《Project Frost : Gate of All》31 - The New Student

The word “excited” probably didn’t justify the level of noisiness Cath made since last night. Aediva woke up, more tired than any other day. Quite ironic since she has been in a coma for a week yet she feels like her whole body was overworked.

“Aediva! Wake up! It’s morning! IT’S SCHOOL TIME!!!” Cath practically shouted in her ears as he jumped on her body before running on the bed. Aediva felt like throwing the cat out the window but a part of her persuades to just let it go and go on with the day.

That said, the principal did say to drop by the office first thing in the morning. After she took a bath, she finally noticed something.

“What’s wrong, Aediva?” Cath asked, seeing Aediva simply freezing in front of the old dresser, still in her bath towel. Aediva let out a sigh.

“I don’t have anything to wear” she said, shivering a bit when the water dripping from her hair landed on her skin. Honestly, she wished this dorm had a running heater for her to use. Ever since that day, the feeling of coldness from inside her body has only grown and making her feeling like anything she’s wearing won’t be enough to warm her own body. Troubled, she closed back the drawer.

It was then when she heard fast approaching footsteps from the stairs not far off. Cath’s ears twitched as he looked at the door that was suddenly slammed open.

“AEDIVA! RISE AND SHINE! IT’S THE FIRST DAY OF OUR SHARED SUFFERING~~~!” Eden’s loud voice echoed in the room. Arthur at the back also come in with a rather large box occupying his arms.

“Aediva, we found this on the porch and I thought you might………”

“...”

Silence fell upon the two young men the moment they looked straight ahead. Aediva crossed her arms.

Wet waist-length platinum blonde hair messily sticking to her body. Pristine skin looked like it was covered with ground pearl powder that sparkled under the old ceiling lights. Shapely waist that’s sticking to the towel. Toned thighs and long legs.

Wordlessly, Arthur placed the box at the side of the door. His face was beet red. At least he had the courtesy to try and refrain from staring at her. Unlike a certain raven who was blatantly looking at her from head to toe, locked in place.

Aediva cracked her fingers - snapping the raven out of his stupor. But it was too late by the time he wanted to run out of the room like Arthur who had already taken cover behind the walls.

“WAITWAITWAIT--- I’M SOR---”

BOOM!

She did not know who had been kind enough to left the box full of something nice to wear the first day of school but Aediva is grateful.

‘ Here’s a little gift on your enrollment as a student. It should be good enough for temporary uniform until you get your official ones. -From M.C.A’

The white shirt, black skirt and even the black vest fit really well to her measurement. Not to mention, the two pairs of new shoes - one a pair of heels and another, a pair of combat shoes; both even had the right size for her. Weird enough, this is not exactly the first thing she received a box full of new clothes with a note signed by this mysterious ‘M.C.A’.

In fact, the very first morning after she arrived, she had a box right in front of the dorm’s porch from the same sender as well. Her nightdresses, her everyday outfit, even to her underwear. It was all new and conveniently sitting right out her doorstep?

She once asked the ghost that still lingered around about the boxes but even they couldn’t tell who it was. All they knew was the boxes just appeared from thin air.

Maybe it’s better to just not question it in the end. So she kept the questions at the back of her head as they walked to the main school building - heading to the principal’s office.

Surprisingly, Cath didn’t seem like he wanted to be her passenger that day. For once, her shoulders felt light as she saw the bipedal black-furred monster walking on his two hind legs, puffing his chest to the world.

“Move it! Move it! The greatest genius mage is coming through!” he announced. Aediva let out a sigh. She gets the feeling like that little monster - half of a student, her half of a student, would definitely start complaining later when he’s actually in class.

“Ah… But still, the school really doesn’t impose much restriction on how students wear their uniforms huh?” Aediva said, turning her head to the two boys who had been awfully quiet ever since they exited the Aval Dorm.

“Hmm…” Eden mumbled with puffy cheeks and a bruised eye. Clearly, the result of barging into Aediva’s room.

“Damn, you look like some serious shit, Eden” Aediva smirked, evil clear in her argent eyes. Eden growled.

“Damn you. No matter how I see it, punching the shit out of me is an overkill. You even chase us out down the hallway as well. How much of a brute can you be anyway?!” Eden complained, grimacing when his jaw hurt. Aediva raised an eyebrow. Arthur let out a small sigh with dead eyes.

“My jaw hurts as well. Do you really have to punch our faces that hard?” he said, weakly.

“Tch. Serves you right for barging into a girl’s room without thinking. No actually wait, the both of you never think anyway. My bad” Aediva said with a half-hearted confession that irks Eden further.

“Damn boar. Who the hell would like you with that unrefined attitude?” he hissed at her.

“You’re the last person I want to hear that from, pervert-porcupine” Aediva retorted, returning the glare with the raven-haired boy. Arthur stepped in between the two with a sigh.

“Both of you, we need to hurry to the office. Or we’ll be late for class” the blond boy said. Relenting, Aediva walked away and Eden looked at her even more annoyed.

“Damn that girl! Can’t you at least apologize for my swollen face?!” he shouted.

“I can’t hear anything from far away all over the sudden” the petty girl said, from afar.

“You’re not adorable at all, you hear me!”

“Neither are you”

“What the hell did you just say?!”

Arthur sighed. It feels like it’s going to be a long day for some reason.

In the end, their visit to the office was pretty short. They were greeted by Krow’s secretary who briefed the new monster-human student pair about their classes as well as the contract for scholarship that was promised to her as part of the condition for her enrollment. Of course, the frigid secretary didn’t forget to give a warning to the girl once she saw Eden and Arthur walking out of the office to wait for Aediva outside in the hallway.

“Please do not forget what Mr. Faraday had done for you, Ms Aediva. The least you could do is try to keep your grades at an acceptable level and not cause another trouble” the black-haired secretary said. Aediva only glanced at the stoic woman. She walked out of the office and joined her new classmates.

“So, you’re joining our class? Now that everything’s done with. Let us go to the class. The first lesson is Basic Magic” Arthur said, noticing Cath’s tail wagging when hearing the word ‘magic’. Eden yawned.

“C’mon! I’m getting sleepy just waiting around” the raven said as he walked away with Arthur and Aediva following after him - Cath as usual, hitchhiking on Aediva’s shoulder.

❅First Period (Hall of Lapis) - Basics of Magics Theories❅

“I see that there’s a new face in the bunch. Welcome to the class. I’m Rewyn Hyde, do call me Mr. Hyde. Now that’s out of the way, I’ll start the class. Yesterday we talked about Aravash Theory…”

“Ugh… I really hate memorizing stuff…” Eden murmured.

“Hm… That theory is and … Wait, what’s a fungi?” Arthur mumbled under his breath.

“Where’s the loud bang and stuff?” Cath asked.

❅Second Period (Class 1-B) - History❅

“Ah… A new student. Welcome to the class. I’m Edrick and I’m in charge of your history lessons. I will only assume that you’ve at least heard from your friends but in my class you’ll learn about the history of the world and its implications from past eras to the current history. I’ve said this during the first class but I will say it again. Participation in class will affect your grade, not just reports. I will not forgive tardiness and students who sleep in class. Since you’ve been left out for two weeks worth of class, come to me after class and I’ll give you the syllabus of my class. Now! Students, open your textbooks to page 29! We’ll be reviewing among the first magic civilisation of King Solo--”

Eden yawned.

“Oh… The Beginning of Magic… Oh… First magical…” Arthur yawned.

“Ugh…….. I want a class to use magic like BANG!!!” Cath sighed.

❅Fourth Period (Laboratory) - Potions❅

“Alright class! I see a new student today but I supposed a lot of us have known who she is, so I won’t go too long with the introduction and whatnot. Ms. Aediva, please meet me after class today so I can tell you more about the syllabus. Now! I hope everyone has their lab coats and googles in order? Good good, We’re going to learn the properties of these clusters of herbs. Some are poisonous so please, do not popped anything into your mouth”

“Agh… I really hate potion-making. This thing smells like shit!”

“Eden, please shut up and take the ingredients for our group already” Arthur sighed. Cath growled.

“Who cares about these leaves?! Aediva… When will we get classes with magics and stuff???” Cath asked, pulling at Aediva’s coat.

Aediva let out a sigh. Oh Cath, if only you know how classes actually work.
