The Last Prophet

They say that humans are social creatures, that no man is truly an island, that even the most detached and worst of criminals will break when confined in solitary confinement for too long.

It is because humans evolved that way. As feeble and vulnerable creatures, they have been forced to rely on others so much it became a necessity to have someone to trust.

And each generation learned the power of helping hands instilling in their genes a desire to seek a companion, of a belongingness called a family.

Even when luck denies them of happy and loving family, they dream and seek out of someone who will acknowledge their existence and attempt to find meaning of ephemeral and insignificant life.

But what if humans were bestowed powers to live quite a long life. It may not be eternity but long enough that time itself would take notice of them.

Would they then gain immunity to eternal solitude?

Would they still keep the same emotions and behaviors that makes them human?

Would they then be still called humans?

What about for someone who had changed his biology that constitutes a human?

In the cultivation world, there exist a group of beings called Seraphim Magi. It is path solely exclusive to humans, beings who are on the bottom when compared to thousands of thousands of intelligence species.

In the name of power, Seraphim Magi’s exchanged their souls and moralities to obtain what the world has denied them. They are willing to sacrifice millions to reach a rank. And it is due to their unrighteous and greedy nature of cultivation that they are killed on sight.

Since their inception, it is still unknown what their purposes are. It is easy to guess they want power but their actions had always been buried in mystery. For millions years, cultivators across the Upper World failed to capture not even one of them but after countless of trial and error, a Peak Divinity expert finally managed to trap a Seraphim Magi and in hopes of being able to one day interrogate and extract information, the expert sealed the Magi to eternal solitude inside an Ancient Emerald Dragon Prison Tesseract.

Within the Prison Tesseract where time moves five times faster than reality, a high-level Illusion Formation surrounds Seraphim Magi whose wings and limbs are glued at the bottom of a snow white gigantic iceberg-looking boulder floating on a still water.

The Iceberg is meant to absorb and deplete the power of the Magi and the fact it is still glowing meant not even a tenth was consumed from the Magi’s pool of Mana.

Meanwhile, not far from the iceberg is a young High Elven is slowly approaching the human prisoner. A small purple plate hangs on his right front pocket and couple that with a clean white laboratory coat indicates his status as a high ranking scientist. Due to his outstanding achievements, he obtained the right to seek audience with the most dangerous and most protected prisoner the Upper World.

The young High-Elven observed his surroundings. He knew he will not accomplish anything by visiting this god-forsaken prison but he was still willing to take chances.

When his research had hit a wall a decade ago, he accidentally derived a formula which then lead to a breakthrough in Mana Vein Production. While he was hailed once in a lifetime genius, he has yet to reveal the fact that his field of research is related to Time and Dimensional Relativity. Like many physicists who have stumbled upon unsolvable math problems, he knew he will be among those who won’t progress on this field but unlike those predecessors before him, he was not willing to give up. Even if means encounter with the most evil sect of the Upper World.

The moment he entered the Prison Tesseract, he was shrouded by a sea of dreadful silence, bone-chilling that even a sound of a fallen hair can echo throughout the abyss. If not of the protective barrier casted on him, his mind will have been absorbed into nothingness.

Within his view is a glowing object which slowly revealed it length after a few minutes of walking. Each step he takes creates ripples resounding throughout the eternal darkness waking up the prisoner who is now starting to madly laugh.

(Ha ha ha. At long last, you have finally arrived oh chosen one)

The young High-Elven was surprised upon hearing the voice but did not falter and ignored the terrifying and haunting sound.

Before entering the Prison, he was briefed that he will hear voices about being chosen and that he was warned that the prisoner has mercurial temper and can read minds and will utter senseless things. They know this because the number of times the prisoner has been interrogated has been countless and each time the prisoner is interrogated is like speaking to someone who has million-personality disorder.

As the young High-Elven got closer to the prisoner, he felt pity on the prisoner. Having been sealed of his powers and forced to remain conscious within this solitude of darkness for a quarter of a million year, no wonder the human had gone insane.

(Ha ha ha. At long last, you have finally arrived oh chosen one) The voice continued to reverberate like a laugh of a mad demon from hell.

After a few more minutes, the young High-Elven stopped and stood before the prisoner while maintaining a five meter distance. He put on a face devoid of any emotions as he looked at the naked prisoner.

“At long last, you have finally arrived oh chosen one.” The human prisoner twisted his neck left and right and attempted to move his body but like moth caught on a spider web, it was futile to free himself.

“Have you really lost your mind, human?” The young High-Elven stared at the prisoner whose hair has already reached the ground. It puzzles him that the man before him does not look someone who had lost their ability to reason.

“Lost my mind? Mha ha Mha Mha ha. How I wish I had gone insane. I’m just relieved that this day had finally come.” The prisoner lifted his head and opened his eyes and when his eyes met with his visitor, he smiled like a maniac revealing his front teeth then asked, “What is your name, young scientist?”

The young High Elven did not show any signs of being frightened. “My name Brung, son of Mur.”

*Exhale

The prisoner slowly exhaled and tilted his head upwards then closed his eyes again.

“Brung, son of Mur.”

*Exhale

“Brung, son of Mur, a distinguished scientist from the Lower World, and to be precise, LPE4-2782R Planet within Gar Wahger Federation of Valmoor Galaxy. You had a girlfriend by the name of Kei Lithe who dumped you and chose to be with another man. Despite knowing that she will choose you had you revealed your identity, your ambitious pride chose a lonely little career in science.” The prisoner moved his head again then opened his eyes. “Did I miss anything so far?”

Mur Brung’s eyes squinted. He is always calm and composed but upon hearing the word, “dumped”, he felt an itch at the back of his neck. He is confused whether he is really speaking to crazy person.

“What is your name, human?”

“My name is Ixfel Alnuma, last prophet of Gle Isha Temple.”

“I did not know you were a prophet.” Mur Brung smirked. “So tell me Prophet Ixfel Alnuma of Gle Isha Temple, were you able to prophesize that if you do not give me satisfactory answers my questions, that you will rot in this darkness forever?”

“Oh! I’m so afraid. What are you going to do?” Ixfel widened his eyes and shaped his lips like chicken butt and teased Mur.

A vein is startling to pop out of Mur’s forehead and after a brief silence, he took a deep breath and calmed his mind. The more Ixfel talk, Mur is lead to believe that Ixfel is not insane but just an obnoxious an annoying person with an ability to read. If being made fun of is the price he has to pay, being humiliated is nothing compared to the answers he will be hearing.

“Unlike other visitors you’ve had, I will not be asking what is at center of Ukacha Ruins nor what is the goal of Nosfera Army.”

Ixfel’s face returned to normal and stared at Mur.

When their eyes meet again, Mur made up his mind. Strong Mages are all scientists, if his guess is correct, Ixfel should be an exceptional one.

“There is a particle which is neither related to Primordial Qi or Mana, we call it Primordial Nether Qi. The Primea Stones your faction is very much interested in, does it react when it comes in contact to Nether Qi?”

“Is that really what you would like to ask, Mur?” Ixfel had a serious expression on his face. “You came here fueled by your desire to undo your mistake hoping that you will discover a way to turn back time. You’re a scientist, Mur Brung. Learn to place a limit to your fantasies.”

Mur clenched his fist. He has yet to move on from being dumped by his girlfriend and hearing the harsh truth from someone is infuriating. Nevertheless, he must not be swayed and continue his questions. Even if Ixfel is deemed insane, from the way Ixfel is responding, he believed that he should be able to at least hear relevant information.

But first, he must control the flow of the conversation. He will raise the issues of power with respect to Primordial energies then relate them to Time.

“The Law of this Universe dictates that Blue Qi Subspace Form Number 42 or Dao is the ultimate form of power, though it is only a theory, it means Mages will never be able to reach the strength similar to Immortal Levels. Seraphim Magi’s may have been successful in achieving powers similar or even stronger then Divinity Experts but even you know that that is the limit.

I will never be able to understand why cultivators from the Immortal Realm will not descend and eradicate your nest but know that science had made significant progress in studying Nether Qi and it is only a matter of time before we can discover a source. Once we found one, that will be the end of Nosfera.”

“Any Immortal who dares descend to the Lower Worlds are executed and hunted by Five Temples of Immortality. And as for the source of a stable Nether Qi, you will never be able to find one as only she is the source.”

“SHE?” Mur Brung spontaneously responded.

“Yes, a being from another universe. She may not have bad intentions but her presence will bring corruption into our universe.”

“You told me to limit my fantasies but aren’t you being one? There is a saying called leading by exam…”

Mur was in the middle of his sentence but was interrupted.

“Listen to me Mur, it is not fantasy. I know your objective is to learn about Primordial Energies and their relation to Time. I will give the information you want but you must first listen to what I’m about say.”

Mur noticed a few black lines forming on Ixfel’s body indicating that Ixfel is about to turn into another person. And when that happens, Ixfel will forget everything like they never met.

“I hope it is something important as we may not be able to meet again.”

“The universe we live in has just matured but its ability to maintain the balance of Primordial Energies has yet to be perfected. Do you know why I said only she is the source of a stable Primordial Nether Qi?”

Mur Brung was silent and did not respond.

“It’s because the Law that governs this universe dictates that it must be unstable therefore unstable. This Being came from universe where Nether Qi is stable and can influence the state of Nether Qi present in our universe and they can do this just by being present and our universe can’t cope up mending the corruption they bring. It is with… ”

*Argggghhh!!

*Argggghhh!!

The black lines within Ixfel’s body grew exponentially causing him extreme pain he looked like being choked to death. However due to his limbs and wings being glued to a mysterious stone, he was unable to freely move.

Mur Brung on the other hand observed Ixfel’s transformation. There is sympathy on his eyes but he was helpless to do anything. The very reason he did not want to pursue cultivation is the idea of becoming Ixfel himself.

He closed his eyes and waited until the black lines disappear and when Ixfel returned to normal, he heard the same greeting.

“At long last, you have finally arrived oh chosen one.”
