《The New Era Project》Chapter 7: Suspicious Accident

Feng Ye, after travelling back with Chu Feng and Wu Ya to floor 15, separate ways. Feng Ye heads back to suite 15A as he checks the time on his phone. He had decided not to replace this phone with a newer version of this world in order to remind himself of his goal to find a way home.
The phone displays the time 1:57PM. It seems that the entrance ceremony didn’t take very long. As he enters the suite, he sees Akimichi reclining on the sofa seemingly bored.
“Hey, what are you up to Akimichi-kun?”
Akimichi sits upwards and replies, “Welcome back Feng-kun, quite a bored day today. No classes yet. No trainings. Nothing. How was the entrance ceremony?”
“It was alright. It was as you described. They did have quite an in depth explanation of the ranking system between campuses.” Feng Ye replies as he heads to the kitchen to make a quick meal.
Akimichi, who had been spending the last few hours staring at the ceiling, follows. “Feng-kun, you can cook?”
“Only some basic dishes.” Feng Ye as an undergraduate needed to make most of his meals as he lived away from home. Unfortunately, as living expenses needed to be paid, he had formed the habit of not eating out.
Feng Ye decides to make a chicken stir fry with rice which is the meal that he is most familiar with. During the past few days, he was also able to purchase all the necessary ingredients and tools for cooking.
Akimichi stares with interest while Feng Ye cooks. “Haha, Feng-kun.. Who knew that you look so elegant when cooking. The aroma is quite nice.”
“Thanks for the compliment. However, I am not interested in men… If you would like, I’ll make you a portion as well.”
Akimichi gives a winning smile. “Haha, no worries. I don’t have any wicked thoughts. I would be delighted to taste some of your cooking.”
When Feng Ye finishes, the strong aroma of the chicken fried rice spreads throughout the suite. As the two begin to eat, a knock is heard at the doorway.
Akimichi goes to see who the visitor is only to be greeted by Kira and Chu Feng.
“Hey, your chicken fried rice has a quite flavorful aroma. Even if I am outside the doorway of suite 15K, I could smell it. Haha, you should also invite us in to have a taste.” Chu Feng exclaims.
Akimichi glances at the two, “Sure, come in.” Feng Ye smiles and goes back to the kitchen to create two more servings.
As Feng Ye finishes up the two extra servings, the four gather at the table to discuss the recent events and entrance ceremony.

“It seems as though making friends will be quite hard.” Chu Feng sighs. “From the looks of the surroundings, they all seem to be in awe or envious while not daring to approach. Such is the life of being within the top 10. I guess, It’ll be just me, you and Wu Ya. Feelsbadman.”
Feng Ye smiles, “Yes, quite unfortunate. At least we won’t have any troublesome matters from those in our year. Perhaps, the second years would be the opposite though. As for friends, I’ll introduce you to Haruta and the others. You may find that trio interesting.”
The rest of the afternoon passes quickly, as Kira and Chu Feng head back to their suite. Quickly, the sky becomes dark.
“It gets dark so quickly nowadays. Summer is long over and fall is coming quickly.” Feng Ye sighs.
“Hey Feng-kun, are you up for a stroll in the city? Might as well before classes start and everyone becomes busy.” Akimichi pats his full stomach and inquires.
“Sounds interesting, let’s go.” With that said, Feng Ye holds onto Akimichi’s hand and the two disappear from the suite.
In the busy metropolis, Feng Ye and Akimichi’s forms appear from the space. “Quite lively, as always. Aven...the city which never sleeps.”
The two wander down the busy streets which are filled with stores, blinking lights, projections, and screens that display the latest trends, news and products.
“Tomorrow, our freedom will be limited.” Akimichi sighs. “Be sure to enjoy your life at school well. After this period of development, it will become only more tiresome.”
Feng Ye nods and relates Akimichi’s experience to his first year of university. The transition from secondary school to post-secondary school was quite a shocker. Responsibility increases along with independence. Each individual needs to plan out their own future path and take the necessary steps to create their future.
“Akimichi is probably describing this experience.” Feng Ye thinks to himself. He didn’t notice Akimichi’s change in expression. The two stroll in the city until the time is 12:20AM.
“We should probably start heading back. Tomorrow, is the beginning of your school life.” Akimichi says while gesturing Feng Ye to hold his hand.
“Yes, let’s go.” The two disappear from the metropolis and reappear in the suite. Both separate to their respective rooms getting ready for the new day.
A new day arrives quickly. Feng Ye, Wu Ya, and Chu Feng commute the exact same way as the previous day and successfully arrive at the Kami Institute. At the school entrance gate, Feng Ye notices numerous students bustling about. A total of 200 enrolled students will be populating the institute grounds for the next two years consisting of 100 first years and 100 second years.

The trio heads to the classroom, 1-A. There seems to be ten classes consisting of ten students per class in each year. The first year classrooms are 1-A to 1-J. As the trio are the earliest ones to arrive, the classroom is essentially empty. The three occupy the back seats and await the start of the school day. While Feng Ye waits, he recalls the system status in his mind.

“Hm, one more day and all features will be accessible.” Feng Ye thinks to himself.
The classroom slowly populates. A variety of hairstyles, hair colors, and individualistic students fill up the seats. Feng Ye notices when Yotsuba and Akihiko enter the class. The two also notice Feng Ye and take the seats in the back nearby.
Akihiko smiles and comments, “Hey. All three of us made it.”
Feng Ye nods, “Yes. By the way, where is Haruta?”
Yotsuba sighs. “Haruta, that fellow told us to come first. He wasn’t ready. He probably slept through his alarm clock..”
“Ah, I see. Of course that sounds like something Haruta would do. Hopefully, he can avoid being late on his first day.” Feng comments.
As those words fall, the school bells ring signalling the start of classes. A female around the age of her late twenties enters the classroom. She is of Japanese descent and a height of 5’’6 feet. She has black hair and seems to be have a rather uptight personality.
“Silence please.” As the cold words fall, the class becomes silent. A murderous aura covers her entire body as she glances at the students in the class causing some students to have shivers down their spine.
“I am Yamato Aoi, your teacher responsible for the upcoming school year. Let’s get down to business.”
She takes attendance and notices an empty seat. Her brow wrinkles. As she looks at her attendance list, she notices that the missing one was Haruta Yoshida.
At this moment, Haruta rushes into the classroom with an appearance that is out of breath.
“Sorry sensei, I was late because I got lost on the path of life….” As Yamato listens, a vein starts to appear on her forehead.
“After I found my way, I had to help an old lady cross the street….” The vein on Yamato’s forehead starts bulging while her mouth starts to twitch.
“Unfortunately, a black cat crossed my path, so I had to go the long way....” Finally, she couldn’t stand the listening to the nonsense that Haruto spouts nonchalantly.
“That would suffice. Haruta-kun, please take a seat. Class has started.”
“Yes. Sensei.”
Following this interlude, the class resumes as normal. Feng Ye found that the topics taught were still review from his first year university courses. Time passes slowly and finally, it is time for lunch. The students separate into their respective groups heading out for lunch or eating their home-made meals.
Feng Ye, Wu Ya, Chu Feng, Haruta, Yotsuba, and Akihiko stick together. No other students approached. At this moment, the squad had been created. Little did the group know that such a perfunctory gathering was the start of the legendary organization which would be praised in years to come.
Feng Ye rolls his eyes towards Haruta, “What a terrible excuse. What actually caused you to be late?”
Haruta laughs, “Haha, as expected. I was found out by you.” His tone becomes serious. “Actually, I was delayed by a traffic accident that had occurred nearby. I didn’t examine any details as I was already hurrying along due to sleeping through my alarm, but it seemed pretty serious.”
The group’s atmosphere changed drastically. Yotsuba adjusts his glasses, “That’s very odd. As the city of Aven regulates traffic and monitors the usage of vehicles quite strictly. An accident like that is rare.”
Wu Ya nearby interjects, “We shouldn’t involve ourselves in these troubled waters. I’m sure there had to be the involvement of espers. By the way, nice to meet you three.”
The topic is dropped as introductions are made and everyone seems to hit it off well. The conversation deviates as Haruta inquires to Wu Ya, “By the way, I was just wondering why you seem to be indifferent to the other female students of our class?”
Wu Ya snorts, “There is no point in trying to associate with those who don’t dare to approach. Besides, I feel that it would be much more interesting experiencing the joys of student life with our rank 1 and rank 3 over here.”
“Haha, I’ll accept the compliment.” Chu Feng laughs. The group heads back to class. The long, boring hours pass by slowly. Finally, the school bell rings signifying the end to the day’s classes.
The uneventful day passes quickly. When Feng Ye arrives in his designated suite, he notices that Akimichi hasn’t returned yet. With a yawn, Feng Ye retires for the night.

What would happen if someone reincarnated as a fork? Involves: merciless fork jokes, monsters, magic n' all that stuff, some profanity, maybe some gore (i'll keep it light), fork philosophy, and if you got advice on where to go next with the novel, comment, coz I only got a hazy outline. The Sorcerer's Apprentice
A world where magic must be hidden from mankind is a world where mages have no reason to exist. Zara was one of them--a young woman forced to spend her days in confinement, to lessen the risks of outsiders discovering the truth. She was not human. She was, as they say, a living embodiment of a thousand year old curse upon the Kingdom and humanity as a whole. And the only way to handle a curse is to get rid of it--which is precisely what the Kingdom had been doing for centuries--eliminating any being that contained even an ounce of enchanted blood. Zara has lived most of her life with the threat of death hanging over her head, though it never averted her heightening curiosity about magic, nor the abilities innate within her. And when a powerful, enigmatic Sorcerer comes to her with a proposition, Zara finally sees her chance to embrace the curse she was born with. It was a chance laced with precarity and destruction, but a chance nonetheless...

The Gambit
The kingdoms have rarely experienced peace, with kings and rulers warring against each other on any percieved slight. With explorers riding the waves to find new lands and merchants eager to set up trade routes while profiting as much as possible. Would the status quo still hold up? The veil is already weakining as more magic and horrors seep through the gap. How would the world deal with the sudden increase in the limited resource of magic? With the times changing, barren lands become trade hubs and the power shifts. The system holding it all together, is in a fragile balance, would a single death break the balance and cause the most devastating war the people have experienced. The direction of the story : The story will not contain any main protagonist, rather multiple protagonists and antagonists with the protagonists having bad some character traits and the antagonists some good ones. I plan to make a story of flawed humans, so if you are looking for OP MCs you would not enjoy it. But I still hope you give it a try. This is my first time writing and I am doing it to get better, so any suggestion or criticism is welcome. I am a university student, so do not expect a robust upload schedule, I'll try to put out 2 chapters a week, but there might be some delays. I apologize for it in advance. P.s. English is not my native language, so there might be some errors, though I tried to mitigate them as much as possible.
