier demon had more intelligence than an average human, yet the demons in this village showed no sign of intelligence. It looked like they were just smashing the things that were in front of them. They had a humanoid shape, but were more massive than humans, being low tier demons, they did not have a distinctive face, most of them looked alike, their color was also different, their jaws were wide, teeth coming out of their mouth, and bones like structure acting as a shield to their body.
The humans were panicking and running around, some were hiding in their house, some were trying to fight back.
“How do you think the demons got in here?” I asked
“How? By foot?”
“You, idiot, this kingdom has not yet fallen, this village is in the inner part of the kingdom, the demons could not have crossed the borders and come here.”
I used my eyes to have a more in-depth look into the village. Judging by the number of houses and the size of the town, the population should be around 2000. But the remaining people were about 100, and the number of corpses was around 1000. Did the rest evacuate?
I tried to look for a demon that was a bit different, to check whether this group had a leader or not, but there was none.

“Let’s leave.”
“Leave? Should not we try to kill one of the demons using the sword, that’s our task isn’t it?”
“Ahh, yes that our task.”
I did not care about that, but the church did give us a sword. I wondered what kind of sword it was.
“Appraisal”
Sword
Type: Normal Sword
A cheap sword made by low-quality metal. Forged by a newbie blacksmith.
Specialty: Covered in illusion magic to make it shine and look better.
Of course, it a useless sword, they wanted to send me to my demise, after all, they would not give me some kind of holy sword.
“So, do we kill a demon?”
I could not just tell them this was a cheap sword, and the church sacrificed you guys, they would not believe me.
“Yes, you guys stay here, I will do the killing.”
It was a cheap sword, but it did not matter to me, I walked ahead in the city, I closed my eyes, I used my senses to sense life force, every life force present within the town, I located them and memorized their location
“Lost Swordsmanship Second Form: Dance of the blade.”
With every location memorized, I simply cut through every one of them, if they were inside a building, they got cut with the entire building, if they were outside, they simply got sliced into pieces.

Ahh, I wanted to kill only demons, but when I sensed their life force to locate them, I forgot even humans were here, Well, who cares anyway

I returned, they had a look of surprise on their face, well at least they did not complain about me killing the humans.
Alva spoke in a quiet voice, “Look behind you.”
I looked back, the demons were regenerating. I was surprised. The system had already granted me experience points, the system would not have sent a message if I had not killed them, yet they were somehow regenerating.
But this time, they were different, now they had no soul, like proper demons, Did the souls provide them with an extra life?
Whatever I just had to kill them again, they were just regenerating in the same place, so their location had not changed,
“Lost Swordsmanship Second Form: Dance of the blade.”
I again, sliced all of them to pieces, but the notification did not pop, I looked at them they were still regenerating. And this time their recovery was even faster, just slicing them had no effect. These demons were different than regular demons, but they were still demons.
The cheap sword was on the verge of destruction, it was only holding on using my sword aura.
I threw it aside, “Morpheus.”
I took out my own sword and now, “Divine Flame.”
I surrounded Morpheus in divine flame since they were demons, the divine flames should work on them.
This time all the demons gathered and charged straight towards me.
“Lost Swordsmanship Fourth Form: Phantom Flash”
This time they did not regenerate, their bodies were covered in my flames, instantly vaporizing them.

Now, this time they were really dead.
The twins and Delvin were left in shock
“Wow, you are powerful.”
“Of course, I am.”
“But the sword, the sword that the church gave us why did you throw it away?”
“Oh, that it could not handle my aura and broke”
“Does that mean our task is complete? Can we now return?”
“Of course not, we just saw demons appearing out of nowhere, it’s our duty to investigate about it and find out more about the demons, besides I think I have a clue about how they appeared here.”
And I could not just let them go, my task was fully not completed yet.

For those unfamiliar with my writing style, Second Chances was my first attempt at writing. I'm not sure how much I learned in the process, except that readers get angry when you mess with characters they like! Warnings - I tend to info dump. I know I do this, I like slice of life novels that take time to unfold. So don't expect action, murder, and battles in every chapter, it isn't going to happen I prefer the first-person narrative. I will do an occasional POV shift, but it will never be done mid-chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, comments, ratings, and favorites are greatly appreciated!
