《The New Era Project》Chapter 31: Astonishing Development

Feng Ye accompanied Miku for a nice work out. After they finished, Miku headed back to the suite to rest while Feng Ye decided to book a private training room. Booking a room is quite simple. Due to his connection to the student council president, a simple text message asking if he could be accommodated a room was extremely easy. With a quick yes from the student council, Feng Ye was able to quickly book a private room. These private rooms are available on the same floor as the training floor in which the gym was located.
The room is a very clean environment. It has no windows and has an area of 30 metres squared. Feng Ye enters and sits in the very centre of the room. He takes out the book that was given to him by Akeno and starts to read up.
The book was essentially an instruction manual, however, it seems to be written in a language that he did not understand. At an initial glance, he could not understand anything, however, he recalls Akeno’s advice regarding the mental domain. Thus, Feng Ye sits crossed legged and closes his eyes. In his mind, he starts to use Spiritual Awareness. In his mind, he can sense that around him there seems to be a leakage of this mysterious energy from the book.
“Hm, is this what the magical energy is?”
Feng Ye concentrates and focuses on using his spiritual awareness to specifically scan the book in front of him only to be greeted with a sudden wave of energy. Immediately, he felt his mind tremble as though the energy was trying to worm its way through. However, naturally, Feng Ye doesn’t know if it is harmful or not, thus, with his utmost concentration he creates a barrier that seals any opportunity for the unknown energy to enter.
After some time, the energy could not find a way to enter his mind, thus, seemingly retracted. Feng Ye, with his spiritual awareness, could see the strands of energy getting absorbed into the book. Seeing no more harm that could potentially appear as the energy is retracted, Feng Ye probes once again.

This time, he is able to directly access the contents of the book. It is as though he could directly have the information printed in his brain.
“Interesting… it seems that the strand may have been a test of some sort seeing if the user is able to learn and if the user has the potential to do so…” He smiles.
As the information gets loaded into his brain, the application of the technique is actually quite simple. The user uses energy from the so called spiritual veins and directs the accumulation of magical energy into their eyes. Imbuing the user’s eyes with magical energy from the spiritual veins would allow the user to identify similar types of magical energy. It consumes energy though, thus, it has a huge consumption rate. Feng Ye, however, doesn’t have spiritual veins. At least he doesn’t know if he even has the aptitude for magic.
“Hm. How can I apply my ability ? It seems that my esper ability, Spiritual Awareness could already identity this type of magic. Though, it is much more subtle.”
Feng Ye ponders and contemplates. “Perhaps, I should try now to incorporate the two esper abilities, vibration and spiritual awareness and try to manipulate this energy.”
Concentrating, Feng Ye starts to use his spiritual awareness on the thin strands of magic leaking out of the book. He uses his spiritual awareness to identify and locate, while slowly using his vibration ability to try to move such energy towards himself.
As he continues to try, nothing happened. It had failed. He also decided to try using his spiritual awareness on his vibration ability. A subtle surprising change had occurred. With his spiritual awareness, he was suddenly able to visualize the distinct particles of the molecules.
“WTF!” He exclaims. Shocked, Feng Ye gasps at the scene in his mind. A series of molecules of different sizes float and vibrate in the air. Some may have been oxygen, while others should be nitrogen, and hydrogen.

Unexpectedly, with spiritual awareness, he can zoom in and analyze the atoms in reality. Isn’t this ability a bit too heaven defying?! However, he immediately has to stop as he starts to pant and feels exhausted. He felt as though he had just studied for five days straight for 15 hours a day and then wrote 5 examinations back to back.
“Wow, that’s crazy. It has crazy consumption though.” Feng Ye sits in silence and rests for a good 30 minutes in the room.
“Alright, now let’s try to see if I can apply the vibration at such a molecular level!”
Learning from his previous mistake of using it a bit too long, this time Feng Ye utilizes spiritual awareness immediately to focus on the atoms at a molecular level. Then, using his vibration ability, he concentrates on visualizing the vibration of such molecules. To his surprise, under his watch, the oxygen atom he chose to vibrate becomes excited as it vibrates quicker. Immediately, he turns his attention to the leaking magical energy and sees interesting square shaped particles. He tries to vibrate it in such a way that the vibration causes excitation to occur. He wants to excite the magical particles to condense towards him.
As his vibration ability is utilized, he could feel a strange connection to the particles. The particles unexpected are using the vibration as a catalyst to excite and then drill towards Feng Ye’s body.
“!?” Feng Ye can feel a warm surging current entering into his body. His veins feel warm as though he had just finished warming up for a work out.
“Hm, I should be able to use this?!” As soon as the magical energy had entered within his body, he felt as though he could easily utilize it at will. With a single thought, the magic in his veins that is circulating condenses on his eyes and the so called magical energy emitted from the book becomes extremely noticeable.
“Nice, so I am a mage?! Haha?” Unfortunately, his happiness didn’t last too long as he knows that currently he needs a source of magic. He doesn’t have spiritual veins which can automatically absorb natural energy from his surroundings to convert into magical energy. He is relying on the book as the source, thus, the disadvantages is obvious. He needs a large amount of magical energy to supply him.
“Hm, Shira- do you have any suggestions on how to directly convert natural energy without the system into magical energy?”
Shira in his mind, naturally had witnessed this entire process and training. “I believe that at this time you will need to find a source that provides magical energy and using the process you had discovered is necessary. Your esper ability, spiritual awareness, opens many opportunities in the future. You will need to continue to work hard to develop this. As of right now, from your ability I cannot determine any method to directly convert without my help.”
“I see. So, I guess for now- I’ll use this book as a magic source. It should meet my needs of tracking. Later, perhaps I should try to get an actual magical item from the student council. Perhaps, she has one as her background seems not simple.”
Feng Ye is quite satisfied with the training today. He unexpectedly was able to discover another application of spiritual awareness. Also, once he is able to visualize with spiritual awareness, he can apply his vibration ability.
He glances at his phone, and realizes it is quite late. Almost 1am….. Thus, he needs to head back.
Feng Ye heads back to his suite to retire for the night.
