Subspace Experiments

“I was a bit surprised when I learned that you have yet to become an official Alchemist. Given your Dao comprehension, you should be enjoying the privilege and status of someone from the inner circles of this branch.”

“Like any other humans, I’m inferior and nothing special.” Clay poured another cup of tea then continued, “I would appreciate if you cut through the chase and just tell me what you want.”

*Sip

“Tea?”Clay lightly smiled as he assessed his situation.

He did not need to look outside to determine the identity of the other cultivator as this person’s aura is quite familiar. It is none other than Alva. For a person to purposely leave a trace of Transcendent Essence Flame and a trace of his Dao, Clay could not fathom the need to always be recognized as powerful and respected.

But speaking of being powerful and respected, the fact that Alva has to stay outside while Vidri came alone to talk to him means that Vidri has higher status.

“He he he” Vidri forced a laugh then said, “We are attempting to uncover the mysteries of Dao and our experiment needed specific subjects and a certain captain of the Kelum Race recommended you to me.”

“Surely there are far better subjects you could choose from. In fact, the person outside is a top notch Alchemist and not to mention the nine Grand Elders of this branch.”

“If we are looking for someone better, then there was no need to expand our search. You’ll understand soon when you agree. Be assured that after the experiment, as long as your conditions are reasonable, I will see to it that it will be granted.”

Clay’s countenance started to change when he heard that the experiments will be related to Dao. One of the reasons he almost died recently is because some wanted to know the secrets of his power and participating on this experiment will certainly expose the real power of his Dao.

“I assume there is no option to refuse?” Clay forced a smile. If he has his ship, he will move to kill the two. Sadly it was in the spatial ring attached to his finger when his hand was cut by that mysterious cultivator who wanted to extract his soul.

“I came to ask nicely.” Vidri avoided Clay’s gaze. He wanted to engage Clay on a friendly chat but he overestimated his judgment.

“And how long exactly is this endeavor of yours? And maybe a few details of this experiment.”

“Not more than two hundred years.” Vidri’s tone became more polite. “Well technically, ten minutes in real time but the dimension you will be transported to is a Negative Subspace and time flows absurdly faster. If things go according to plan, you won’t even feel the flow of time but if there is a little hiccup, then you will have to wait maximum of 1000 years before we can retrieve you back. As for what exactly will you be doing, you can be assured it is nothing complicated. You just need to manifest your Dao whilst in pure-mana-nothingness environment. Nothing else.”

Clay felt relieved upon hearing Vidri’s reply. As long as it does not involve killing anything or anyone, he believes thing will smoothly come to pass without him offending anyone. As to what they will find on the nature of his Dao, even he is curious and maybe is good idea to participate.

As for being abandoned for 1,000 years, confident that he can live more than a million year, a millennia is an insignificant amount of time not worth mentioning. He will just treat it as a form of seclusion. Besides, that will only happen if problem do arise during the experiment assuming of course that Vidri is not lying.

Since he does not have any option to decline, at least he could take advantage of this situation and ask questions pertaining to subspace especially on what Vidri just said about, “Negative Subspace”

As far as what he knows, it is time in the real world that flows faster when in Subspace. And it is because of this principle that spatial rings are derived from Spiritual Qi based items.

There is indeed an item where time flows faster than the real world and that is the crystal from a rare and extinct species of Emerald Dragons.

“If you can create items where time flows faster than in real life, why do cultivators go crazy hunting Emerald Dragons.”

Vidri felt relieved upon sensing the change in Clay’s mood after hearing the sudden question. Every time he delivers the bad news, any Ascendants who would hear that they might sacrifice a tenth of their life would become uncooperative and everything becomes complicated he has to use the name of Alliance to force someone.

It’s the reason why he wanted to engage Clay in friendly conversation and present their offers before actually presenting what must be surrendered in exchange.

He was unsure if he had already offended Clay and was about to say something to divert the conversation but he is thankful Clay proactively changed the subject. To return the favor, he must naturally entertain the question.

“Spiritual Qi has different states that in reality dimension, they are beneficial to cultivators and can take up higher forms consistent with cultivator’s need to become more powerful so we have like Heaven Qi, Divine Qi and Immortal Qi but as they are exposed deeper into the 42 Subspaces, they take the opposite form until they generally become Primordial Energies which is unsuitable for cultivation.

The crystal within the Emerald Dragons is the only known item capable of preserving the states of Spiritual Qi. There is a rumored type of Spiritual Qi discovered within Virgo Cluster Galaxy that could preserve its state and function just fine even when in Subspace. Unfortunately, that area is off limits for explorations as there had been a serious encounter with an evil organization called Nosfera Abyss.”

Clay’s eyes squinted after hearing the name of Nosfera. He was only curious of the other type of Subspace yet who would have thought the illustrious name would be mentioned.

Ever since he came to this planet, he had always wanted to inquire about this organization but to avoid being mistaken again for someone, he promised not to utter this name while he still weak. However, since the name was mentioned not by him, this would be a perfect time to gather information about them.

“I agree to participate in this experiment however, I hope this friend can tell me more about Nosfera.” Clay emptied his cup and decided to agree. As for what the experiment truly entails, that will come later. At least for now, he had a perfect excuse to ask about Nosfera.

Meanwhile, Vidri was puzzled by the sudden question. Prior to this meeting, he looked at Clay profile. Accordingly, Clay is from the Lower World and a confirmed at 2ND Phase Dao that the Captain from Kelum Race used all his merits points to clear Clay’s name and recommend him directly to their sect in hopes of nurturing a legendary Alchemist.

The expectation is that, Clay should have had become a distinguished Alchemist by now but for some reason, Clay remained a minor figure. While that Captain was disappointed, he stood by the side and refrained from meddling into Clay’s affairs.

Since Clay is deliberately hiding his talent, they can’t help but become suspicious. And it with this reason they wanted Clay to participate in the experiment to allow them to further observe his actions.

However now that Clay is suddenly interested in gathering information about an organization avoided and despised by everyone, his danger instinct is tingling warning him to avoid Clay.

“Well, there is not much to tell who they are and what do they truly want. But if to do with their devastation, even our galaxy had some unfortunate encounters.”

“You mentioned Virgo Cluster Galaxy earlier, if that is where Immortal Azure Sky Soul Sect is located, what I want is information regarding the activity of Nosfera for the past hundred thousand years within that sector.”

“Ha ha ha.” Vidri laughed and did not make a comment and just looked at Clay in the face. At this point, he already has an idea what kind of person Clay is and there should not be a reason to maintain a weak and a pushover image.

After a few seconds, he got to his feet and said, “I don’t know who you are and what you want but let’s talk about that once the experiment is done. Come.”

Clay watch as Vidri stepped out of the house. Clay thought he was speaking to a messenger but in an instant, Vidri show his true pride as a scientist. Clueless as to what just happened, he stood up and walked outside as well.

As soon as he stepped out of the house, he noticed Alva standing on a corner like a guard and did not even dare look at him.

“Come closer” said Vidri as he threw a purple glass-like prism towards Clay. “I have no doubts regarding the report that have achieved the 2ND Phase of Dao but as the leader assigned to supervise this experiment, it is my duty to ensure the quality of the participating subjects. Inject your aura and imbue it with your Dao.”

Clay caught the object thrown at him and walked towards Vidri then stopped when he was at a meter distance. If only he had the means to escape this planet, he would walk out and kill every witness. Right now, what’s stopping him from killing Vidri and Alva is that he could not feel any threat or any malicious intent from them.

*Exhale

Clay adjusted his Dao then injected his Qi into the prism and then a second later, the prism emitted bluish light which then formed into a cylindrical Formation enveloping the two of them and in an instant, they vanished from their spot.

*Zsshhh!

Clay felt his surrounding become distorted and while he had little time to protect himself, that split second was more than enough for him to reinforce his body with his Qi to avoid being vaporized from the spatial travel.

*Crash!

Meanwhile, somewhere on the moon base where Clay was initially dropped off, multiple silver arcs of lightning forked out randomly followed by the sudden appearance of two cultivators.

It is none other than Clay and Vidri who just teleported from the surface of the planet.

“You’re even better than I thought.” Vidri commented as he looked Clay who did not seem affected by the surprise teleportation.

Clay on the other hand was focused on his surroundings. That moment they disappeared, he still has to feel any threat and when they reappeared, he immediately surveyed the new environment.

Seeing it was not a trap, he retracted his aura and smiled like nothing happened.

“Refrain from doing that again. I may accidentally kill someone in reflex.
