“How many numbers do the high elves have?”, I asked Lazarus
“I would estimate around 100 million.”, he replied
“I meant the once’s that could fight.”
“Yes, those are the numbers that could fight.”
“……”
“Wow, this is going to be harder than I thought.”, I thought
“We, won’t be able to defeat the high elves with just us.”, she said
“My, my, the little dragon, is getting afraid.”, I replied
“But, indeed, their strength is not to be underestimated.”, Lazarus replied
“You are a necromancer right, how many undead do you have under your control?”, she asked
“Well, I have around an army of 25000.”
“Wow, that’s way greater than I imagined but nowhere near enough.”, she said
“I know that’s why we are going to add numbers.”, I said
“Well, look we arrived at the Aeduven Empire.”, I spoke while looking at the kingdom
“Wow, it's huge.”
“Let me down, I think I can move now, my MP has recovered”, I said
“I read in a book; the population is around 70 million.”
“When you said you are going to add numbers you did not mean those people right.”
“Of course, not most of the humans here are useless.”
“We are simply going to kill them.”
But there were many things I could take advantage of. Till now, I had learned various surprising things. Like how the concept of levels did not exist in this world. People were not born with the skills they practiced and obtained skills. The more they practiced, the stronger they got, but I simply had to level up to get stronger. In just two years inside the dungeon, I was able to get more potent than most of the beings that exist here. But I was not omnipotent nor the strongest here. Even in the previous kingdom, I could feel a few people I could not beat with this current body. So, starting a war with high elves was not a good idea for now. I had to prepare.

“wait, not just the king but also the people, but why? On the way, you said you two were going to have revenge on the people who had wronged you in the past, but now you want to kill everyone.”, Lazarus asked
“Well, Lazarus, I think I am beginning to understand why you were defeated. You are not that bright, are you?”, I replied
“What?”, he was confused
“Crimson! What do you think would kill all of them be make us evil?” I asked
“Nope, not at all.”, she replied
“What? Are you both evil psychopaths?”, Lazarus exclaimed
“Ha-ha I really don’t think so besides why does a vampire even care about humans.”, I said
“I don’t care about them but even involving the innocents, I am not that low.”
“Let’s see we do it your way, but wouldn’t that even cause more suffering for the so-called innocent.”, I said
“What?”
“I would not say that your point of view is wrong, but the problem is you are basing your thoughts on the kingdom being stable, which causes your entire view being flawed. There is a war going on and say I kill the king and few nobles. The king would be replaced by the prince, the positions of the nobles would be filled by others. There might be some disturbances for the few months, but it will soon stabilize, and the internal matters of the royalties would not affect the war as they are not the ones fighting. Is that what you thought?”
“That’s just a simple and naïve way of thinking. The moment I kill the king who has yet to announce his heir,, this war would be over, humans would lose. The prince would take the throne? Taking the throne is not just simple. One prince takes the throne, and other princes agree! OH no, we don’t live in such a nice would, the various internal fractions would begin to make their move each supporting their own candidate. A series of assassinations would take place. There would also be a high probability of even civil war. The nobles getting replaced. Do you think the nobles would have left anyone alive in such a competitive world that could replace them and threaten their position? And do you think the elves would not take advantage of that? And what do you think will happen once the elves win, will they spare the humans, or kill them? The answer is none. Do you know the reason this war started?”

“No”
“It was because of slavery, the humans would often go to the elvish kingdom in terms to discuss the peace treaties, but every time the humans visited the elvish kingdom, many of the elf girls would often go missing. Later, the elves were brought to the human kingdom and sold as slaves here. When the elves demanded justice, the king gave no response, which leads to this war. Now, what do you think the elves will do to the remaining civilians, forgive them because they were innocent? Humans may have done wrong, but the elves were not innocent either, humans being able to abduct the elves on their own would have been impossible, it was the elves themselves that sold their own kind to the humans for gold. Still, that matter, of course, could not be made public, it was to hide that very fact the war had begun. Now, what would you think they would do to the remaining civilians?”
“Right now the death we offer would be a luxury for them, but the right choice would have been for us to help them and try to protect them but face it we have no reason to do that and even if we saved them would you look after them after that?”
“The war has already begun, and the things we do in war cannot be considered evil; that’s why war itself is known as evil.”
“…”
“Cheer up, let's visit the kingdom visit first and see if there are any people that would be able to offer us some help.”

A cry for help goes out and bonds long faded into obscurity are renewed. And the world quakes when their calls are answered. Melena, once a slave girl, resides happily in the Mansion and is slowly getting used to her new life, where equality seems to rule. When the enigmatic master of the Mansion decides to personally deal with the rulebreaker, her world is turned upside down as she stumbles upon ancient mysteries that threaten to overwhelm her. Luckily she finds support in her once-liberator, now turned friend, the happy-go-lucky Evon, who carefully hides his past, the ghost-like Khrast, Kreya and many others. The Epiphany Colony
Brad Asher has been a private detective on the Epiphany Colony orbiting Mars for about a year before stumbling into a conspiracy that threatens the safety and stability of the colony. Note that the story here is the first draft and has a lot of ideas, characters, and plotlines that I ended up dropping in the final version that I released here currently available on Kindle Unlimited. The entire second half was restructured, as I ended up not being satisfied with some of the things that I introduced and felt like it had strayed too far from my initial vision of a space-based detective noir story.
